Sabayon not dead yet? Hell back in my uni days it was great distro (and somewhat known). Even allowed to choose DE when instaling
Never knew ot was gentoo derivative.
>not using Calculate Linux
it finally got a somewhat proper installer
Systemd piece of shit. Also anaconda is buggy. Use redcore instead. Seems really promising.
>giving a shit about an installer you run once and forget about
If it works...
I remember it was so fucking bloated last time I've tried it
Is it good?
I'll let you know once I install it when I get home
Works like a charm.
Thanks user
Systemd? How old are the packages?
Of course without systemd. It uses openrc and sysv. About packages, it uses portage.
I forgot to mention that calculate Linux is a Rusky product. I thought that it was an important information.
It seems like perfect. I don't get why it isn't more popular. It sounds like Salix (binary Slackware) on pills.
I think it is in comparison with sabayon and redcore.
I'm the user here still installing
MY MAN!
I've watched some videos about Calculate and it really seems underrated. One famous french Linux youtuber has been running Calculate for 5 years without a single problem. I'm trying it tomorrow
I wanted to try it on my laptop but was too lazy to do proper partitioning again. Might install the MATE on laptop if this one werks.
I just realized I have no idea how to use portage
CloverOS, but good luck.
try emerge command
When will Gentoo become established enough that the contrarian in Jow Forums will switch to "Install Slackware"?
I don't know what I'm doing
What do you want to do user?
I don't know but I've been seeing more and more gentoo users lately
install gentoo
I'll let you know in a few hours when this is done :^)
don't go anywhere fellas
Anyways, I need to read up on USE flags, tried reading it 3 times and not once it made full complete sense.
So far all I know is
emerge --sync @world
emerge -s
emerge
Also check this calculate-linux.org
useful, thanks
there are a lot of scary messages, am I supposed to read these after installs/updates?
Most of the times not really. I'm glad you liked it.
oh :(
wat do
Ahead of you senpai, already installed gentoo
