>Is Apple the greatest tech company in history?
No, Microsoft is.

their market cap certainly indicates so

>Microsoft
lmao

It's certainly among the greatest ones, it contributed a lot to computing history. Sadly, after Jobs died, it didn't take long for the products to turn into pure shit both in terms of design and quality. I really don't like what they do today, but I love the history of Apple, it's a really interesting story.

It's a product first company. Not a tech company. That's one of the reasons they have been so successful.

Yes

Starting with early Apple:

>first personal computer with color raster graphics
>the computer that defined the modern graphical desktop metaphor that we've known for the past 35 years (The Alto was a clunky prototype at best)
>thanks to its square-pixel display, created the WYSIWYG desktop publishing industry with the LaserWriter
>created digital video (not analog video superimposed with digital effects like the Amiga)
>created a proto-Web hypermedia framework named HyperCard
>defined the modern laptop form factor with palm rest and pointing device at the front

moving onto NeXT:

>the first object-oriented OS
>defined the "chiseled grey widgets" look of every 90s GUI, mostly notably Windows 9x
>had realtime scrolling and window-dragging ahead of anyone else
>advanced typography and internationalization at the system level
>the first display with over 1 million pixels
>the first graphical IDE with Interface Builder
>literally built for the Internet
>the birthplace of the World Wide Web, Doom, and Quake

then onto Apple Phase II:

>first computers to make a clean break from legacy technology like floppy drives and serial / parallel ports
>first graphical OS with a composited, hardware-accelerated window manager
>defined the glossy, translucent look of every other 00s GUI
>defined the PMP with the iPod, with a hard drive that could hold 1000 songs in your pocket
>the first successful digital retail media store (iTunes)
>brought 802.11 Wi-Fi to the mainstream with AirPort
>forked KHTML to create WebKit, the greatest browser success story outside of Firefox
>first laptops with integrated webcams
>defined the modern smartphone with responsive multitouch gestures, smooth hardware-accelerated graphics, and a real Web browser
>defined the modern app store and created the first mass-market mobile software ecosystem
>defined the contemporary ultracompact laptop form factor
>defined the modern tablet based on iOS
>set the standard for hi-DPI displays with scaled graphics

>is
No. Kill yourself

WHERES THE STEVE JOBS SMUG PEPE

kys corporate cocksuckers

>corporate
Isn't literally every consumer company a corporation?

Fagot

(cont’d)
>single-handedly persuaded music labels to drop DRM from their digital content
>single-handedly responsible for the deaths of browser plugins like Flash Player and Java
>the first 64-bit processor in a smartphone
>the first and best true wireless headphones
>best-in-class trackpads have been putting Windows OEMs to shame for over a decade

I wonder if there's a way to filter these apple and intel shill threads.

Apple isn't a tech company, it's a label
All the technology, manufacturing and assembly is done in other companies

in history of overcharging for computers. $5000 for a computer less powerful than an Intel NUC with superior specs just because you get a nice monitor permanently stuck to it. Cannot manage apps in iTunes anymore. Cannot run 32-bit apps 10.13. Disks constantly corrupted by macOS. Sorry, Disk Utility can't repair this brand new drive. Keyboard morphing into a touchscreen.

>tech company
No. But it's a strong lifestyle brand.

>apple made WYSIWYG
didn't xerox do that?

Did you fail reading comprehension in elementary school?

It is greatest fraud company in the world, that shouldn't exists, but for some reason it does.

Everything should be workers collectives.
Surely we'll have better processors when we remove consolidated R&D and manufacturing!

Just like Solid, Reliable, Performant, British Leland.

Ignore it.
Also yes, are you actually retarded - the native extension can do exactly that.

It's the best computer company marketing its products as jewelry in history

Are mactoddler sheep the most brain dead troglodytes to walk this earth?

Those would be Winsheep.

Greatest Tech business? Probably; great marketing, first movers on the Smartphone front and has a legion of brainwashed applings, ready to buy any product.

In context to innovation and user experience, they are up there, the only posetive thing i can think about apple is their OS is a thousand times better than Win10, and their laptops are usually pretty well built, but overpriced.

Not quite sure who is the most innovative Tech Company? what do you guys think?

>>sent from my ThinkPad
I can see why you consider it a notable achievemnt.

Innovative - SpaceX right now.
Not inventors, everything they have was made by someone else first.
But they're managed to make it commercially viable.

Hell based on the information for the TESS launch a few days back - they actually managed to 'land' the fairings (West coast launch though, for which they don't have a fairing recovery ship since they only has a few West Coast launches are year, most everything is from the Cape, mostly LC39A at KSC or alternatively SLC40 at CCAFS (less than 10 miles from each other)

Inventive in the rocketry arena would be Electron, not only have they put forward new thinking, but they're currently the most vertically integrated of them all, since even SpaceX order out for turbopumps, Electron uses an in house wound electric motors for the pumps.

>has a legion of brainwashed applings
As opposed to the nine times as big army of Microsoft sheeple.
