Honestly, I can't say. I remember getting positive scans couple of times last year but each time I was almost certain they were false positive.

It was MyStart Toolbar, five or six years ago. I rushed through the installation of a program and I forgot to not not uncheck this checkbox to not install this additional software.

Then last one I dealt with was Cryptowall on a family computer... Enrolled 'em all to Linux based OS's after that.

Some ad drive-by while running XP. I noticed Microsoft Security Essentials first turn red and then disappear. Quickly ctrl-alt-deleted and ended process tree on the bugger.
