if you have no other place to move the file at the moment, and unless you need to access it immediately, do multipart zip, rar, or 7z. make each segment 1 or 2 or 3 GB.

pic related. you don't even have to compress it.

shit's ancient, was made in an era where 10GB was an absolute fuckload of space, so not being able to fill up nearly half the disk with a single file didn't really matter too much

But yeah, that was one of the big issues with fat32. Annoyed the hell out of me years ago because DVD images were too fucking big.
make a split archive of the file if this is just some backup thing
otherwise, you're SOL and gotta reformat (or do an in-place conversion to NTFS)
...and why didn't you use NTFS?

you can convert it to NTFS really easily actually lol

This is why NTFS is a thing.

i suppose it's been long enough now that kids wouldn't be aware of the limitations of fat32

NTFS kiddies.

exFAT best girl

use btrfs or alternatively ext4 if you're a pleb

What if you want it to be readable by both windows and linux?

Linux can read NTFS

linux also has a stable ntfs write implementation, only macos shits itself when trying to write to ntfs

just format it ext4 on linux, then overwrite the windows partition and put another linux on it

>she doesn’t use APFS

/thread

just add .ntfs to your hard drifv??

What's wrong with ext4?

I think what they're getting at is that it's a solid filesystem but lacking in features compared to btrfs. Though not all think those features or the fs in general is good. I'm using it on my work laptops / to allow snapshotting, incase something happens. On my /home I've switched over to XFS and found that it's really solid and nice, maybe even better than ext4.
