Tiny Core Linux

Best distro for toasters and embedded devices coming through.

>can run a full x86-64 OS with a GUI on like 128MB of RAM
>can run modern applications like Firefox on it (needs more RAM than the OS)
>can install applications easily with a friendly GUI app
>boots to the desktop in like three seconds
>no systemdicks
>boot ISO is less than 30MB

Why aren't you guys using it?

I don't use toasters or embedded devices.

Leave this board, normalshit.

>can run modern applications like Firefox on it (needs more RAM than the OS)
So it's useless

I will be when I get a raspberry pi

Firefox needs more RAM than the OS because it's a bloated piece of shit. This isn't the fault of the OS, you retarded faggot.

>Why aren't you guys using it?
it needs a wider range of supported architectures.
wtf no mips, no ppc... I don't even own an arm7 except from a N900.

Compile it yourself. It's smaller than a lot of desktop apps these days.

Damn Small Linux.
Because i love Windows.

Because I'm fine with bloatware. If I'd have somebody gift me a crapbook - i'd install it.

bumpity

Almost ALL browsers require almost 1GB to show a typical 2018 website and swapping is guaranteed.
A
Tip:QNX had a 1.4MB demo disk with GUI, file browser and HTML3 browser.

Better gui than windows 10 or gnome.

Yeah, but now is not then. These days a computer that can't browse the web is pretty much useless dead metal.

woah, what wm is that?

it's package manager sucks/does not make sense

I was installing windows XP and undocked my thinkpad before it rebooted halfway through

It didn't install rest of the stuff from the disk and was running on 30-40mb of RAM

If you can't beat that then go home

just make your own distro if you need something that small

>Can't run on my AMD 5x86 laptop with 16MB RAM
dumped

that doesn't mean much desu

>can run a full x86-64 OS with a GUI on like 128MB of RAM
And Void can do it with like 70, what's your point?

Use FreeDOS.

why even shill?
pretty sure every operating system uses less ram than firefox.. and that's normal
but muh fonts

So it's just a really terrible version of XP?

OpenBSD-amd64 has the same base requirements as 386 port
>16-24 MB for base system excluding X
>32-64 MB with X

128MB is what you should have to run it comfortably. The minimum requirement is 46MB I believe.

Also, this isn't an OS from 2001. Don't compare it to Windows XP, an outdated OS full of security holes that runs like ass. Aside from program compatibility or nostalgia, why would anyone use Windows XP in the current year? It's fucking shit. All the blue screens and horrible driver support is the tip of the trashberg. Use React OS or WINE or something else that's better than that clusterfuck of dlls slapped on top of NT. The UI looks like vomit.

A toaster with under 256 MB of RAM is better served by a contemporary software stack of shit actually built for it than a bunch of bloated GPL shitware.

You just sound like a moron blaming the operating system for your stupidity. You should probably try using an ad blocker next time.

>can run a full x86-64 OS with a GUI on like 128MB of RAM
>can run modern applications like Firefox on it (needs more RAM than the OS)
>boots to the desktop in like three seconds
these can be done with most distros

>it's package manager sucks
So does your grammar.
