This thread is about the appreciation of horology, as well as the micro-engineering and materials engineering that are required to make a fine watch, clock, or other timepiece.
I love my 214, it's my favorite watch. I was talking about the OP pic. Bingo.
Why settle?

First I thought gshock, but now i'm thinking it's just a marketing trick for some somewhat ""prestigious"" brand.

Looks like a Richard Mille, which would make sense since they make ultra lightweight watches for athletes - and have sponsorship deals with many of them.
It's probably the 67-02 Sprint, guessing from the name and the colours.
Yeah, Richard Mille pride themselves on exclusivity. People buy them because of the insane price. That being said, they do things nobody else do, mainly with new materials.
The new one isn't even a tuning fork, it's just quartz...

Although the FPJ has two separate geartrains and time indications, so then again it's probably more like the Armin Strom Mirrored Force Resonance. Just look at it go: youtu.be/K530I9_2dL0
Almost all quartz oscillators in watches are shaped like tuning forks, so you could argue that they are. Yeah, I know, but had to point it out.

If that's all you want, go for it. But it's a pale imitation of the original, and it doesn't really have anything worthy of removing the dial to see in my opinion.
You cheeky bastard.
Grayson King
Yeah, there's nothing special about the non-vintage. You're just over paying for the "heritage" and looks. If you dig the look and just want it, go for it, but I wouldn't recommend it. That being said, a 214 isn't an easy watch to own and you need to do a fair amount of research.
I think they look terrible and wouldn't want to be caught dead with one on my wrist. And I wouldn't give them my money even if I was a billionnaire. But I can still respect the times when they do interesting things, and they're unrivaled when it comes to lightweight materials.
There is a model that's a step above with better water resistance that's worth a look. The rest are really style / feature dependant on what you want. The cheap casio watches are all pretty much worth it and a fair few of the G-Shock ones are too.
Angel Fisher
They cost just a bit too much for me to afford. Maybe after I sell my app.
its a watch user you use it to tell time. if it fails at that its a bad watch. if it can tell the time its a good watch. everything else is /fa/ faggotry
Michael Walker
No Quartz brand, just Omegas. As if wearing a watch didn't already label you as a huge omega these ones have a redundancy built in.
Aaron Carter
Should I go with the OG Terrorist Watch or one of the higher but similar models?
Christopher James
Not him, but you seriously post here if that is all you think of watches?
Thomas Howard
How much are you willing to spend? f-91w is pretty solid, you get a working watch with some legit history and "fashion value" for pennies. Other models can be objectively better depending on your needs.
No there are not, you will have to go vintage for best results. Many people here have vintage stainless steel digitals, mostly Seikos. Check out a914 for example. Finding a good deal is hard though, especially if you are willing to pay a casio price for one.
no, too much trouble. I have over 10 watches and I keep grabbing my quartz because mechanicals are kind of a pain d.esu
John Rogers
Used to do it when they were new, now I can't be bothered, setting them when I want to use them takes 10 seconds. I only use 3 handers with no dates etc
Nolan Rivera
I did a few upgrades. Actually tried to do like 3 times more stuff on it but some didn't work out. I am more used to photoediting girls and celebs, on huge ass pictures.
