Googling shit is not really helping me out here. Is there a way to get rid of the botnet in firefox, eg. get rid of notification ip tracking (or notifications period), get rid of forced signed extensions, get rid of any and all botnet "features" period? I want to use quantum, IceCat does a good job of getting rid of this shit, but it's too outdated. Waterfox used to do this, but now includes these "features" as well. I tried looking in about:config, can't figure this one out... Should I just compile it myself, if so which buildflags do I even use?

Use Chromium

I've been using ungoogled chromium as a replacement for a while now, but I can't customize the interface to titlebar on autohide and 8px tab bar.

firefox botnet is unbeatable and requires major restructuring of the code to delete.

what do you mean by notification ip tracking?

Palemoon

This is why you should use GNU Icecat

Stop using google, you sheep.

Cuck browser where developers decide which addons you're allowed to install.

Pale Moon

Block notifications

about:config
dom.webnotifications.enabled = false

Palemoon is like Firefox 30 or something. It has 20+ security holes. Don't believe me? Install vanilla instances of palemoon and Firefox esr/quantum on 2 machines. Browse to a degenerate website you know is infested with stubs. Music share, degenerate porn tubes with niche genres, mirror torrent sites. Watch how the

I use startpage/ddg (googling is just an expression)

Thank you, now what about unsigned extensions and preventing firefox from contacting mozilla everytime I download or use an extension?

read the eula for either firefox or waterfox

I would, if it wasn't stuck on an ancient version, I plan on using it again once 60 comes out in may.

Palemoon is outdated, security holes and shitty slow behavior.

... I know, but what in about:config can turn off forced signed extensions and mozilla tracking extension usage?

Some issues:

Technical data for add-ons blocklist: Firefox for Desktop and Android periodically connect to Mozilla to protect you and others from malicious add-ons. Your Firefox version and language, device operating system, and list of installed add-ons are needed to apply and update the add-ons blocklist.

Connection data: If you allow a website to send you notifications, Firefox connects with Mozilla and uses your IP address to relay the message. Mozilla cannot access the content of messages.

Interaction data: Mozilla receive aggregate data such as the number of Firefox subscriptions and unsubscriptions to website notifications, number of messages sent, timestamps, and senders (which may include specific website providers).

Search queries: Search queries in the Add-on Manager are sent to Mozilla to provide you with suggested Add-ons.

Interaction data: We receive aggregate data about visits to the AMO website and the Add-ons Manager in Firefox, as well as interactions with content on those pages. Read about data practices on Mozilla websites.

Technical data for updates: Firefox periodically connects with Mozilla to install updates to Add-ons. Your installed Add-ons, Firefox version, language, and device operating system are used to apply the correct updates.

yeah but I actually want the notifications on twitch.tv

Hang on, how is that an issue?

I don't want to get my addons from a shitty corporation like mozilla, I get them straight from devs or build them myself, the fact that I have a search function on my addon page is intrusive.

>contacting mozilla every time I use an extension

lol I don't believe you. Citation needed.

eula

actually, this makes sense if you have enabled the option to automatically update your add-ons.

>Googling shit is not really helping me out here
If you can't help yourself, then nobody can help you.

I found this entry in the firefox arch wiki:

Turn off sponsored content and tiles
In about:config, set the string value to a blank for both of these: browser.newtabpage.directory.source and browser.newtabpage.directory.ping. Consider also disabling the tile feature from the tools on a new tab page. A Wireshark session demonstrates the level of chatter created by these features.

Also, there is a page dedicated to privacy

Why isn't there an artificial intelligence that operates in the shadow of my search history and tells me what I want to know before I ask? It could also tell me who I have the best chance of falling in love with, satisfy all my needs of consumerism, tell me who I am, and what I want to do right now.

IceCat isn't outdated, it's based on Firefox ESR
