>mechanical keyboards
is it 2016 again?

I don't understand what this means, did mechanical keyboards only exist in 2016?

>2016 was 12 years ago

Thinking of buying a used kiosk keyboard. It says it has cherry switches, does that mean cherry mx?

it could mean mx, my or ml

Do you guys know any decent, durable wireless keyboards that are also backlit? Preferably mechanical but not necessarily. I don't care about RGB.

If I wanted to replace them down the road would all those be compatible in the same slots?

Anne Pro?

Any suggestions for non-autistic keyboards under $100 that won't make my room look like something out of an 80s sci fi film?

No

My bad for not specifying it, but I want to at least have the arrow- and function keys.

Unicomp

People who relearn an ergodox/ ortholinear or other meme layout and keep the QWERTY layout shit me. Why not switch to an optimised layout while you're at it?

because switching from ortholinear to normal layout isn't that big of a deal

following up on this post from last thread:
ya, i already ordered a huge pile of testers from novel keys. still wanna get some opinions in though.

thats the wrong post. i meant this:

looks shit

because i don't type on my ergodox, i only game with it

probably thats the year that user started thinking about mech keyboards and he felt like it was also when everybody else did

>this hard baiting
your deserved (you)

not even bait

i have a normal keyboard for typing on, and the left half of an ergodox for playing games with

Which one guys

Attached: 1221.png (1024x683, 1M)

just buy a figure from aliexpress and glue it on top

The one on the right :)

TADA68 pro

There's also Logitech full-sized one but the keys feel like shit and no LED

pigs would be better because of the buypig meme

just bought this for $23. Never used a mechanical before and this is probably trash but hopefully it can help me decide if I want to put the money into a proper one or not

Attached: mechkey.jpg (800x600, 245K)

I made this a year or 2 ago, rate or hate at your leisure.

>MK Fission RGB A

what exactly you mean by you made. is it hand wired and you made that case?

Just get a Ducky One RGB instead

yep

looks very professional, could you show photos of that case?

It was my first go at anything like this, i had never soldered before etc so i'd do it slightly different and maybe a bit fancier, if i ever did it again, but its been good for years now I might never get around to it
It's just a metal plate ordered online with case made from MDF and spray painted, its a little rougher here in this photo I've since resprayed it & wiring ain't too crash hot but like i said, first time and it hasn't failed yet.

Attached: morelefty.jpg (431x547, 47K)

looks good
>big FN
should've been enter button

multiple layers, it does work as an enter when i need it to

Looks good, even though in my opinion backlighting is a bit useless if the symbols on the keys aren't translucent. Hope I can find one for a decent price in Europe.

Oops lol.

Attached: circum france.jpg (2000x1333, 412K)

Anyone able to identify this?

A bud of mine said where he's working is throwing it away and doesn't know if it's worth anything. The way the keys are laid out makes me think it's some kind of Model M clone but I could be wrong.

not really, it's trash. only key tronics worth while are the ergoforce series as well as the foam and foil ones

Where to even cop the tada pro?

>keytronic
Sorry it is garbage.

this is more cringy than my pink keyboard

I don't understand the tracking process for my Anne Pro. Damn chinks.

i want to get an ergodox left side only and use it as a gamepad, but i haven't been able to find any useful resources on doing this.

is this possible without soldering/replacing the controller? i just want to plug+play.

Attached: Lbqcm4l.jpg (4032x3024, 889K)

kbdfans sells DIY pcb types for about 100$ but ofc you cant top that case the original one is much better build

China

Just get one from falbatech

Very descriptive

if you just want 68keys with bluetooth, here's one es.aliexpress.com/item/Bluetooth-mini-68-teclas-Teclado-mec-nico-BT-port-til-cereza-interruptores-LED-blanco-dyesub-PBT/32851144753.html

Your welcome

panchito no tiene dinero y compra en aliexpress

This the tada or something generic

solo muere panchito

looks like generic, but does it matter?

Finally I found a good successor to my Cherry Xtream with scissor membrane keys, which is a mech keyboard with the new low profile Kailh Blue switches.

If you buy cheap chinkshit, it will work like cheap chinkshit.
If you think the switches feel bad or the keycaps start getting ruined it might be time to upgrade.

How are kailh box switches?
thinking of getting a CK61

They're very nice

Like MXs but much, much better.

Really? Even in a chinkshit board like this?

Yes imho.
Box whites are very nice switches. I don't know about the quality of the keyboard overall, but the switches are very nice.

Is it worth it to buy a Unicomp Classic? I finally want to try out buckling springs but don't wanna deal with trying to find a model M for a good price

Ducky One 2

I think I'm in love

Have you cleaned your keyboard recently, Jow Forums?

Attached: IMG_20180406_160726710_1.jpg (3882x2520, 2.15M)

there's so much hair in here stuck between the switches and the little brackets. How the hell do i get all this out?

You buy a new keyboard.

I first time baough a model M about a year ago for work and is the best keyboard ever for me, quality wise and the feeling of typing if you like heavy switches.

I liked it so much I also got one for home!

Not good for gaming though, for gaming I use a Logitech Orion with Cherry MX Red

Attached: 20171018_162508 - Half.jpg (2064x1161, 690K)

I just don't know which one to get since they changed a bit throughout the years, don't know whats a good price, don't know whether to buy new or used.

Tbh I also really like the black and gray unicomps, the only reason I'm hesitating is I don't know how they really are quality wise

If you are in the US: clickykeyboards.com/shop/?orderby=price-desc

Best ones for about $170 are the ones with the white/grey logo, which were made by IBM themselfes. 1990 to 1993 are good years and not super old.

Also this site applies a mod with bolts which will make it a better keyborad. Read about them.

So expensive
Thanks for the link though

Who here works a job where you use computers?

Mechanical keyboards seem like one of those things that once you try you can't go back. I'll get used to it at home and there's no way I will be able to convince work to buy me one.

Aren't you living in hell at work when you have a nice mech at home? Right now I'm in blissful ignorance writing on a mushy Dell piece of shit at work.

I do. It's not like I type a lot on my work computer, so while it's not really great, it's not really a bother.

>has a job
>cheaps out and doesn't buy a good keyboard for work
what

>He doesn't work from home
Must suck having to concede such small personal freedoms just because you have to go into an office everyday.

I don't control what my job buys.
We only just got them to replace our shitty 10 year old screens and awful chairs.

I could take a keyboard in, but then I'll be "that guy" who brought in an expensive weird keyboard that makes loud clicking noises and pisses everyone off.

I mean I am considering it anyway, I'm not gonna lie. I'll start at home though.

just get quiet switches for work...

beauty of mechanical keyboards is all the switch options for different needs.

membrane is only marginally useful for FPS were ur holding down 2-3 buttons to the bottom, and that membrane is kinda acting as a cushion.

So why are redditors always posting meme boards with no function keys, no numpad, no number row, blank keys, rgb tacticool lights?
Just redditors being fags as usual?

People are biting into the minimalist meme a little too hard.

I want to get the loudest switches to annoy my coworkers, I use a computer daily, but don’t type on it that much

I bring a variety of keyboards in to work, even clicky. I prefer using clears at work though, no one gives a shit.

Just get silent switches and o-rings nigga

Attached: timewasago.jpg (528x516, 177K)

TKL is comfy to use.

Attached: Untitled-3.jpg (1174x558, 58K)

No seriously though, I'm deep cleaning this thing. Ive got most of the dirt out and im soaking and scrubbing the keycaps with dish soap and warm water. But how do I get out all the little bits of hair wedged under everything?

any one else wanna pitch in?

Not a problem for me. I have a large desk and try to use the mouse as little as possible.

Would this chart still apply if I sit like this?

Attached: fullsize.png (710x599, 7K)

How do I know what kind of switch I want?

I'm into heavy typing, programming, not gaymen.
I tried to learn touch typing but on a membrane piece of shit it feels so horrible resting your fingers on mush and having no feedback, so I stick to my self taught bash the keys from above technique.

So I assume I want something tactile and non-linear for that reason?

Are the HUB keycaps worth investing in? It seems super cheap and the color sets look super nice

Go on your local hardware store and try out some keyboards, that's how I chose my style
