I believe it uses the special TrustedInstaller group. Which should be generally privileged so something must be extremely fucked in your system.

It's weekend so people with a job can post too
>uses outdated abandonware OS

this. Why are you using Live ID?
it asks for UAC but still complains about lack of privileges.
The install is almost 2 years old so wouldn't be surprised if the windows rot is coming into play here
Maybe explicitly run it as administrator.
>tries to install something while not an administrator
>WHY DOESN'T IT WORK??
Use the "Take ownership" script to fix permissions.

Ah yes, bravo Microsoft
it asks for UAC, it's given permission
you can't, I think it's because it's an .msi
Stil not an administrator. UAC isn't there to give you admin privileges, you fucking retard.

so what, I'm supposed to enable the hidden admin account and log into that?
Bravo Microsoft
You're supposed to not be a fucking retard and think you can install shit without admin privileges.
microsoft.com
It doesn't support Windows 7 SP1
Use Windows 7 instead.
Maybe read the requirements next time OP.
this isn't unix, it doesn't work that way.
If you have one account it's basically guaranteed to be the admin account, the one you make at install
Actually doesn't work like that either the account you create is an admin account but it's not the og admin account which, upon completing setup, is hidden.
Check any permissions, your user admin account is separate.
Why are you even trying to install Windows Live ID?
It's based on ACEs in the object's DACL not getting the privilege of a specific account.
Either way has nothing to do with why OP can't install it.
user is probably one of those "power users" that fucks around with 1337 registry tweaks, and runs random executables downloaded from dodgy websites to disable telemetry and the like.
