It deviates significantly from the POSIX specification (polling is still broken) so any certs are basically a slap in the face to anyone who is actually a programmer that wants their apps to be portable and cross platform. I've never made any serious Windows applications but even their POSIX compliance on Windows 7 Enterprise was more strict than Mac OS X has been in the last few years, which is ridiculous considering how different the NT kernel is from other UNIX-like systems. Linux is also compliant, and so is BSD. I can port my apps anywhere to these platforms and it'll work without rewriting significant portions of the code, but Mac OS X is a special snowflake OS.

Not to mention, it's all on the same botnet Intel CISC shit hardware I can buy on the dollar stores of the internet (Amazon and eBay) for like 1/10 the price. Seriously, what's the difference between $2000 Mac shit and a used $200 ThinkPad? Most of the ThinkPads with a Sandy Bridge or greater will perform better and thermal throttle less. There is literally no reason to buy a Mac aside from the OS, and laptops now are pretty easy to hackintosh if you get the right one. But why would you want an inferior OS with a retarded babyish UI and a clusterfuck of a base system?

Mac OS X hasn't been worth a damn since Tiger on PPC. I only have an Intel MacBook specifically to use XCode for some freelance app development on the side (Swift is shit too). If you want real UNIX, then install OpenIndiana, OpenBSD, or NetBSD. Those are really close to being actual UNIX, and OpenIndiana is a fork of the Solaris code released by Oracle. You can run CDE (also open source now) on them if you want that classic Motif UI. You can also run Debian with GNUStep apps and WindowMaker for a NeXTStep feel.
