Just bought this thing
What should i do with it?
Just bought this thing
Throw it away
the make good file servers, if you don't already have one.
Alternatively, stick it up your ass
Came here to suggest the latter.
Ftp server for access your file everywhere
Why do so many people buy these things and go "nyeeeehhh wut do i do nowww???"
Music player
>the make good file servers
They don't. They make file servers that run at ~1/4 of the drive's/cable's speed [single drive - it gets just worse if you attach more].
And that's the best they can do. Very underwhelming.
"Just imagine all the things i can do with it!"
>orders one
>realize it does just as much as a normal pc, if not less.
file server
router
firewall
console emulator
recording device
If you're buying shit without knowing what the fuck you're going to be using it for, you're nothing but a consumer whore. Just the other side of the coin to Apple faggots.
I have an original B model I used to use as a minimal web server, but it got replaced by a proper blade server.
What can I do with it? 3D printer server with Octopi or something better?
get RISC OS, write BASIC programs and have fun
i use mine as:
>rsync backup server
>media center (kodi)
>torrent seedbox
>mpd server
>general purpose desktop when i'm sitting at my couch
Make a dedicated dust collector out of it
Set up a honeypot
Price tag is cheap enough that a lot of people will impulse buy.
And then it turns out that the same people didn't need a computer or actually needed something better. These may be cheap, but again, they don't even nearly run a single HDD / GBE port at full speed.
oh, i forgot
>internet gateway (3G modem + wlan access point using hostapd)
I use mine to run an instagram bot 24/7.
why?
Ooh, what does it do?
install gentoo
>1/4
dear god i wish you were right
i use one for streaming music and it's ok on small files, but lossless shit takes forever to load
it's something retardedly low like 30 Mb/s
