Heavier than other lightweight DEs (LXDE, MATE,...)

Remind me again Jow Forums, why do you keep shilling a dead DE like XeFeCEs?

Attached: maxresdefault.jpg (1280x720, 75K)

Because it runs well on old and used tech, which is all Jow Forums neets can afford/inherit/leech.

Because xfce a best

Same as LXDE ot MATE.

Alternatives don't have good panels, terminals, or file managers. MATE is ok, but isn't as modular as Xfce.

>MATE isn't as modular as Xfce

>claims de runs well on old tech
>doesn't run old tech without de for real performance

>isn't as modular
what do you mean by that?

MATE apps have a lot of MATE and GNOME dependencies. Xfce apps are lighter when you aren't installing a whole DE.

XFCE the best DE
i3 the best WM
Lightdm the best DM

That's all, anyone disagree is fully retardos

I like XFCE because it's easy to use and very stable.
>muh features
which features? autists on Jow Forums always post about how XFCE doesn't have features, but I've never actually seen anyone post what those features are. Screen tearing was a problem, but that's fixed in xfwm 4.13.
>implying GNOME has more features than XFCE
You can have desktop icons in XFCE. The XFCE devs aren't actively removing features to preserve their brand.
>KDE
I used this for about 8 months and I regularly had to deal with bugs. It was the real Windows experience.
>LXDE
I've used this before. It's like XFCE but complete trash. Why not just use i3 or even DWM if your system can't even handle XFCE?
>MATE
never tried this, but it seems like GNOME without the cancer. If XFCE ever gets ruined, I'll try it out.

Hory shet, this is my exact setup. Was thinking of trying alternatives but why bother?

>using a DM
Why not just boot to a TTY and `exec startx`

Resolution is fucked up with startx. Its easier to just use a DM than to manually configure shit.

>Resolution is fucked up with startx
You can fix that with xrandr. I just add the command to xinitrc and it works on anything.

I try too much DE, XFCE is old and ugly (if no rice ofc), but fucking light and fast, perfect deal between light/beauty/rice

Lazy as fuck and lightdm can be really nice

i3 is for brainlets
If you don't use Xmonad you are a brainlet

Don't know what Xmonad is or does sorry

It's a window manager. It manages windows.

That meme isn't well known enough to be recognized even half the time.

>less features than GNOME

What did he mean by this?

>lying on the internet
Xfce is the perfect balance between stability, lightness and customization. Why would you anything else?

KDE>LXQT>XFCE>SHIT>WINDOWS 10 SHELL>PEE>GNOME

>LXDE
Just werks, but dead
>LXQT
Just werks
>KDE
Just werks (at least on OpenSUSE Leap it is stable)
>XFCE
Just werks
>MS Windows
Just werks (if it is not shitted with viruses or updates)
>Mac OS X
Just werks (if not crashes)

>GNOME
Just doesn't work. What do you what from DE that uses GIMP toolkit?

LightDM is bloat
Use LXDM

>Lightdm the best DM
Wrong. Best DM is none.
Idiots are too stupid to type in startx in shell.
DM is extra 15 megs of RAM wasted

>fall for this shitty meme
>get gifted a nice pair of bluetooth headphones that are 10000% better than my shitty $15 koss ones
>have to use fucking bluetoothctl to use them
>it resets the fucking pairing everytime they go to sleep to save battery
meanwhile
>install KDE
>pairs with the little applet, reconnects with no issue when I play something and the headphones are sleeping
yeah fuck off you suckless autists

Do you know what a DM is?

I like the graphics display managers provide over the hackerman tty login. I tried sticking to just tty for a couple of weeks but wound up succumbing to lightdm and matched it to my theme.

How you select the DE/WM with startx ?
