anyhow, just for informational purposes, flash is referred to as "memory" because its use as EEPROM (M as in memory) which consisted either by NAND or XOR gates in the early 80s.

I don't mean nand has nothing to do with ram/rom anymore, but the left over "memory" characteristic in NAND products is associated with storage and doesn't have to do with RAM/ROM anymore.
NAND/XOR is associated to ROM because it is used as f/w memory in many devices.
Most of the FPGAs I use have nand chips to store the binary file of the design.

When you talk about storage for applications (nvRAM) you say "disk space" or just "hard disk" because it makes sense for any kind of long term storage devices, be they SD cards, SSDs, HDDs, etc. When you refer to system memory, you call that RAM or memory. Either is fine. When you have a CD or DVD, that's called a disc because it's flat and round.
Also, fuck you stupid shit eating faggots for the "electronically erasable read only memory" thing. Nobody fucking calls it EEROM. Any kind of ROM is electronically erasable if you overvolt the living shit out of it until it fries. And then it's useless ROM. Most "ROM" is actually EEPROM (electronically erasable and programmable read only memory). Nobody uses EEROM because you might as well smash the chip with a hammer instead of erasing it. Real ROM is better for this anyways since it can't be erased by accident, which is why it's used in medical and military stuff.
