I've unironicially been really happy with Linux Mint KDE. Desktop is nice and minimal, everything just werked with my Vivobook. Only thing I remember having to do was install ffmpegthumbs and enable it in Dolphin so I would get video thumbnails, and switch around my preferences so that the taskbar acted like Windows 7/10.

Yeah it's for noobs or whatever, I don't have the time or energy to spend editing .conf files and trying a million different distros like I did in High School.

It's nice having an OS that feels like it respects me again though, not constantly barraging me with forced updates, and not having telemetry that I can't disable.

Might as well go full autism and just install Arch, gentoo, (regular) slackware or LFS.

One that uses the only non-meme package manager, APT. All others are memes. DNF is YUM but something was changed. Pacman requires a 2rd party repo (aur) to do anything.

i have been using it for like 2 years. everything just works from the japanese input to wayland to mplayer

solus doesn't come with wayland and you can't install chromium or mplayer on it. i need mplayer for anki
