>program for arch-vis used by blokes who charge $200/h is expensive
You're just poor. I am too but at least I'm not a faggot about it.

Get your company to pay for that.

What if you're just a hobbyist?

Professionals use this so it's not a problem for them to pay for it. Wanna be game devs and modelers on Jow Forums that claim to do all this shit so they "need industry standards" but too poor and stupid to see why it costs this much. This is why I laugh at wintoddlers who say they need windows for muh professional software when in reality, they are all posers.

Attached: 1522761545707.gif (487x560, 898K)

Pay for it if you really are that good or passionate about it, or pirate it and shut the fuck up. Another way to look at it is to try cheaper software or maybe blender since if you are a hobbyist, you don't have larp as a professional since no one cares and we all know you aren't that good at it.

Either you are studying and autodesk programs are free or you are a professional that can pay for them.
The only problem is being a neet.

>moralfags
you think it for it affected them they wouldn't do something about it?

Then buy some other cheaper 3d modelling package suited for your hobbyist needs.

if you can afford the hardware that runs 3DS max then it should be peanuts ;^)

for those wondering what cheaper ones are.

Modo is 1500$
ZBrush is 795$
Lightwave3D is 995$

(all perpetual licenses, no yearly BS)

err.. modo is 1800, my bad. and modo indie is 60$ for 6 months license

Autodesk really does deserve to be shafted, no arguments here of any kind.
That said, this is far less expensive than 3D software has ever been, from five-figure sums in the 90's and early 00's to like $7000 through the new millennium, and even worse was that it was a you get what you buy deal with upgrades costing some several grand.
It's still expensive, but within reasonable reach of well-pocketed enthusiasts, and you can feasibly earn that much back even if you end up a bottom-rung freelance modeler for indi projects.

I feel your pain, comrade. Even though we get free student copies, we have to buy it after university. I ain't going to buy that shit. I'm going to learn to use Blender. Fuck paying up the actual wazoo.

Just use blender it's better anyway.

it fucking kicks ass

>Professionals only use 3DS Max

There is still options like Cinema4D and Blender.

ZBrush is difficult to use on its own without the support of a traditional modeling package, so it being $800 means "in addition to whatever else you'll be using". Same goes for Substance Painter and Designer, they're really inexpensive, but merely fulfill a support role.

You can run Max on toaster-level hardware just fine if all you want to do is modeling, animation and other stuff that doesn't involve rendering or particle systems.

The only thing Blender is good at is that it's free. It does have a wide variety of features integrated into it, but just about every other dedicated tool is better. The only time it is convenient is if you want to produce commercial work but still don't have the money for literally anything else.

It's extremely powerful but sucks shit for professional work.

You can do a one time payment in Cinema4D basically for 2k and you get an upgrade for any 150$ no monthly payments.

Learn English before responding to my post
Why? Post reasons instead of saying "professional" work. That just makes you look like a vendor locked in /v/ermin

Install blender : blender.org/
You are lucky to have the best open source tool one click away on the web. The only downside is that if you are a brainlet you will find it hard to remember some key-binds.
No joke, you are lucky to have a really really good open source software that can easily compete with proprietary software for your hobby, you can't say the same for musicians and Photoshop users who can't find good free alternatives.

It's interesting that you demand proof from him but you easily gobble up the view that it's uber powerful and perfect. It just makes you look like a Jow Forumsetard.

Tell me why blender isn't good enough for a hobbyist. If you truly are a professional, you can easily afford the software needed.

Professionals in any field usually care about things like inter-operability, versioning, support etc. Side functionality, you wouldn't need or even want as hobbyist.

>ZBrush is 795$
Zbrush has a version called "Zbrush Core" designed to be used by students/hobbyists for just $149. It has most of the important features of regular zbrush. Like I said in your last whining thread.

Attached: zbrush core.png (1544x992, 176K)

Fucking learn Blender.

>artificial market segmentation

Attached: 1522978172878.gif (300x200, 1.45M)

I hate the blender shills on /3/ but anyone looking to get their feet wet in 3DCG should start with Blender. It's by no means perfect but it's often considered to be great at everything but master of none

>TFW completely legal Office 2003 license
>Getting annoyed by Microshit changing doc to docx so I need a converter every time
>A single license costs more than a triple one in 2003
>Just crack it
>Functions exactly the same, better 4K scaling, no differences than native docx support

Putito

oh shit the spic is mad

If you cannot afford max or zbrush you don't deserve "industry standard". Just start from the bottom like the rest. I don't even hate pirates in general, I hate pirates who try to justify their theft. Just man up and admit you're stealing.

You can get two years of Autodesk software for free if you say you are a student.

autodesk.com/education/free-software/inventor-professional

Autodesk has a reasonable educational system.
You can sign up using any email, even gmail, and get instant access to all of their software forever.

The license for a specific product only lasts 3 years, but guess what--they release a new product every year.
So you effectively have a perpetual license for 3ds Max.

Autodesk is not a retarded company, unlike Adobe. They want to lock you into using their software. They would rather give their software to home-gamers for free so that they can graduate into being a professional, where their studios will pay for the license for them.

As I just said here, educational software for Autodesk is absolutely free forever as long as they don't catch you making money off of it.

This guy knows his shit

This is how software licensing should be done. Only two major companies I know do it this way are Autodesk and VMware.

Also Microsoft but they require you to prove you are a student first.

Eh, I use a program for work that costs me $300 per month. It's fine though because I make that back in just a couple of hours of using it.

Honestly I did that when I was 13 years old ('bout 10 years ago) and I could not be more angry at Blender for making simple shit so complicated.
I could jump into 3ds Max and just get started, the UI was so fucking simple and 80% of what I needed was right in my face from the start.

But when I started in Blender, I didn't even know right from left.

Here's a tip: If you need to look up tutorials or documentation on how to use a software with a GUI, the design of that software has failed from the start.

>paying for any form of software...

go to student.autodesk.com and you can get all autodesk software for free nigga

By this logic anything that isn't a fucking child's toy and blatantly obvious is bad design.

Microsoft is similar but different. They do the lock-in thing too, but the way they go about it is by subsidizing licenses and hardware to K-12 schools and universities, as well as to PC manufacturers.
They cater to home-gamers after all, can't have them all downloading Word for free.

Damn you just instantly reached a core tenet of human factors engineering

Are you a genius?

Did you have to look up documentation on how to use Jow Forums before you started shitposting?

Support Blender you mong.

>What if you're just a hobbyist?
Then support Blender even harder.

>Autodesk has a reasonable educational system.
You literally DONT OWN ANY CONTENT you make with educational product.

Anything you make is Autodesk's IP.

GULAG

>communism is a system that controls people's property and directs people's labor
>not a dictatorship

A government that has sufficient authority to take and redistribute wealth and send people to the labor fields that are most required by society is dictatorial.
And as absolute power corrups absolutely they just take the wealth and redistribute it just to themselves end of story.
That's the actual reason politicians even pursue the commie agenda - to claim dicrtatorship.
Same reason they pose as protectors of the poor trannies and kids to take away your right to speak and defend yourself.

Communism as defined by Marx is a system in which the state has "withered", the class system is destroyed, and workers own the means of production. Soviet Union is none of that.

Blender is better

Then who manages the infrastructure?
Who plans the roads and bridges?
Who redistributes the wealth?
Who sends people to work in undesirable fields such as shoveling pig shit on a farm or cleaning septic tanks?

Marx was a drooling retard and his ideas of "people will just work because they love to work and people will just share because they love to share are THE RETARDEST"

Oh man I wish I owned my 3D crayon drawings

Oh wait, no I fucking don't. Autodesk can hang it on their fucking refrigerator for all I care. You've completely missed the point of educational software and you're flying off at the speed of sound in the wrong direction.

>Then who manages the infrastructure?
>Who plans the roads and bridges?
>Who redistributes the wealth?
>Who sends people to work in undesirable fields such as shoveling pig shit on a farm or cleaning septic tanks?
immigrants

>Like I said in your last whining thread.
hm, wat? This is not my thread friend

>No special 3 years offer
>But it's still cheaper to buy the one year offer and two years at regular price later
Who's responsible for this god awful pricing.

Do you retards really think Blender and 3ds Max are even close to interchangeable? That's like saying you should learn Maya by using AutoCAD.

You people are hopeless. Just because you have the spare time to waste to run Linux and navel gaze you think you know everything about every software. What losers.

-sed

(You) are retarded. No one is saying that. We are laughing at entitled poorfag hobbyist like OP who complain about prices. Either STFU and pay for it or STFU and pirate it. You can also STFU and use alternatives such as Blender or cheaper proprietary software. No one cares if it is expensive to larp as a professional.

Because there is no use ever learning the software you will use professionally. No reason to learn when you aren't on the job! I'm sure professionals will jump on the opportunity to hire someone for a job using 3ds when they have an empty portfolio but know Blender.

You should honestly kill yourself. Nobody will miss you.

meanwhile theres millions of homeless in the US an houses cost half a million dollars each.

Ops post was having a sook about the price, if you're doing professional work, that cost is nonissue

I think they are intechangable. If you're capable of producing quality work in one, you're capable of producing quality work in the other.

User will know major ideas of 3D modeling and rendering no matter what they use. Only complete monkeys like you are incapable of adapting to a new UI. Companies dont expect new hires to adapt to the companies workflow right away so there is plenty of time. Try thinking before spewing garbage from your mouth.

>Piracy
>pirate
>pirates
>pirates
>theft
>stealing
>pirate

>homeless
lol just get a house

Can't you just buy it anymore? You need to rent it now? I did digital design courses and the worst part was moving to a newer version of software so it was pretty common to people keep using Photoshop 7 while CS2 was a thing. When Maya got bought by Autodesk it was hell.

Zbrush is not modeling is sculpting, which have another use in 3D. Not sure how it is today but it wasnt possible to do retopology, simulate or animate in zbrush.

You can blame Adobe and their slimy poo in loo ceo.

Despacito

This guy has never had a job relevant to this discussion.

You clearly have no idea how many different programs for 3D modeling and rendering there are. Principles don't just carry over. Yes you might learn some basic terminology, but nobody would hire a fucking Blender faggot for 3ds Max. That's like hiring someone who uses InDesign to make videos in Premiere Pro because they're both 2D.

You people are beyond hopeless. It's okay to be misinformed, but being so sure of your misconceptions is pathetic.

>artificial
>when said segmentation of their products clearly meets the needs of the market as evidenced by this thread
fag

>what if I'm poor as fuck, don't earn any money, and don't have someone to employ me and buy me software
What part of this means that you're entitled to free software? I don't remember any rule of life saying that you're entitled to always have a way of getting what you want.

You're also not entitled to pay for the software, seems like a silly point

Point me to one good communist government that actually lasted more than their first leader's time in leadership.

Not him but that's the first thing I did when I got here in whatever year it was
The FAQ and rules are a pretty quick read and cleared up a few things about how Jow Forums works
I hope you at least read the rules before you started posting here

sounds like you're still 13

>not even a good analogy

you're the retard mate, learning new tooling is trivial compared to underlying artistic skill. you're saying someone who produces world class artwork with a pencil will be hopeless with a pen.

You think Max is for art? What a fucking dumbass.

>Point me to one good communist government
Trimmed for brevity, without compromising its meaning in any way.

Nice double dubs

Yes, it is very bad.
If you pirate 3D Studio max, you specialize in 3D studio max, and if you specialize in 3D studio max, the studio that hires you will have to buy 3D studio max.
Now if you just download blender and specialize on blender, the studio will not have to pay for this piece of shit.
This is EXACTLY how adobe and autodesk keep their business model.
They expect you to pirate their shit, thus why the retarded high price.

You don't know what entitlement is

Real communism doesn't have a government

Communism has never been actually tried.
But mostly because you can't boot communism at all, due the fact it requires the current government to kill itself and turn into several small communes, and you're just not getting it from a massive socialist corrupt block of hell.

>massive socialist corrupt block of hell.
Commonly known as "communism supporters". They don't support communism, they support taking from producers, and giving to themselves. "Communism" is just a convenient euphemism for this.

Attached: 26993328_1861030717452755_3455756274345555051_n.jpg (747x775, 45K)

Communism is the promise they never deliver.

It's very easy to see why "professional" software costs so much.
The products that it is used to make rake in their respective companies millions, even billions. The software developers want their piece of the income and they want to keep their customers happy with high level support, which costs.

Everyone's gouging everyone.

>Now if you just download blender and specialize on blender, the studio will not have to pay for this piece of shit.
Except the studio won't hire you because they don't use blender and you don't specialize in what they do use.

Yes, this is the end result of everyone pirating 3Dstudio.
If everyone did downloaded blender instead, that would be the software the studios would use.
