It comes with Win10, which is nothing I ever want to use. Installing Linux is probably a pain in the ass and produces tons of issues with the hardware. I don't need the pen and I don't need any touch capabilities. There are probably better options around.

I just cancelled an order I had for an HP Spectre X360 15” with that new Intel Core i7-8705G with the Vega graphic. My nearly 6 year old MacBook Pro wasn’t working, and the bearded hipster Starbucks Genius Bar douchenoozles couldn’t give me an answer. I ordered the HP and for shits and giggles replaced the Hard drive ribbon cable in the MBP and the fucker started working like it was new again. I cancelled the HP. Wasn’t gonna ship till at least the 12th anyways, and I really was gonna stretch myself extremely thin financially to buy it. As much as I like Trump, this economy is still the same shithole it has been and I am not magically making more money and my employer is so far deep in the red that I am guaranteed my income will be stagnant for years to come.

I had one of these. Windows 10 doesn't even scale to 3000x2000 very well. For almost everything I had to use 200% display scaling.

The cooling sucked it was either jet aircraft or not on it all.

Surface products have extremely high failure rate. Almost everyone has said this repeatedly. They're not premium products. Apple is at worst middle of the pack but closer towards reliable because there's a big division where failure rates go from like 15-18% to like 25%

You can attach the screen backwards. Have the keyboard face away from you so you can have the screen extra close and play with a wireless controller. That's what I do.

With pen it is. It features touch keyboard, optionally in full-mode (with Fn keys), optionally with swipe-to-type words, and a pen-input panel with decent word-recognition and fine-tuned gestures for corrections. You get a pen-input when you click a field with pen, touch keyboard of your preference when you choose it with touch.

It has plenty of touch gestures for multitasking. Left-swipe for task view, right for notifications center, top for a couple of different functions (closing, side-by-side layout).

Its pen is magnetically attached to the tablet. Nothing clumsy, it sticks to it, at least on my Pro 4.

I did not ever have an experience any better than with Surface Pro 4, in terms of not only the tablet devices, but all touch-screen devices.

i owned a first gen one..... every time i was using the gpu and it got bumped it would hard crash, if i was typing with any kind of speed the screen would wobble around

the thing felt like some home made ipad taped to a keyboard, so i took it back and got a full refund and bought a macbook pro

not exactly 4K since the aspect ratio is 3:2 so on the 13.5" you get 3000x2000 and the 15" you get 3240 x 2160. There are two batteries in there though one in the screen and one in the keyboard so overall battery life is outstanding.
