Is there a proof or an argument for Stallman's 4 essential freedoms or are we supposed to take them as axiomatic? As it is, it seems the creation and usage of FOSS is purely pragmatical, which is more in line with Linus' idea of software than Stallman's

It is a definition that makes sense. Not a scientific theory.

According to whom?

i get the quote is real but is this pic THE pic?

who gives a fuck, zuck isn't even human

Go watch one of his talks, he explains all of this literally every time. Free software = users control the programs they use. First two freedoms give users individual freedom so they can control what the program does. The second two freedoms are so users have collective control, because most people aren't programmers they should be able to freely redistribute the software to people who are. Stallman does not support the open source movement because as you say it focuses on the benefits of collaborative development, and he believes it undermines the free software movement which focuses on user freedom.

According to the people. "We hold these truths to be self-evident"

The freedom to run program as you wish
The freedom to study the program as you wish, modify it, and compile it
The freedom to share the program as you wish
The freedom to modify and share those copies as you wish

According to Stallman and a lot of people. It's an axiom, if you disagree you can reject the axioms and make your own system.
