Cmus because it just works

ncmpcpp because Cmus is for Cucks

mocp

Cuck MUSic

I've been using cmus for a while and it's very good, but I haven't tries ncmpcpp.
What does it bring to the table?

The illusive sorting by filename that so many music players refuse to support

ncmpcpp because it uses mpd as backend and you can close the client without stopping playback. I sometimes use mpc and mpdroid to controll playback too.

Of the two cmus is more convenient and looks better.

The one which has MPRIS support

Pitbull vs Norah Jones, fight!
But mpd.

Ncmpcpp

mpd+ncmpcpp aka rice lord + said

C is master race

I've been using cmus for a while and like it quite a bit. Running on a Rasberry Pi, it does start having problems handling a 1000+ hour library.
Any reasons for why I should check out ncmcpp other than ?

this

I think it's obvious who's cuck here, see pic related
you can use cmus as background daemon

mpv --no-video

I think cmus looks better.

Also, how do you play from a directory that is not in the mpd's path with ncmpcpp?

Attached: 2018-04-14-15:26:28-screenshot.png (1269x1418, 125K)

symlink the directory into the mpd path

>symlink the directory into the mpd path
Still more work than just launching cmus inside the directory, but thanks.

gmpc

Cmus. Because ncmhdgsibdh is needlessly difficult to configure.

>not using spotify

stay shiggy

mpv --shuffle *

> Not knowing you can play spotify with mpd
Read a book faggot

I fear no man, but this guy...

SkyMPC

I prefer the cmus UI but use mpd, so I wrote my own client.

Audacious and KDE Connect for remote control

cmus.

gmpc

I only used cmus but it worked, and it worked well.

GMPC

They both GPL.

cmus confirmed as true minimal choice

what monitor are you using?

8K Dell Ultrasharp 32 monitor that I don't have and instead emulating with xrandr --output eDP --mode 1366x768 --fb 7680x4320 --panning 7680x4320 on my 2 in 1 tablet

ncmpcpp + mopidy

because mopidy lets me use spotify and local files side by side, and even has a nice web ui for when I have normies visiting who want to put on music

Cmus.
I tried out ncmcncppncmp and mpd, but then I realized why the fuck do I need a server daemon and client just to play a fucking audio file on my hard drive.

True Jow Forumsentelman.

mocp does the same

dont suppose you have a link to it?

i prefer fnudcdhj because its a fork of jfdvz and uses ngvdh

cmus
>written in C instead of bloat C++
>doesn't need a bloated daemon to run
>has vi keybinds which ncmpcpp removed at some point

Great music taste.

ncmpcpp classic look (press /)

Are those real names or did they just bash their heads on the keyboard for the name.

mpd

>has vi keybinds

used to use the latter, now use the former.
no big reason to it, just do 2bqh

how about a real fucking music player like Clementine or deadbeef you stupid fucking hipsters

nice font rendering

I'm using mpv to listen to music. If you manage your directories properly it just werks.
Explain me how there things are superior

cmus
My reason for this is simple. If ncmpcpp actually offered the default cmus behavior to just sort by album I'd actually switch over to it. As it stands, I just don't want to fuck around with playlists or trying to recreate functionality that I think should just be the default setting.

care to share?

github.com/drewt/scmus

It's a bitmap font

Using the opportunity of being in such a thread, I have to ask a question about playlist in ncmpcpp.
Maybe it's just me being retarded, but I can't listen to music unless I have it split into a few different playlists. In ncmpcpp you have the playlists tab, where selecting a playlist adds all the songs into the main one. Is there a way to have multiple main playlists or a way to clear the main playlist before adding songs from another one?

>deadbeef
>real music player
good joke

thanks, looks interesting
i might be missing what youre ask, but pressing 'A' and leaving the prompt blank will add all music to the play queue, regardless of playlists. pressing 'c' will clear the queue completely. sorry if i misunderstood the question

the debate is about mpd frontends, not audio players, you doofus

>cmus is mpd frontend
go back to whatever universe you came from

With mopidy you mean
And only if you give shekels to the streaming jew for premium

>written in scheme
>controlled and scripted using scheme
Okay, that's cool
