I've heard box whites are barely tactile at all. Anyway, I'll find out soon enough, got a tester on the way

reminder to get yourself a topre mechanical keyboard

I went to a keyboard meet and they had all the new kailh switches on display. Box whites are much more tactile then blues and that's good enough for me

even basic membrane keyboards are mechanical you scrub
that's why the term is stupid

Does anybody have or know where I could buy replacement default keycaps for the 2016 model of the Ducky Shine 6? Pic related are what mine look like, but a couple are scratched up pretty badly and I'd like to get a clean set somewhere. Here's an example of a model from this year i.imgur.com/UUPoUDi.jpg. I'm pretty sure they've changed the font on the keys. If you look at pic my pic you can clearly see lots of the letters are sort of "split apart", while on the new version they just look like a normal font. Also the Shift and Caps keys have closed bottoms on the arrows for the new version

>basic membrane keyboards are mechanical

Attached: 1ce.jpg (225x225, 6K)

If you're being pedantic, membrane keyboard presses are triggered by the mechanical motion of the key contact butting against the membrane. It's mechanical in the sense of "not solid state"

>Implying membranes don't work without switches

when can I buy Ace Pad Tech's newest hall effect switches?

Attached: 1446346323365.png (756x715, 889K)

What's the keyboard in the pic?

membranes are the switch tho, you're probably thinking of rubber domes

Attached: agtic.jpg (362x346, 36K)

IBM model M SSK
they came in many different layouts and colors

Attached: ISO SSK.jpg (2016x1512, 587K)

Do you have a PCB with hall effect sensors on it? If not the sliders & housings would be useless to you.

>Didn't even read my post

Attached: cT6BZyh.png (192x192, 42K)

Ok dang. Is there a cheap imitation of it?

i did, membranes are the switch. you seem confused

Attached: agwim.png (700x700, 362K)

>cheap imitation of a cheap imitation

you could make one yourself out of a unicomp model m. the instructions are on deskthority
deskthority.net/keyboards-f2/unicomp-ssk-from-ultra-classic-anyone-t15238.html

Attached: Unicomp SSK.jpg (3264x1836, 1.57M)

Like something that looks like that and isn't 400 dollars

most SSKs sell for under 250 tho. bolt modded ones sell for that much. don't look at fleebay prices and ask around on deskthority, geekhack, and reddit

Attached: 20170408_144618.jpg (4128x2322, 1.9M)

hmm didnt realize that user i guess no hall effect clickies for me any time soon then QQ

why not print a PCB yourself?

Still more than I want to spend.

youtube.com/watch?v=Bm02Gc7dNh8

And then solder on the hall effect sensors, the various SMD components, the controller, then program the controller. You might as well just buy the acepad board.

sucks to be a poorfag I guess

Attached: Industrial SSK.jpg (1600x900, 335K)

Watch out there, you might give a rebbiter a stroke.

>Implying I don't know that membranes are the switch
>Implying you didn't say membrane keyboard presses are triggered by the mechanical motion of the key contact butting against the membrane
>implying you can't just use your fingers to press on the membrane

Attached: yY70eZfiT0C2rieizgEVkckyXqyyX4W7wM-mcTnTwIc.png (480x480, 435K)

but soldering isn't hard. even cheap cherry PCBs require you to solder everything together and people don't complain

I wouldn't want an ugly one like that anyway

I didn't say
>membrane keyboard presses are triggered by the mechanical motion of the key contact butting against the membrane
that was someone else
>use your fingers to press on the membrane
thanks for understanding exactly what I was implying. glad we're on the same page now

Attached: ccag.jpg (374x374, 39K)

That's because that's all through hole soldering. Maybe SMD diodes at the most. Still, good luck with the controller.

Attached: 600_3170.jpg (721x481, 125K)

yeah ISO is so much better

Attached: IBM SSK QWERTZ.jpg (1535x1151, 177K)

Don't reply to me ever again

Attached: zcrvzdt4ie001.png (771x686, 77K)

why would I not?

Attached: colol.jpg (853x480, 31K)

that's really not that hard tho. maybe if you're an alcoholic it's an issue

If you have the right iron tips, or a hot air rework station, sure.

It is! The blue is fucking gay

>The blue is fucking gay
Um sweetie we don't use gay as a slur anymore it's 2018

I'm sorry that your autistic mind responds poorly to color.

>blue is fucking gay
well I have the keyboard for you

Attached: dasher.png (1193x892, 2.05M)

You're very insecure about your gay keyboard :(

um try again sweetie

Soldering wouldn't be so much of an issue (you can learn how to do half-decent SMD soldering with an afternoon of practice) as would be designing the whole thing. You'd have to make a design for all the sensors, whatever periphery they might need, your controller and whatever periphery that might need and then set up some accompanying firmware since this is an analog and not a digital signal that you want to effectively treat as a digital signal (unless you want to do the cool thing and set it up so you can use the amplitude of the signal for whatever fun stuff). Or you just get some hall effect sensors that trigger at a certain level and send a digital signal, though that'd be rather boring.
Point being, sure it'd be possible, but given the time, effort and especially the cost of a PCB even just the size of a 60% (in small quantities, the price per PCB will go down the more you order, but that's not a good option either unless you want to recoup that money with a GB, which adds to the time and effort thing), along with all the components, will certainly cost you more than a keyboard which has already been designed and produced by the chinks, at far larger quantities than you are probably interested in, hence at a lower price per keyboard than what you could achieve unless you too hire a chink factory to do the manufacturing for you.
Don't let that stop you though, an /mkg/-made hall effect keyboard that makes use of the fact that shit actually uses an analog signal instead of just butchering it into digital would be pretty damn cool.

Attached: photo_2018-04-10_13-17-44.jpg (1280x960, 87K)

This is a one-off prototype instead of the intended final design right? Because they would really need to make the design more drop-in if they want to compete with cherry style. That will require advanced autism to manually do without special equipment.

Help I can't decide between 67g or 78g zealios. For some reason, I can't feel much difference between the two but I like them both.

>zealios

Attached: 44XBqwt.jpg (600x450, 24K)

Just flip a coin then. Or if you find it too easy to bottom out the 67g ones, then go for the 78g.

buy whatever fits your shipping needs better then

Hey, where's that user with the horseshit switch tier pasta?

>tfw can't do SMD soldering easily because of shaky hands
Needing something to rest the iron against makes things so much more difficult

i want a tactile switch thats light quiet

Have a look at gamdias hermes, its $75 @ MSY

shid i might get that
i have been looking at the Cougar Puri TKL and Roccat Suora too

Anyone ever heard of iKBC?

Vortex subbrand apparently and it's recommended a lot.

Get out of our autist thread, double gay fag.

Attached: congratulations_you_did_it.jpg (500x324, 44K)

I have a CD108 and I like it a lot.

apparently the 78g is less tactile. 67g

How about actually buying something other than the filco with those shitty taihao keycaps rather then buying more guns with ammo you can't afford.

Nah, the tactility is the same. Maybe people just have that impression because there's more force past the bump?

Attached: IMG_20170103_154934.jpg (2496x992, 589K)

I remember them. They were heavy af.

Do zilents feel as mushy as mx silent reds? I'm thinking of getting those rather than regular zeals for a quieter switch

From what I've read they're good. Matias quiet click is another option, but I've seen so many bad reports that I wouldn't be game to try

cherry keyboards lag 30ms razer keyboards lag 15ms most of these niche keyboards you get probably lag 50ms

my keyboard lags 0.2ms Bloody B700 (got q700 model for 30$ from china)

>massbuy

is this a real post ?

taihao isnt shitty. they have some pretty cool designs

I already have 7 keyboards but alright you sold me I'll get one of those for vidya.

>Have Rosewill RGB80
>Tempted to buy another because this one 10keyless and can disable Windows key
Anyone else have a good similar to this? Blues or similar preferred. A Model M SSK is more than I want to pay, and the Windows key is nice but I don't always want it on.

My choices seem to be pretty limited, maybe you have an idea

G6v2, need something different

You know every design Tai-Hao sells is copied from existing keysets, right?

Why can't they just make rubber dome with the dome design from topre? What would be lost?

Vortex Race 3

Low cost

alternatives?

I mean it meets all your requirements, but if you don’t like the look you could get a kBD75

i did not know. what do they copy?

nothing he just misunderstood the concept of copy

why do you hate dsa keycaps?

he's just a redditor that thinks people own colors combinations

what did he mean by this?

corporations will sue you for using the same color as them and if its a nobody with no money for burger suitman he will lose

most of them lose tho. cadbury tried to sue nestle for using the color purple to wrap their chocolate bars and lost

they just do that to enforce their copyright. if they could get away with that then all these messaging apps cant use skype blue

What keycaps are an uprade from blank PBT DSA?
Are there any other cheap PBT blanks that are thick?

What are BOX browns like?

their tactility is in between mod m switches and gateron brown switches. I didn't find them tactile enough, but maybe you don't want something ultra tactile

Can I report this shit as spam. This emoji is starting to piss me off.

Attached: pat.jpg (500x366, 40K)

Someone confirmed on geekhack, I think, that the heavier the spring was the less tactility you got on zealios.

where did you find a q700 model? Looking everywhere.
