This thread is about the appreciation of horology, as well as the micro-engineering and materials engineering that are required to make a fine watch, clock, or other timepiece. Discussion of replica watches is welcome.
>getting a rep of a watch that can be had for 2k user....
Justin Morales
Polywatch for the crystal on the Constellation, rinse off the Explorer with some warm water since it's the only water resistant one, and then wipe everything down with some pec-pads. Pec-pads are awesome by the way, they're meant for photography equipment and film but everyone should buy some.
I just explained it What about it? I'm not convinced it's original but it is an Omega signed crown at least. The watch isn't exactly a museum piece and the dial is repainted, but I inherited it from my grandfather.
I think I remember reading somewhere it's in the 0.2mm range which is at least like 10 times thicker than gold plating. When you turn over the watch you can see the layer of gold on top of the steel, it's thick enough to be visible.

I need a new strap for pic related as I can't find a genuine one :( Any recommendations for penisquartz straps or bracelets? I'm considering a Milanese.
I recommend a stitchless black crocodile leather band.
As for getting the bracelet just tool around ebay for some vintage one that looks the part. And if you want the true matching one look for that same model but broken and buy that and harvest the bracelet
Why are reps encouraged in this thread? They have bad quality copied movements and you pay $200+ for them? You guys collect these? And they all have the same fake movements inside. Why do you do this to yourselves? To be a poser?
I got into watches only because I was into fashion and I can have 2-3 accesories, watch being probably the msot important along with a fragrance(I have 30 bottles of fragrances)
Problem is I fuking hate the design of most cheap watches(soykos are ok tho). I have only 2 reps a jlc and a iwc portugueser and I only bought them for the pleasing aesthetic.
I don't even wear any watch to work, because I'm a programmer and I don't like having any weight pull on one of my tipping wrists. I only wear watches outside of work. No one has even heard of these two brands and I got some compliments from ladies saying that they usualy don't like watches but mine is stylish.
I'm planing on wearing them for like 20 years witouth any service, throw them and then by some others. Something that I feel people in the watch world don't seem to get is that watches are subject to fashion as well. Just look how everyone fuking makes 45mm watches nowadays, whereas in the past 34 was fine for a man's watch. I kinda agree with archieluxury that if you are going to spend big bux on a wristwatch you should only go with things that have good resale value(rolex and patek). At least for me, I'm sure to get bored of my watches 10 years down the line and by then, who-knows what style will be in.
It’s 45mm, it only looks good on a person with 8.5+ inch wrists

See Replicas are not technology or horology. You are a poser for /fa/shion.

If you don't care about how something looks how about you take a knife and scratch the shit out of your monitor and your PC case?

Only one guy here thinks it's okay to buy reps, and he happens to be a very loud shitposter about it (he's the op of this thread and the 4 first post are from him too). Usually when he's loosing the argument he resorts to play dumb "lol it's just a watch", but if he gets really mad about it he'll dump gay blacked porn. Please don't think all of us are like this person.
Ryan Jenkins
>Only one guy here thinks it's okay to buy reps Wrong.
>and he happens to be a very loud shitposter about it (he's the op of this thread and the 4 first post are from him too) True.
>Usually when he's loosing the argument he resorts to play dumb "lol it's just a watch" Nice grammar, and saying that getting a watch for 5% of its actual price isn't "playing dumb".
>but if he gets really mad about it he'll dump gay blacked porn You have absolutely zero evidence for this claim, I'd never do something so childish.
jesus christ lad get a grip >I only bought them for the pleasing aesthetic. then fuck off to /fa/ you pleb. >I don't like having any weight pull on one of my tipping wrists. Plenty of light weight thin comfy watches exist >I got some compliments from ladies saying that they usually don't like watches but mine is stylish. So it is fine that you are wearing garbage fakes as long as you get complements from women? >he considers his watch disposable How fucking sad. Only watches worth getting that are disposable are Casio's >B-But it's ok because fashions change and I my watch might be out of fashion in a few years I don't buy watches because they are fashionable. I buy them because I like them. Sure my tastes might be influenced a bit by current fashions, but largely I know what I like outside of that. And I can develop my own taste and interests outside of mainstream fashions and not feel pressured by them.
Still not as bad as the citizen eco troll from a year or two ago
Blake Sanchez
It looks ok in that pic
Isaac Morgan
what did he actually do?
Josiah Baker
Well that is what you get when people start caring more about the look of the watch as opposed to the mechanics. I mean nothing wrong with caring about looks. But if that largely outweighs the tech aspect you get cringy shit like running rampant
Samuel Morgan
why you so angry dude? I don't know what other rep owners posted here but I never said that mine are genuine or that they are as valuable as gens.
And I already genuine cheap watches like a ultra thin citizen and a seiko sarb. I also owned a lot of other cheap watches which I eventually sold. I bought an orient mako, after which I realised I hated divers. I can afford a submariner but if I would have bought that and then realised I hated it.....fck me
Easton Ramirez
>he thinks aesthetics aren't important >he thinks the same watch being priced at 20x more because of where it's made is justified
This general was so tame and meek, that all it took to become complete shit was a guy with alcohol problems, a guy with a blacked fetish and people giving (You)s to both of them.
Not really that mad, but someone who is the type to buy fakes and avatarfag as Archie is pathetic.
Never said that. But when the aesthetic aspect supersedes the tech aspect enough that you start justifying fakes that is kinda sad.
William Taylor
>Tudor black bay uses a 2824 movement >replica Tudor black bay also uses 2832 movement
Why buy the gen?
Josiah Edwards
2824*
Jeremiah Williams
Which movement is objectively better quality and spec?
Levi Lee
Checkmate, genfags. I love how Tudor fucked up the black bay when they put the in house movement and made it the slab it is today.
Ian Nelson
I want to stress that I don't think that reps are anywhere near the value of gens or that buying gens is bad.
Different strokes for different folks. Personally, I just don't care about the underlying tech of most things. I literally don't know and don't care about the specs of my car or my computer. I only got into programming because I was a math nerd and think solving problems is comfy.
Christian Collins
>ywn lurk in comfy /wt/ threads ever again Fucking hell does infinity chan have a watch thread or what? I can probably count on my fingers the posters I actually like.
I miss lawyeranon, I miss nineball, I even miss the shitposter who went by the ninefag trip compared to this steaming pile of shit
He probably popped by at some point, saw the state of /wt/ and left. I wonder if he acquired any new interesting pieces?
Landon Torres
those are the dumbest shoes i have ever seen
Lucas Taylor
>android user >needs to install 90001 third party apps for the phone to run somewhat acceptable >still crashes to home screen
Camden Moore
He has come back at least two or three times in the past year, but for a handful of posts at best. But after seeing shit like this I can see why. REEEEEEEEE
I'm sorry, didn't see you ask to see it last time. Here's a couple of pictures, as you might be able to see the edge of the pages are gilded. It's a nice touch!
Been thinking of quitting /wt/ for awhile as well. Might come back once I finish saving up and buy my first >1000 watch, which is ironically a Tudor Black Bay. But might end up getting something with pic related instead. Welp.
