Please help me Jow Forums. I just found out that I’m going to be laid up in the hospital for a while. I really need music player. I’ve seen you post great threads about this subject in the past so I value your advice.
Here’s my only requirements:

I like my Cowon Plenue D. It's not as small as the Clip series, but it's pretty tiny and has god-tier battery life.
Had a Sansa clip and randomly died after a few months. Was pretty happy with it before that, though.

battery life is okay if you buy one that was manufactured after 2016, should last around 10 hours. older models had a 1500mah battery, newer ones have 2000mah.

If I bought an 5th gen ipod classic, could I install rockbox and a 128gb SD card and have it still be somewhat modern?
I want a dedicated music player and not have to use my phone.
I think you can, I saw a guide showing how you could mod one by replacing a broken HDD unit and swapping it with a SD card with the help of some chinkshit.
I've thought about making a powerful iPod mod type of deal but I already have a Clip Zip.
Not aesthetic enough.
