lets do one of those threads where everyone posts pictures of their computer desk i'll start this is mine ok?
/bsg/ battle station general
Other urls found in this thread:
this is my computer it is dual liquid cooled xeons with 64gb ecc ram and quadro m4000 in a mahogany frame. i also made the desk and the monitor mount thing.
This is mine, any suggestions for how I can improve?
put a bell on that cow, get a second BLUE snowball mic, and devise an explosive self destruct mechanism
Its not great, but its nerdier than anybody else where I live. I don't know if I'm proud, or ashamed.
>3 screens = nerd
Okay
No. But I live in a town of about 1500 people that has one stop light where everyone hangs out at a 7-11.
I'm not insinuating I can compare to you fucks, but I can almost guarantee you I'm the most technically savvy person in my area.
From this:
I've only added a couple figures on display, and got one of those Lacie Rugged hard drives.
Very comfy, I dig
I dream of having a rack, a cozy music station is my goal.
to this: (God bless Craigslist)
>nerdier
Do normalfags even know the difference between a nerd and a geek?
Level up! Nice.
Where did you get that cute little keyboard?
Congrats winning the special olympics.
keyboard heaven
tell me about all the shit in your rack and what it does and what you like most
Dust that shit jfc
What should I improve?
ok.
i've got a mesa boogie rectifier recording preamp with a dbx 266xl compressor and rane ge27 graphic equalizer in it's effects loop going into an avid eleven rack for cabinet and microphone modelling. there's a power conditioner at the bottom. everything goes into the TOA D-4/D-4E rack mixer at the bottom, and there's another TOA D-4 mixer up top, next to the stereo ashly CL52E compressor and a stereo rane me15 graphic compressor. above that is a patch bay.
in this picture, you can see i have yet more TOA D-4 mixers. they're fucking phenomenal and can be had for a song used, no ones picked up on them yet but they have fucking world class mic preamps in them and 4 auxillary busses as well as 4 way midi through. also, some kind of soviet reverb/echo/delay/modulation something or other, made in the USSR.
once i get a spool of cable and a bunch of connectors i'll patch it all up to my yamaha aw16g multitrack hard disk recorder. as it is i just play through my mesa boogie/compressor/EQ/eleven rack setup. the mesa boogie is my favorite thing, though i like my 2000 dollar squier custom shop telecaster even more.
Um it's nice to have a hobby
It's pretty dark in this picture to tell
The wall stuff deosn't look that good
It can probably look a bit nicer i you just tidy the cables
fuck off nerd
Looks normal
The end result is multiple channels you can pipe a band into (mic guitar keyboard etc.) and record analog along with all analog FX?
Im trying to get into recording gear but its a daunting amount of info to understand anything
Needs some cable management down there
basically yeah. though it's more set up to record just a couple sources very well, rather than many sources, it's perfectly capable of full band recording. i've disavowed the computer daw thing entirely after a decade of it. instrumentalism is where it's at.
as for 'getting into recording', honestly just use the computer, it's cheaper, though most of my stuff was used and not expensive at all. if you're dead set on computer free recording, depending on what you're doing you can set it up lots of different ways, but it's not functionally different than using a daw. just instead of vst's and software mixing you have hardware and mixers and mics and sources. i'd start by figuring out what the actual recording device will be and going from there, you don't actually need more than what most digital multitrack recorders will have internally (they're hardware daws) unless you're going with tape. which will require you to be a tape hardware technician, nowadays.

if you want proper stereo imaging you should place your speakers farther apart
those are just for casual listening. non-expensive monitors and a bedroom aren't going to produce better mixes than sony mdr7506 headphone monitors. they sure sound great for general use and listening just as a boombox though, with the bass boosted and treble cut a bit on the TOA mixer. really, really well balanced, easy listening at low volume, thumping at high volumes.
Cable managment and bookshelf speakers.
oh hai /o/!
nice twingo!
I guess it's weird to actually prefer my beds to be flat against the ground. At any rate good for you dude; looks like this ordeal has really polished your bargain hunting skills.
What country are you from, and why do you like it flat against the ground?
/comfy/
>monitors side by side, stereo is not important 2017
that's the dumbest place to put those speakers but I bet this isn't the first time someone told you this.
American, and I've liked them like that since my early teens because I had a horrible time with old school metal bed railings. One time my friend and I were running around, play fighting and what not and my friend just stops while i'm still laughing with a look of shock on his face like "dude, your leg!"
I had cut myself super deep, to the bone without realizing it just passing too close to the railing. They also make too much noise for my taste and I don't like feeling so high from the ground metal or otherwise. Later on in life I stayed in Japan a year and started to appreciate the ole tatami+futon combo.
My current bed just sits on the wooden floor. If I need to move it to clean it slips easy against it and the bed feels super firm which I like.
Fair enough
to this
I've said it before and I'll say it again:
why not the sexy nzxt cooler?
those speakers are really ugly user
also
>chekzem
Nice.
>tfw it's literally better than mine an i've never been in a flood
no, but why would you use those terms when 'hobbyist' is less cringe
RIP hd7970

Your cables make me scream

Nice one. What do you think about led backlighting? Imo it'll be great with your setup
This also needs some backlighting
Is it comfortable to sit without a headrest?
Looks empty
You already know who i IS
what is the art on the right called?
Cocoon mode in my ghetto apartment for a few more years. Cheap but effective
>Nice one. What do you think about led backlighting?
Thanks. Ive used led strips for backlighting in most of my other setups, but I decided against it for this one and Im glad for it. The lamps on either side are dimmable and give off enough light, plus with three screens at 30% brightness I have zero issues with sitting in front of them for extended periods of time.
nice color setup user, dig the white
what's your amp?
having a speaker sit at an arm length in front of you literally does nothing to the perceived acoustics because there are no roommodes applying at all at this distance. only reflections from a wall behind the chair could make trouble but you mostly have it covered with shelves or other sort of things, also vastly depends on the wall conditions if it is solid steel concrete or thin paper with stuffed with mineral fiber insulation.
All right let's do this. No bully pls.
Because I got the H100i V2 for $60 Canadian pesos when that cost $150ish
FAGGOT
iMac/10
a bit cluttered with the Gamecubes, but 7.5/10 overall
I appreciate the attempt at aesthetics with the acoustic foam placement, but you could probably use a lot more to actually provide decent dampening. Overall still 9/10
rotate/10
4/10. if you have parkinson's, get someone else to take your pictures
8/10 comfy
empty as fuck, but decent enough for what is shown 7/10
memes/10
5.5/10, could easily be 7 or 8/10 with some work
8/10
8/10, though not sure how I feel about all that light from the GPUs and radiator fans
6/10, decent tinkering/repair area
6/10, not much to say besides you need an upgrade at somepoint
7.5/10, a bit too cramped for my taste
5/10, the cupboard desk kills it for me.
6.5/10, could be better with matched monitors and a keyboard upgrade
7/10, good progress
looks like a tight fit with the bed there, 6.5/10
8/10, comfy, the art is a bit lame though
6.5/10, desk and lighting are just not great in my mind, also what's up with that computer placement? Did you specifically move it to try and show it off in this picture?
glassdesk/10
I bought cable ties for my setup, but i've been too lazy to get under my desk and go to town on the mess of cables. One day.
yes. fuck stereo.
well, that certainly seems like the desk of someone who has such shitty taste
IM SUCH A NERD XD
I'll bet he's even watched Marvel movies before, the dork.
does that huge power crystal next to your hard disk help protect against rotational velocidensity based bitrot

ur camera a shit

hell all your family
did you just move apartments
cats are better than dogs

quit smoking, ew
why do people put stickers on their monitors, it looks like a child's computer
fix your speaker setup
white color best color though

apply yourself
>portrait monitor
yes
Phat set up!
Need a carpet though.
How much is a pack of fags where you are?
does that huge power crystal next to your hard disk help protect against rotational velocidensity based bitrot
actually, by use a quantum tunneling effect primed by active psychic conditioning, it acts as the 'watch quartz' for my solfeggio tuned computer system.
We've got the same pipe.
Got the 120 battery holder for mine.
neet/10
what's that keyboard though? model m?
>model m?
Only fucking name you soy's know!
That's the Dell AT101W!
Cracking keyboard m8!
Look at your local carboot sale and you can find loads of old keyboards for 50p
Best setup in the thread.
How?
Theirs fuck all there.
I am seriously disappointed by your speaker placement.
>Theirs
it's boombox style, they're for casual listening only, cheap monitors in a bedroom aren't going to yield a better mix than good headphones, and for a boombox with the bass boosted and treble cut slightly on the TOA D-4 mixer they're super good.
It's a hot day you cunt!
To busy melting to death to be a there connoisseur
>"Don't talk to me until I've had my coffee!"-tier excuse for sucking ass at English
interesting. no doubt you must use your kek icon as a channel for the excess psychomemetic energies generated by their synergetic relationship? have you considered using a turbo encabulator? Chrysler used them in their vehicles for a time but with the right modifications, should suit your needs well.
>no doubt you must use your kek icon as a channel for the excess psychomemetic energies generated by their synergetic relationship?
the handstand kek is aligned with my de-ionized holy water, which has been blessed by a bishop of the vatican. this acts as a psychomemetic lightning rod/antenna, allowing me to collect excess loosh in the general area and recycle them through the heat transfer system of the binary CPU's. the smaller one is indeed a sump, creating a magnetoreluctant field around the chrystal that acts as a form of noise-shield, lowering the instability of the quartz, as well as shielding the wifi antenna next to it from viral attacks on my morphic fields.

The irony!
Me on the chair.
Where'd you find that sick desk?
Also, nice rack ;)
which keyboard pls ;-;
You have some of the strangest most useless pre daw hardware I’ve ever seen
>Where'd you find that sick desk?
i made it, from lumber reclaimed from an old barn, pic related.
keyboard heaven kb60
art is useless to begin with
This has to be an old pic. There is no way someone still uses a Yamaha 2000 series digital mixer. I’m blown away
took it yesterday. it's a yamaha AW16G. lots of people still use them, there are forums for that series of multitracks.
No regrets.
>all those crts
I unironically really love this station
man, very happy for you. had the same thing on the go for me a few years back when i moved back to this area. glad to see you doing better!!!
>all those too messy or too clean rooms
All? No, those are only some of them.
So uncomfortable. Looks like a setup Hugh Jackman would have
