Unfortunately yes. I bought a package deal with a HP 1000 vr headset and a gaming laptop. I sold the headset and I'm thinking about selling the laptop.

Got a cheap headset for use with a smartphone. Then the controller to try and make it work without having to stick my finger in to navigate the menus.

All the android players are buggy adware that don't support the controller or lack the simple ability to fast forward.

I might jump at the Vive Pro once it drops in price, but other than that I am not impressed.

I might have.

Been watching anime in a virtual house with windows mixed reality.

sounds comfy

It was lovely. Considering getting a lounge chair and doing a movie theatre experience sometime

Yeah I got the rift and holy shit is it fun

I'm gonna buy the rift next week. Elite dangerous finally made me interested, and I'm hoping Skyrim VR won't be shit.

I'd fall for $15 googles for smartphone but I don't know what to choose.

I bought these because muh reviews on youtube

Yeah I got a rift on sale now I smash anime puss every night.

Honey Select?

That and CM3D2

Neat, tried getting into CM3D2 but i couldn't figure out how to do anything

/h/ has a bunch of tutorials

I'll check it out, thanks.
Koitatsu soon

Is the jew version of that compatible with the existing mods?

No idea, i'm using the original version. Is the jew version even out yet?

Just watch out you don't puke your guts out when trying to dock into a station.

Porno was good though.

Bought an oculus rift for 300 bucks last xmas, best that happened in my life, cured my depression and got myself a gf irl, gonna start living together before june.

vrchat is even better now that the hype died, cancer is 90% gone and public servers are very laidback and chill again

I have never once been motion sick, so I'm hoping I'm not prone to VR sickness. Not sure if they're related?

Yea it released in march

damn did all of you get a rift on some crazy sale or what's going on here?

Part of my motivation for pulling the trigger (aside from a game that has me wanting it) is I can get about $50 on a student discount from the microsoft store. And I won't be a student in two weeks, so...fuck it. Also nothing else new seems to be coming out, other than the overpriced vive pro, so there's no point waiting.

And b4 someone mentions that pimax bullshit, I'm not gonna wait just to get chinked. Oculus is a mature product. Pimax is still unknown.

yea I guess $400 isn't all that bad.
I'm gonna try some phone HMD with a few different phones if possible and try and see if it's worth it

Yeah, the gear vr sucks.

I was curious about elite dangerous so I googled it. After watching youtube videos for the last hour I bought it. Downloading it on steam now, hopefully its three screen compatible.

Bought an Oculus Rift about a year ago.
It's genuinely awesome.
Don't get motion sick or anything.
Best used in Car/Flight sims.
Then it just stayed in the box.
Can't really explain why.
What I do know, is that it would be used to death if Codemasters fucking pulled VR support in their F1 games already.
But now we'll have to deal with the fucking safety bar in our field of view.

Just don't.
It's really awesome in dogfights.
But when it comes to exploration, here's what happens:
The lenses fuck up with the background stars.
They feel 'blurred'.
Not really sure how you would call it desu.
But the end result: Your eyes are constantly trying to cancel it out. Guaranteed migraines after a few minutes.
Now, imagine looking for planets in a system with that.

Elite Dangerous was the biggest let-down for me with VR.

Nice. Just be aware a lot of the criticisms of the game are accurate. It's a shallow game in many ways. But it's really good at making you feel like a pilot in a massive galaxy. If that aspect clicks with you, you'll love it. If you're expecting something action packed and really fleshed out, you'll be disappointed.

Hmm, I'll take the risk, but thanks for the warning. Many people say they'd never want to play it again without VR, so I don't think your experience is universal. Hopefully doesn't happen to me.

Well, sort of.
I never want to play it again without VR.
But I don't want to play it in current VR either.
So I haven't played it in a year.

I think a big problem with VR is just how different people are with these things. Some get headaches and experience eye strain easier than others. Same with motion sickness. It seems to be a crapshoot right now whether someone will have a painful experience or not.

SkyrimVR + mods is pretty fucking sweet

That's true.
But out of all the games I tried, this was the only one I had issues with.
I can't believe I'm the only one, though. The issue is pretty obvious.
For a few minutes, you just feel like 'this is not right'/'Something's off'.
To describe the effect, it's like every fucking star in the background has a subtle lens flare effect.
And it technically is a lens flare.
It really fucks up you brain because instead of thinking they're infinitely far away, it tries to adjust your eye focus to make up a clear dot.

I think that's what people call godrays, caused by fresnel lenses. Supposedly it's worse on the Vive.

I'll add that it is mostly due to contrast.
Most scenes in ED are white stars on a black background.
I'm sure the effect is there in other games, but because there are things in the background, you don't notice it.

For the Jow Forums-anons that happened to buy the shitshow that was fallout 4 VR, Skyrim VR is gold compared to that, runs like butter on a 1050ti and you can get it cheaper on GMG right now

Pimax is actually just an improved version of some other 4k chink headset. The company decided to take the consumer feedback seriously and fund the improvement with a kickstarter

Reminder that there exists a VR general on /vg/ now (though it's basically VRChat general). I fell for the meme, and am now a changed man. My life is on a better path and my soul is being healed. I really do think it's that good.

Looks like we still haven't learned our lesson from the 80's. Most people don't want to wear a big attachment on their faces.

No, but I'm looking forward to purchasing the first market viable set in 2064.

i tried the vive yesterday. it's really fun, but it's not consumer ready yet in my opinion. if you like seeing pixels and big black borders around the game/video, go for it. otherwise wait for bigger, higher resolution screens with foveated rendering/eyetracking, i.e. wait for gen 2 or 3.
or wait for the price to drop, right now i can't say the experience is worth the 600€.

Wait, how? Id like to try this

How did ocolus rift cure your depression and get you a girl??

The windows interface lets you open microsoft apps and stick em to walls in the VR lobby. So I opened crunchyroll and made it huge and stuck it to a big wall.

Have fun sending your eye-tracking data to facebook

Well I started making friends and working on my social skills that I also translated irl.
I also pretty much danced every night for hours at the clubs for at least a hour or two so i became a bit more physically active, and eventually I made a good friend, talked for months, developed a thing for and decided to meet irl, she stayed over for a month and now we're in a relationship

so things are pretty good right now, compared as to like 4 months ago when i decided to just go for the VR meme since my life was shit anyway
