Are you serious? Voice-assisted computing without talking out loud would have tons of uses, recreational and otherwise. Pair that with visual feedback as with AR glasses and shit is getting real.

Implantation at birth to prevent/prosecute thoughtcrime.

Yes.
Game over.

telepathy

How would that even work?

What bullshit is this...

allowing mute people to speak. think stephen hawking - instead of typing 1wpm to communicate he could have thought in hundreds

Oh right, forgot the damn link

Dude like the future is here and we are going to get flying cars and space suits for summer. Kick ass!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

...

...

This doesn't read your thoughts.
A lot of people don't realise this but when you "speak" in your head, as people often do when reading/writing/typing/thinking, your body is actually going through the process of speaking out loud, it just doesn't use the vocal chords.
It can even go as far as making the correct shapes with your tongue.
This device works on those principles.

He was already using something similar for years.

throat mics have been in use by military for forever, this is just crap civ tech

spbp... fuck

Four electrodes under the white plastic device make contact with the skin and pick up the subtle neuromuscular signals that are triggered when a person verbalises internally. When someone says words inside their head, artificial intelligence within the device can match particular signals to particular words, feeding them into a computer.

Yeah, it's bullshit...as if 4 electrodes would have enough sensory information in regards to something as complex cognitive functionality as language and communication.

They don't even have a single journal paper on the device. It's a scam.

so the botnet knows what you're thinking

...so it reads the thoughts of people who's brains send impulses to the throat/etc. when they speak/think internally. For all intents and purposes it's a thought reader since most people that aren't born mute do that.

>internal vocalisation

useless.

fake fart noise

they just read the shit you send to your vocal cords. honestly this could be defeated by learning to not "vocalize" what you read and what you think.

>stop talking to yourself
>¿¿¿
>become tought-reading proof
Checkmate psychics

>The AlterEgo device managed an average of 92% transcription accuracy in a 10-person trial with about 15 minutes of customising to each person. That’s several percentage points below the 95%-plus accuracy rate that Google’s voice transcription service is capable of using a traditional microphone, but Kapur says the system will improve in accuracy over time. The human threshold for voice word accuracy is thought to be around 95%.

^this

I was reading a really old book on speed reading from I think the 1930's. It basically said that when people read silently there vocal cords still put off an electric signal like they are in use. Just not as strong a signal. People can even be trained for this to stop if they see the signal.

just one step closer to psychopass

ALS victims like Stephen Hawking.

it's not people's fault either. It's just how stupid schools teach kids how to read stuff.

I'm calling bullshit. In two months no one remembers. If real this tech goes absolutely nowhere as always. Been down this rodeo for 10+ years now. I can smell bs miles away

I'd say psychopass is even scarier as a sacn can be performed in a non-intrusive/less obvious way.

When you think, your brain moves the muscles in your throat, but doesn't push air through.

that thing doesnt read your brain retards
its like speaking very silently, if you dont vibrate your vocal cords it does nothing
