to get answers, I've never had this problem before. I googled it and the suggestions were all about updating chrome/ deleting history/ re-downloading flash. However, youtube works just fine with internet explorer.
I googled ytimg and the solutions are all for countries where youtube is blocked.

Make sure you have javascript enabled for youtube.com. If you're using a script blocking ad-on, make sure to allow exceptions for googlevideo.com and ytimg.com.

I'm not OP but this started happening on youtube a week or so ago.
It also happens on some other specific sites few months ago.
The problem is, those sites are using shitty modern "minimalistic" placeholders. And these placeholders are fucking up when their css/js dont load in proper order due to adblock.
