i see, then bring it on, a monitor isn't something you upgrade often so it won't be an issue if it is a top quality purchase.

So I just updated my graphics card from a 960 to a 1080 and from what I had seen I was expecting to get a solid 60 fps in Far Cry 5 at ultra but it's dipping to 47 fps(Which is still a hell of a lot better then before) sometimes and I'm not sure why I'm thinking it's my driver's but I'm not sure Pic is my setup before the 1080 Any ideas?
wew, i could find it for 600 Euros on Ebay. Now I am getting a bit greedier, is there 32" options for monitor with such quality? I mean 144hz, 1440p, IPS and 32".
Julian Young
use DDU to wipe the driver and install it again.

pcpartpicker.com/list/ This is the alternative to that other list that I was considering. It cuts back about $500 and I think it will perform similarly and have about as much versatility/durability. I hope the 8600k overclocked is about as good as the i7-8700k overclocked. I still want 32gb of ram because being on the edge with 16gb makes me feel uncomfortable when upgrading. If 16gb is going to be the new standard then I'd rather be at 32gb so that I can be more versatile in programs and stuff that I do use since I tend to do stuff like multi-box in MMO's, or try to run servers and stuff. I like to keep my computer busy doing background tasks instead of just running one thing at a time, though there are certain cpu intensive tasks that I specifically turn everything off for. I'm also going to wait for Ryzen 2 to see what they have to show. But basically here are the things I want within a budget of around $2400. >1080p gaming, I already have monitors and stuff, I'm not shooting for a high refresh rate or anything. >Powerful CPU that can multitask, record HD video, convert video, compile quickly, run virtual machines etc. (this is an enthusiast part for me) >Spacious and quick ram, no wasted money on rbg shit(this is an enthusiast part for me) >Mobo that doesn't have wifi, that can overclock well, has tons of ports for usb/hard drives, doesn't need RBG shit, preferably has backwards compatible ports as well to reduce the need for random converters. >1060 6GB, this seems like the most efficient part for what I want, I don't really care about the GPU that much and I'm certainly not spending more for a 1070 or better. >SSD, just want a fast boot drive and I might upgrade to x2 500gb drives or a 1tb drive if there's space in the budget. >HDD's I want to leave room for getting 10tb-20tb of 7200rpm hard drive space that's with a reliable brand.
Can only advise you on the CPU, if you're going to run servers and do insane amount of multi-tasking then you might want to consider a Threadripper. Regarding the hard drives, keep in mind that the larger the drive the higher the risk of failure so you might want to get several 4TB drives instead of one large drive. Regarding the ram, you shouldn't worry much about it since it is the easier part to upgrade. It is good that you don't care about LGBT lights, that ought to leave you with lots of cash to spend on what matters.

I'm looking at 200mm fans and basically all of them seem to have different mounting fixtures. Is it not a universal standard like 120mm/140mm are?
t. replacing the broken one in a Core V21.

tfw finally arrived
how did your fan break? Also, how the fuck do you remove this front panel? I don't wanna break something just to take it off.

Ryder Collins
I think the new noctua one should work.
Lucas Martin
Out of curiosity, why did you choose the 2400G over the 2200G?
Tyler Evans
What type of cooler would you pair with the 1900x? Also getting a threadripper won't bottleneck me on doing 1080 gayming right? I figure since it's designed as a server/workstation cpu it's not the best for 4k gaming and the people on PC partpicker running SLI 1080ti's with it are probably retards assuming they aren't doing modelling or editing work. However I do play games at 1080p and want to know if I should lower my gaming expectations if I go for a threadripper. These are actually pretty affordable though and they interest me for what I want to do.
Ayden Roberts
Oh shit, I didn't know they did a 200mm. I'll probably get that, thanks. Threadripper will perform pretty much identically to an 1800x. Unlike with Xeons, there's none of that traditional high core count frequency drop. You might want to use Process Lasso to lock it to one die though.
Jose Adams
At first I was planning on doing the vega 8, coming from using Intel HD for years it would have been an enormous step up. But I started thinking more about what I wanted to do
1. I plan on hosting small game servers with my buddies, and I figure extra threads can help with that (also why I reluctantly shelled out for 16 gigs of ram instead of 8) 2. I plan on recording a little video as well as some video editing 3. The general performance benefits over the 4c/4t and vega 8 will give me a small boost in gaming and basically every other facet of my computing experience so it helps make it worth the price premium.
granted, I had to sacrifice my SSD for a 2tb HDD because of price constraints, but I do plan on getting a few upgrades to my machine in a couple of months.
Andrew Lee
Used 4790k or ryzen if I want to do gaymen? Because of RAM prices getting the 4790k works out cheaper since I already have 16GB of DDR3 and would only need to buy that and a motherboard. I need to upgrade from this shitty AMD FX as soon as possible.
Thank you, I see you've made careful considerations. I was only myself considering the 2200G as a stopgap until Ryzen 2, and with it hopefully sane prices for GPUs.
Elijah Price
I wanna make a future-proof build that will get better over time as follows:
Add dedicated GPU, add more storage, add another RAM stick, replace the Ryzen 5 etc. not necessarily in that order.
Nothing here should be 'budget' apart from the R5.
1. Do my parts have synergy with R5 2400g? 2. What MOBO do you recommend? 3. What PSU do you recommend? 4. Will I have problems with a single RAM stick as opposed to a pair?
pcpartpicker.com/list/PrdJbX Is this a good build then? I actually decided to up to the 1070ti so I don't need to upgrade for a while and I switched to 32gb 8x4 memory since I found out that the threadripper is designed around quad channel memory support. I'm wondering if that cooler will be enough though because I can't find out how to tell if a particular cooler is actually designed around completely making contact with the threadripper head. I was reading that a lot of coolers are *compatible* but they aren't actually designed for use with the threadripper cpu's.
Elijah Turner
Yeah, if you're planning on getting a new CPU as well as GPU, then an overclocked 2200g will hold you over pretty well in low end gaming.
But zen 2 won't be here for a while, so $70 extra bucks isn't really that much over that period of time, unless your budget right now doesn't allow.
used CPU's are always a good deal and they are barely risky. Ram prices are insanely high and if you find a good deal for that 4790k then it will hold you at least for the next five years.
Jeremiah Edwards
Price needs to be right, and you need back up funds in case the mobo gets fucked since that is only part you need to worry about.
But yeah, a 4790k still holds its ground today, especially against Ryzen 5. And since you have ram already then you wont ever find a better deal for a quality system.
Jayden Williams
I've got an r7 1700 and I want to upgrade the cooler because the noise is getting annoying. Should I go full meme and buy a DH-15, or is there a cheap quiet solution considering this thing barely puts out any heat and overclocks like shit?
Colton Bell
I am moving cross country on Monday and i was planning on packing mmy pc in the box the case in. is there anything i should do to make sure it survives? im driving with it myself.
Package the GPU and RAM separately, and if your CPU cooler is heavy do the same for it.
Christian James
Hey there TT bro hade the same problem on my top fan for the Urban S71 just glue it should be fine.
Landon Martin
Is it possible to do an all-AMD Threadripper silent build? I've got all the storage I could need in SSDs and a NAS, and would only be gaming at 1080p, so I'm basically looking at CPU+GPU+RAM+mobo+case+PSU. Pretty much what this guy is asking, only leave storage pricing out of the build.
How long until GPU prices stop being boosted by bitcoin fags?
Cooper Long
would this even work without any onboard graphics whatsoever?
Andrew Lee
1. Yes 2. That one is fine but I'd get the Tuf B350M-Plus for £10 more 3. That one is great, if you wanted to save a little you could get a M12II 520W or a 620 EVO 4. Going with single channel will limit the performace quite a bit, you'd be better off getting the cheapest 3000MHz or 3200MHz 2x8GB kit you can find. Consider getting a SU650 480GB and a WD Blue, the SSD will be slower but you'd get more storage
Highlights: >~24dB CPU fan >fanless PSU >AMD GPU for muh lunax >support for the NVMe and SATA SSDs I already have
Currently my only working PC is a shitty rMBP with 8GB RAM, two cores, and a 128GB soldered SSD so I'm feeling pretty fucking cramped, even using Linux instead of OS X for more IOPS and a smaller disk footprint.
Josiah Thomas
Is a gtx 1060 3gb worth it for 230€ ? I know its a shitty card but it does have better performance than the 1050ti for 200€. The 6gb 1060 is around 350€ where I live and although I really want to get it I would rather not pay full price.
Andrew Phillips
>3GB If you play games that routinely use more than that you're in for a bad time.
Ryder Brooks
Did you upgrade or overclock anything else in your system?
Might be a case of power overdraw through the socket, in which case you should connect your monitor to a separate power outlet.
Liam Roberts
What if I only plan on playing in 1080p 60fps and am ready to sacrifice some visual fidelity and am also willing to turn down cancerous vfx such as mistion blur, chromatic abberation, etc?
Brandon Campbell
I still suspect you're going to get suboptimal performance. How long would it take you to save up the extra €100?
Parker Johnson
I did a search on Amazon for a 1060 so I could use some of my credit card points, and found an EVGA GTX 1060 6GB SC for $300. However, looking at places like NowInStock, it seems like other cards like it are selling for way more.
The deal seems too good to be true. What’s the catch? I think the exact model number is 06G-P4-6163-KR.
Angel Collins
anyone here have experience with VA panels? is it worth dropping g-sync TN for no-sync VA?
Aiden Mitchell
So you're saying that should opt for the solid midgrange GPU that is the 1060 6gb. Should i instead opt for the new gen nvidia cards or just suck it up and pay the premium for a 1060 6gb? Honestly it would take me much to save up an extra 100€ but I really want good performance and futureproof hardware.
Benjamin Robinson
They're already in seperate outlets, and nothing is overclocked. I googled the problem and it seemed like the majority of these problems come from seasonic psu's for whatever reason.
Thomas Edwards
I'd say a 1060 6GB would be the best all around choice of those options for now.
Jacob Sullivan
Thanks user.
Kevin Evans
There's no "thoughts", you have no graphical output.
Blake Baker
The mobo's are very similar, but I'll trust you and other reviewer's comments about some fine details and make the substitution.
Thanks.
Grayson Carter
Then try switching power cables and connections in the psu > gpu.
I don't know if I should pull the trigger or wait for prices to drop more. How far above the norm is this? If it would only save me a few bucks I'll buy it now and save the risk.
Evan King
Are you planning on watching 15 1080p shows all at once?
Christopher Jones
idk man, won't get good framerates on the tiddies with a card like that
Jackson Brown
I want to watch the show realtime in a video editor.
Is there a standard for GPU coolers? Could I get an older radeon hd7000 gpu on a RX500 gpu for example?
Jackson White
Guys, I wanna run a 8700k but I don't know squat about coolers, what should I look for in a cpu cooler for it? I mean any minimum requirements? I live in a pretty hot area, dunno if that matters, even if it won't be in any serious heat, temps here go from 27-35C usually.

If you're streaming I'd get more threads
Go 2 or 4TB, some 3TB models have bad failure rates
Busted link
Eh, crap SSD+monitor/10
Adrian Davis
Clarification, can I expect gpu's within the same series to have compatible coolers and what about gpu's from different series?
No standards since the GPU dies are different sizes and thus the mounting holes are at different places too. You might be able to DIY a mounting bracket for it. It's pretty much easier and cheaper to just buy a card with custom cooling anyways, so unless you are trying to mount a huge ass CPU cooler on it, don't bother.
Henry Gutierrez
Way overpriced
>is it worth dropping g-sync TN for no-sync VA? Probably not, unless you're also upgrading resolution
Keep in mind this is Canadian. I think I'll wait longer though.
Aaron Hall
Thanks! How many threads?
Bentley Powell
get an 8700k which would be 6C/12T or go Ryzen 7 which would be 8C/16T Either would be better than the 8600K which is 6C/6T
Grayson Harris
I don't see the value in those. i7 960 is pretty much obsolete soon and i5 2500K is getting there. I would just buy Ryzen 2200G with some cheap motherboard and 1x8GB stick of ram ram for maybe a 50-100 dollars more but with way better performance and potential for future upgrades.
Hudson Cruz
if you decide to go this route do not do 1x8gb stick for RAM either go 2x4gb or splurge for 2x8gb
Nicholas Brooks
I might just to that but with an X370 board and cheaping out on everything else, cause my budget is $600 and I want an upgrade path.
Grayson Torres
>Keep in mind this is Canadian. I am
Check benchmarks but i7 or 6c R5 or above
Jason Moore
you should wait a week or so for ryzen+ it could help push prices down if you decide to get regular ryzen you could also check out x470 and b450 boards
Andrew Taylor
Yeah I can wait, family, i'm comfy on my thinkpad right now, I just wan't something nice with descrete graphics to game on..
Gabriel Brooks
I appreciate the input.
Zachary Smith
I know how you feel I was using ivy bridge integrated graphics until I recently switched to a 1080 when prices weren't as bad its such a nice change of pace
Owen Taylor
What type of stuff can a 1900x do better at than an i7-8700k? I was kind of hoping it would be able to do a lot better at things like playing CIV VI (in terms of running larger maps, and reducing turn time with the AI) however it seems like the 1900x actually performs worse than the i7-8700k even in cpu intensive games like those. Are those games just optimized poorly? What will the threadripper be better at? I'm legitimately asking and I'm actually wondering if those tests took into account that fact that the 1900x supports quad channel and maybe that could have made a difference? Would the i7-8700k be the better overall performance CPU to select if I don't have any idea what I'd even use the 1900x for?
Right now the thing I'm most excited about is just linking speccy and laughing at corelets but if they're cpu is going to actually be faster I don't see the point.
