Can your laptop beat pic related? I wish AMD would make a 45W APU to compete against this.
45W Core i9
It's amazing how faggots don't know Intel calculates TDP using base clock.
Might wanna hover over the ? near the TDP next time, moron.
>It's amazing how faggots don't know Intel calculates TDP using base clock
uhh.... AMD also does this...
>I wish AMD would make a 45W APU to compete against this.
It would still be 4C on inferior node.
Eh.
Uhh, no it doesn't.
A 1700 at base clock pulls under 50W
> at base clock
on what workload?
All cores AVX, torture test

This was at launch.
AYYMD HOUSEFIRES can't even be power efficient
>torture test
Is non-SIMD supposed to use less? Lmao.
>t. 245W Amazon-exlusive Xeon-SP SKU
Not exclusive any more with Cascade-Lake
Probably still is.
We've yet to get any official info on CCL-SP.
Love me some datacenterfires for everyone.
When will AMD get off their asses and pull out a 250W EPYC as well? They're limiting themselves to 180W even though the socket supports more.
Rome goes up to 240W or something.
AMD could just sell Ryzen 6 cores with reduced TDP and a Polaris GPU for half the price of this beast.
why would you put an i9 on a laptop
>Rome goes up to 240W
>6 cores for a facebook machine
>$600 for a CPU used in a facebook machine
Small price to pay for 64C of Zen2 goodness.
Marketing. It's just an i7 8700 with slightly different clock speeds.
>Facebook machine
It won't be used in Macbooks.
This is for the 20 lbs 1337 xxxPR0GAYM3Rxxx monstrosities like pic related.
>I wish AMD would make a 45W APU to compete against this.
I don't, their current quad cores are fine. The problem with these 6+ core chips is they can only run under load for like a minute before throttling.
It will actually be used in MacBooks since it’s a 45W chip. Those huge laptops uses desktop CPUs (95W)
