This thread is about the appreciation of horology, as well as the micro-engineering and materials engineering that are required to make a fine watch, clock, Casio aq230, or other timepiece.
Some guy was just testing other m8s claim that he bid over 400 on that. The highest bidder is a new account with 0 feedback, he wont pay for it even if he wins.
Michael Nelson
>17bids to $183 for a $35 watch in 10mins what is wrong with this site
Let me give you a watch related example: >You want a watch >Rolexes are great watches but expensive >Casios are great watches and cheap >"Guys is a casio a good deal?"
Unironically these, at least browse the previous threads for new pictures of new watches bought by anons ffs.
Owen Collins
If you're holding your arm out to take a picture of your watch, that's how your wrist naturally falls, at least for me. Especially since you generally try to put some distance between the camera and the watch, especially for smartphone pictures, to avoid distortion due to focal length.
Which of these should I buy /wt/? > ESA9162, except in an omega case and therefore pricier than any other ESA9162 > Some seiko sub knockoff > Zodiac, but without the good movement
Liam Collins
I've never do that, I try to make the watch centered between my knuckles and forearm
Cooper Brown
Again?

Sapphire is not expensive or anything. It doesn't even look nice irl unless it's blue. If you want to trick your gf, get some used swarovski jewellery on auctions sites.
Zachary Barnes
This is technology. Lets not guy some old tech shit.
Benjamin Cook
What Seiko?
Jacob Edwards
Is it not the second hardest material known to man past a diamond?
Jonathan Miller
a casio is a good deal user
Liam Price
boron carbide is also harder than sapphire
Kayden Parker
Not really. It's very hard and the second hardest common naturally occurring mineral, though.
That one is synthetic, and it's pretty easy to produce synthetic sapphires and has been for a long time. They're cheap and commonly used, your watch probably has a whole bunch of small synthetic rubies (red sapphires) in it and entire watch crystals made out of synthetic sapphires are very common so that should tell you it's not too hard to grow a big clear synthetic sapphire.
Jaxon Howard
Yes, and ? Gold is pretty low on mohs but is lot more expensive. In the jewellery business the important factors are >How nice something is >How rare it is
Robert Parker
>it's a sapphire the size of a walnut for $12 >as long as it's literal sapphire crystal i think it would be neat, I could buy a couple of them and whip them at my gf when she's beign bad This made me laugh for some reason, I can just imagine some random seiko wearing user whipping sapphires at his ugly gf in some random shitty college ikea furnished apartment somewhere
Nathan Evans
I get that I am not buying the hope diamond user, I just think it would be neat to have a real huge sapphire
Parker Martinez
>that OP >my Casio has a cracked screen Am I a monster?
bro you can not buy shit made in Briton and worry about it being fucked up, have you never heard of triumph motorcycles? it's a full time job just to keep them running
So you got a block for avatar fagging and now that it's over you are just going to continue?
Kevin Young
>be Saudi gayrab >pick up new custom Daytona from AD and pay for it with pocket change >wear it out >someone notices >stoned to death moments later >people on the internet mock your watch for years to come
