I go on Reddit to browse through non-defaults. It's far easier to hold a conversation on Reddit to gather information than it ever was on Jow Forums. Jow Forums has one sided conversations that usually die out without gaining much from it. Sometimes the source of new information is helpful but sometimes congested with trolls. Reddit has recently gotten to the point it's the mainstream board of the internet but it's starting to have the same one-dimensional feel that Jow Forums has on non-defaults.

Yeah, someone linked me something on the site the other day and I found it to look so ugly that I actually had trouble focusing on the content. I was trying to figure out why it all looked like shit. In the end, I told my friend I didn't feel like reading it, and I closed the tab. I think I also noticed high CPU usage from the reddit tab. I was auto scrolling and suddenly couldn't escape my autoscroll for several seconds.

I'm a head moderator for a niche subreddit. This redesign and reddit's overrall apparent philosophy for what they want the site to be has made us start making our own website instead.

This user speaks the truth. Reddit is decent for niche stuff, but as soon as you go into a semipopular sub it's apparent that everything Jow Forums says about reddit is true. The community is fucking garbage and the upboat system is shite. It also doesn't help that most major subs are moderated by the same small group of powermods, and they're all typical do it for free hotpockets.

It looks slightly better if you close the side bar (press the x top left of OP's image) and then select the middle of the three layout options (left of the "hot"). It still has that mobile site look though.

Selective roll out over time apparently, so you will have to wait.
