Very clean. I don't really like rgb, but at least it's purple.
This is solid, did you tidy up the cables since the last time you posted?
I want to add more poo to my system.Should I go for the cpu cooler or case fans first?
There's another 120 in front of the drives, and space for two 140s up top. Not sure there's enough clearance for 140s on top though, especially if I get a U12s or D15.

Nice space heater

I've posted a couple iterations of this build, I'm sure the cables have moved as even the case has changed. Here we are still in the R4
I have installed an intake fan in the bottom and a second ssd to house my windows VM. I'm just waiting for the chinese sleeved sata cables to arrive and then I can take some final photos

I'd pooify the cpu cooler first

what were they thinking putting a big as hole and rubber grommet right there?

Is cable management even possible in an oem computer like this?

Itx in a big case is oddly comfy, 9/10.
Going for the cpu cooler first is my inclination. My only concern is that my motherboard doesn't have the best vrm heatsinks, and without the active cooling from the top down cooler they'll fry under heavy overclocks.

I'd stuff as much as you can into the 5.25 bays and zip tie the rest.

your wires dont hit the cpu fan?

Dell Optiplex that I’ve done some mods to

I7 3770
16GB DDR3 1333
2TB HDD
RX 460.

I swapped the fans on the RX 460 because they started making a high pitched whine and went full leaf blower under gaming load. After that I could hear the CPU blower fan making a grinding noise after ~30min of ontime, so i installed this 80mm noctua. All fans required soldering in the connectors thanks to graphics cards using mini 4pins and Dell using proprietary shit.

Attached: 3BFFC271-B3E9-46FB-B2B0-D76F30D944E8.jpg (4032x3024, 2.06M)

Makes about a 10th the noise under load. Fans don’t have speed control because they’re 3 pin Fractal S3’s. It’s no long silent at idle but it’s much better when gaming.

Planning on adding a series pot or low speed switch on the GPU fans since they’re kind of annoying in a silent room.

how the actual fuck do you mount a front fan on the define r5? the screws aren't long enough

Attached: 1500015057906.jpg (800x1131, 247K)

They are. Barely. Got two in mine.

Attached: SDC10270.jpg (800x600, 281K)

how? they literally can't reach the end

can u take a pic of it

not much has changed

Attached: guts.jpg (1500x955, 399K)

Reach the end of what? They only need a slight purchase and don't need to be screwed to the extreme to fit. Otherwise you flex the fan. If they're not biting into their threads, you've got a fucked case or you've damaged it previously.

Attached: SDC10271.jpg (800x600, 263K)

Nice rig, good cpu choice and the 290 still gets the job done. Good to see some gpu oc, probably performs about the same as my 1060.

But fuck those fucking lights.

Attached: guts.jpg (1603x1603, 803K)

can you take one fan out, and show me how long the screw is?

USB stick for scale.

Attached: Untitled.png (800x711, 743K)

On the Define R5 accessories box, there's pictures on the back that show the screws and what they're for. The picture shows a screw with only the end of being threaded and the rest solid. But like my picture shows, they're threaded all the way up.

it doesn't look like this for you?

Attached: 1500109721442.png (450x489, 285K)

Are you trying to use fans other than fractal? Compare the thickness of your fractal fan and the other type you want to put in there.

There's a reason I don't have the spare Noctua's I have lying around mounted in the front of my case.

i have been seeing these stupid ass threads for years now

and i have to say despite them being fucking dumb i do have a deep appreciation for the very creative computers i have seen made

Nobody cares you insufferable cunt.

they are just as thick, and the fractal 140mm doesn't fit either after i took it out

Fractal on right. Noctua on left. It's millimetres of difference. But it's enough to make sure that only Fractal fans will fit using the Fractal screws. If you want other types of fans, you will need them to be the same thickness, or thinner than Fractal, or find longer screws.

>obligatory Noctua/Fractal
Every /guts/ thread ever.
>LED strip and not a cold cathode
feels bad it's not 2008 any more famalam. Honestly though, get rid of the aesthetic lighting. Noctua/Fractal builds look best as clean minimalist builds IMO.

Come one, you've asked this before. You had those strange noctuas that had 120mm mounting holes despite being 140mm fans. You have to screw them in from the drive cage side.

So not only are his fans too thick, they're a retarded layout in regards to where the screw holes are located?

Then he wonders why they won't mount.

POO
O
O

You have no friends and you're a disappointment to your parents.

they are normal 140mm fans, stop applying conspiracy theories to regular 140mm fans

140mm with a fucking stupid mounting pattern. That's why they won't mount to the front of the fucking fractal you spastic.

>conspiracy theories
What are you even talking about?

Look, remove the drive cage, install the fan from the front side, screw it in using these screws. I promise you it will work.

Just moved my PC into the new case yesterday. Love how much room it has now.

New case: Thermaltake W200

Other side is my server in progress.

neat gpu

Fucking Christ this practically triggered me because I depended on this ancient Chinese technique so much

Why is the CPU fan performing as an outtake?

Is there a hidden front fan?

Say, that looks rather familiar.
Wouldn't happen to be a Dell Inspiron would it?
Sorry for the bad pic, just realized that was the only photo I had on hand.
Stock hp coming thru.

Attached: newbeep.jpg (1920x2560, 1.69M)

ones in front of the fan are ~4 cm away (in z axis) so, no

Honestly at this point I’m just experimenting. This is the original fan and it acted as they only exhaust fan in the system. I figured maybe this fan should kind of do that too but I haven’t tested it mounted the other way yet.

Right now temps are ~70-80 on gpu, ~65 on cpu.

Attached: BCB91A64-0C85-40F6-900F-9D41FFC045A0.jpg (4032x3024, 1.77M)

What do you faggots think about my rig?

Attached: W4pwJIS.jpg (4656x2620, 2.32M)

how're the temps?

The CPU hits 70*c and the GPU reached just above 80*c.
The CPU is a undervolted and delidded 4690K @ 3,5ghz and the GPU is a GTX 1050ti and the core frequency is about 1300mhz under full load and heat.

maybe get some better cooling? and i thought my potato was a literal space heater

Find me a better passive setup and I'll buy it.

Hi, everybody
>inb4 This gpu.
Don't worry, loop building still in prorgress

Attached: 15230814071300.jpg (1440x1080, 585K)

youre going to need a better aio (you should get a fan instead)

Don't warry, few days ago i've got new ekwb AiO for gpu and plan to bought cpu block for this system too.

what's wrong with having a good fan at low rpm?
it should improve your temps by like 20C°
i don't get the point about having 80C° on the gpu

It's filthy.
I'd at least put a few Noctua or Be Quiet case fans in there. They're barely audible at idle and would provide at least some cooling on those heatsinks. You could even have them spin down at idle.

le gut

Attached: IMG_20180402_161458.jpg (1687x949, 248K)

Had a full 140mm Noctua setup in my old case, they spun at around 200rpm at idle and 500rpm at full load. Sure, it was barely audible and the cooling was a lot better, but I've always wanted a 100% passive computer.

>all of sudden I want to switch all my fans with those beautiful poos from noctua

Attached: 1496937716692.png (226x200, 47K)

Is that a 580 nitro+?

Attached: gutsu.jpg (2000x1500, 1.39M)

Get the redux fans. They’re black and gray and cheaper.

Attached: 287EA648-5237-4815-9BB7-0FA50DC29629.jpg (800x600, 54K)

No, a 580 "Pulse"

The official reseller on my country put the same price on all noctua fans, even the redux saying on the title it is "price optimized".

Attached: 1510593503160.gif (335x230, 2.81M)

The Redux are cheap because they use the 2009 design and lack most of the "technologies" Noctua uses in the regular ones.

Posted this in sqt but I suppose here is more appropriate

I haven't turned my gaming pc on in like two years, just tried too and mobo isn't even lighting up

What could have happened, most likely? PS randomly died?

They're not as great but the 140mm one makes a great exhaust fan if you can get it on sale for 10 bucks.

>that tiny fucking power supply

so cute, put your system in a full tower without PSU shroud pls

I hate it, when I can't hear my vacuum cleaner over the computer.

>Tfw never used Noctua fans.
I bet that system is hardly audible at idle. They're widely used/shilled for a reason.

There's seven of them. That system will be audible even without electricity.

Attached: theolddygoldy.jpg (6648x2972, 3.25M)

an sfx psu is a must when using a Nano S case, unless you want to choke your videocard.

New pics soon. I finally got my new CPU cooler so I'll be showing that off too. It has RGB fans, but I'm honestly tempted to just yabk those off and replace them with my EK vardar's I have in my closet.

>Ram and vrm without heatsinks
>AIO
I'm confused.

Its some ASUS M3N matx board, a Phenom II 975 and 8 GB DDR2
and 1.5 tb ssd since i cant use the nvme here

You should get a vrm heatsink and overclock that badboy. With such a cpu bottleneck (in most cases) you could probably benefit a good deal from it.

I have it on 4 GHz, but I'll get the new parts anyway this week. It was just an experiment. My old 9600 Phenom was too slow. The 975 is still slow compared to newer CPUs, but twice as fast as the 9600, I never thought the difference would be that great.

Some new games are playable, 60 FPS 100 % load, but if you don't run things in the background 4K is no problem.

Yea I remember the first phenoms.
I sat on socket 939 super excited to upgrade, but the dissapointment was immeasurable (and my day was ruined) when my freind bought his phenom setup.

I actually stayed on 939 until late 2009 before I got my phenom2 setup. Had a DFI Lanparty 790fx board with a 965 @ 4.1ghz.

Didn't even have it a full year, I hadn't been paying attention on Intel's core2 and corei.

Switched to 1366 and never looked back.
