Installing Gentoo: Day5

Welcome to my blog Jow Forums, where I will share my progress on setting up Jow Forumsentoo for the first time. To sum it up:

> Installed Gentoo
> Got Wifi working yesterday

Should I remove the qt flags? that way I would only use gtk. Is it a good idea?

what do you need webkit-gtk for?

Btw did you set the MAKEOPTS variable in your make.conf ?

Pulseaudio is required because of some decision mozilla made. For firefox there should be a firefox bin package available if you want to spend less time, though I don't know about the dependencies.

Yeah I used the Firefox-bin. Well I am setting up pulse audio now. Do I need to add the pulse audio global flag and recompile everything again?

I did set my Makeopts to - j3 since my processor has two cores.

The various T420 CPUs have 2c/4t, no? If you have four threads, it would be good to have these things set in your make.conf:
MAKEOPTS="-j5 -l4"
EMERGE_DEFAULT_OPTS="--jobs=4 --load-average=4 --keep-going"

If you remove some global flags and apparently there is a package that requires it, emerge will enables that flag for that package only.
