Pretty fucking terrible. IPC is as bad as AMD FX, if that gives you any idea.

pleb

I run a Q8400, it's fucking awesome. Depends what you're using your computer for. I run Debian and mostly use my computer for work and old school gaming. Modern FPSs, no, it wouldn't be any good at all for that. Apart from that, it still makes mincemeat out of everything.

As far as I know I can't put anything more powerful into asus p5b-mx/wifi-ap.
I also have 4GB of ram. Does this mobo support more unofficially?

Some of them are pretty good overclockers. I got mine up to 3.2Ghz on air with a reasonable voltage. It should work fine for most things within reason.

I have a 1.6ghz core2duo inside right now and on linux it still works fine for regular tasks. I hope that 4 core will be at least twice as fast. No hyperthreading. 4 cores are better than 2 with HT, right?

I won't overclock I think. With 4 GB of ram I can't do anything serious on that machine.

Holy shit move on

oh yeah that extra freq increase is going to make a huge leap in performance. Kentsfield was cool when it came to price as mine in 2008 cost me 200 dollars versus all the other quad core cpu's running between 500-1,000 bones. But since vista just came out and games hardly took advantage of hyperthreading and the additional cores, you were better off with conroe.

You should have just bought a used office prebuilt with a i5 2400 off ebay for $100.

I got it for 40 bucks off the guy down the street.

Download the manual on Asus' support site.

The bump in frequency will make it faster than the 1.6 C2D, that's for sure.
The Q6600 will still be fairly slow, unless you overclock it. It depends on what you want to do. Run more tasks at once : Q6600 (4x 2,4Ghz, 1066FSB, 95W), run stuff faster : E7600 (2x 3,07Ghz, 1066FSB, 65W).
That mobo seems to be limited to a 1066 Mhz FSB. It's a shame, because a Q9650 could have been dope.

this

Oh boy sure is third world in here

mfw no Qx9770 or X5460

>$40

it's $16 on Amazon, you're getting ripped off

It'll be fine for everything except playing new babbygames.

running an e5450. does what i want with it for now, but id like to at least upgrade to a 8600k in the future

6 core xeon 1650 v2 (3.5GHz-3.9GHz) is a sweet spot for cpu imho.

>upgrade
>11 year old processor

Spectre v2 doesn't work on that CPU :^

Spectre v2 doesn't work on a frying pan.

Outdated.
Still feasible to some degree.
Be sure to apply the BSEL mod if you can't overclock it, it's great.

stop being poor retard

Should have ordered a Q9550

its fine if you're not going to be playing modern games

>intel

>buying first generation phenom
>buying second generation phenom
>buying bullslowzer

don't you have a designated shitting area to take care of pajeet?

>a bunch of shit from 10 years ago
stop being poor

Nice poojection

>upgrade
why not just save up for a new rig? you get probably get a used dell on ebay for like $50 that's better than what you have

Meh, pretty bad but it is a quad core. Overclock it for the best results

My friend still plays GTA5 with his non-overclocked Q9400 and Payday2 and other games like those. @ stock speeds and a GTX 960

What's the point of upgrading when 128GB mobos are still reserved for servers? The prices of RAM are stupidly high. Also, where are my 8Ghz cores?
Fucking corporations, not innovating on purpose.

how much did you pay for it?
