This is perfectly natural. It's actually one of the reasons that stopped me from using any "Linux" kernel. Just saying out loud is an embarrassment if you actually care about your social life or friends. Even Windows, who is more tolerated, can be pretty cringy at times. On the other hand, when you even just pronounce the words "OS X" or "Mac", it's an entirely different thing. People know you're talking about something fresh, pricey and most of all mature. It's a technology they can relate with. The same phenomenon happens between "android" and iPhone
