Fedora. It has the best compromise between stability and freshness. In that it is more stable than most other distros, with newer software.

I ran their update tool. It fucked it up. Not even using snowflake hardware either, just an old craptop.

I am also looking to ditch windows. Debating whether to install arch, gentoo or slackware.

I have it installed on old laptop and I never had problems like that.
