Please help me Jow Forums. I just found out that I’m going to be laid up in the hospital for a while. I really need music player. I’ve seen you post great threads about this subject in the past so I value your advice.
Here’s my only requirements: >Expandable storage up to 256 >Great battery life >Small >Not Apple
That’s basically it. I normally wouldn’t do this but I’m desperate
I like my Cowon Plenue D. It's not as small as the Clip series, but it's pretty tiny and has god-tier battery life.

Had a Sansa clip and randomly died after a few months. Was pretty happy with it before that, though.
Get well soon OP

xduoo x3. can take two 200GB SD cards, very small, supports rockbox.
battery life is okay if you buy one that was manufactured after 2016, should last around 10 hours. older models had a 1500mah battery, newer ones have 2000mah.
~$110

also, i am just hijacking this thread for a second. if i were to add: >Bluetooth >a comfortable UI what would people here recommend?

If I bought an 5th gen ipod classic, could I install rockbox and a 128gb SD card and have it still be somewhat modern? I want a dedicated music player and not have to use my phone.
I think you can, I saw a guide showing how you could mod one by replacing a broken HDD unit and swapping it with a SD card with the help of some chinkshit. I've thought about making a powerful iPod mod type of deal but I already have a Clip Zip.
Had a Cowon J3 for many years until it finally broke. Mostly great. Currenly have a fiio x1... Its okay, but has shit battery life compared to my old J3.

I like clip+ better, but clips are still the best music players after all these years

The dac's in phones are good enough for earbuds so just use your phone

Due to Clip+ not being manufactured anymore and prices are sky high, I bought an X3 Xduoo. Its pretty good. Sturdy, long battery life and most importantly can have rockbox. It's also got 2 SD card slots.
