>How long have you been on Jow Forums for? Been using the interest boards for some time. Only started using random boards a few years ago. >What has changed since you first arrived here? I really can't think of any big changes.
I started in middle school... I was 13 and this 20 year old dude sent me the link as he was dating my friend. Pedo af now that I think about it. I posted a "lolcats" meme on Myspace and then he told me "do you wanna send where these really originated?"
I'm 24 now. 11 years of my life.
Eleven. Years.

this the first time i visited this website. i heard about this website many times but never visited it since i just watch youtube all the time or go on reddit

WHY DOES /qa/ GET A BIRTHDAY STICKY AND NOT Jow Forums
I think I've been here since 2008, which means I've officially been here for a decade. Everything has changed since then, the site is barely recognizable from what it once was, first with the fappening, then with 2016 spreading robot culture across Jow Forums. I wish we could turn back time.
2007, I don't know why I linger, but I cannot leave. Maybe some part of me is crazy enough to think that it'll get better again. For a while it did on Jow Forums, but all good things must come to an end.

9 years textboards died, bunch of stupid other boards were created
I came here from iichan around 2017 and only heard of Jow Forums through legends until then.

The bottom of the catalog on /po/, /t/ and /vip/ still features threads which have the old obnoxious anti-adblocker code respectively the previous oversized banana-in-ear ads. Website as a cache of the database that never gets invalidated sure is a mixed bag.
Joshua Carter
11 years, I'm 22 right now so I pretty much grew up here.
There was no post timer or captcha then, and you could also hide .zips and java script worms in images before uploading if you knew what you were doing, you had to hit F5 to quikly refresh the page /b/ was the core of the site and had not yet been made irrelevant by 5 dozen topical boards. Jow Forums at the time was like many sites on the internet in that it was just a small/medium community among 100s or 1000s of small/medium communities, and I remember the boards having much more distinct "cultures" than they do now instead of everything being reduced pepes and wojaks. Generals weren't a thing and the only archive was 4chanarchive which only saved threads that were submitted and voted on, so you didn't have all of the mundane threads to sort through.
That isn't to imply that it was perfect, moderation could be bad as a result of it being either overbearing or non-existent, moot still made the occasional mistake in managing the community (forced user on /b/), and they way that anonymous behaved and characterized itself ultimately enabled the shitshow that was chanology.
I'd say things are worse now, but I can also recognize that what Jow Forums was in 2007, was a product of its time. If this site has a Golden Age again it won't look like the old days but rather be something of its own.
You say that, but early Jow Forums strongly resembled /b/ in form, or what /b/ would have been like if it was newly made today. Now it's a fight against the tide to not be subsumed by the standardized WoPep culture attempting to monopolize the site.
Anthony Green
Whenever Jow Forums was made. Jow Forums has since grown into a disgusting mix of self-contained generals and Jow Forums circlejerking which is why I dumped it for Jow Forums. /b/ was never as self-aware or self-referential as Jow Forums.
Jace Williams
>Whenever Jow Forums was made. Around 2010 iirc, it was the same time /sci/ was made
Blake Wood
Wish I grew up with 4chin instead of a normal social circle and shit. They left while the internet is still here with me..sigh here is to 15 more.
I had both, its kinda weird how highschool ended for me and I stopped seeing my friends from there shortly before GG and the fappening, and thier aftermath have kinda managed to leave Jow Forums stagnant for the most part.
It certainly feels like it at times
Matthew Bennett
You can still cast of the chains of normality, first by discarding the frog and finding your own path. Also, didn't you people used to have a Greekchan?
William Kelly
I've been here lurking for about 10 years. I thing this is my sixth or seventh post.
Lincoln Long
That really you KoG? I heard legends that you're an originalfag of Jow Forums itself.
Austin Smith
I've been on Jow Forums since December 2017, before I was known as the legend "Tom Nook" (Well…half-legend or somethin')
I never frogpost I just like that image. Also if greekchan exists, I can imagine what kind of shithole worse than a shithole it is.

So I come to Jow Forums and try not to be gay. But this is literally first thread and next one is about a bottle of cum. Jow Forums what are you doing with me? I don't want other people to think I have no personality other than being a faggot(even though I really don't have one). Can you please stop being gay for a day or at least concentrate gayposting in one thread?
I've been here for about five years, and I must say the site goes down a lot more often than I remember it ever doing under moot.
Michael Gomez
I can remember times when the site shitting itself was rather common under moot, but that was around the time he had just got out of highschool.
Juan Edwards
Probably had much weaker servers as well. At least there wasn't cloudflare to worry about, no?
Ryder Myers
Huh. Jow Forums seemed like it was older than that, but the site history says otherwise.
Jace Green
Cloudflare has been a thing since 2007 IIRC, it's been here for a while.
Adam Gomez
I've been here since 2008, and the biggest changes for me were the radical departures in culture for the random boards. Both Jow Forums and /b/ are unrecognizable from what I first remember them, and not in a good way. For /b/, it obviously became just porn, but for Jow Forums a couple small aspects for it, the blogging and the frogging, both inflated to the point that now they're all the board cares about, and it seems to have permanently gotten stuck on those two topics for years now so there isn't any hope that either board will change into something that, if not better, is at least different, you know?
As far as boards I go to that didn't really change, there's /m/. Jow Forums is also largely the same and never became too self-conscious about itself the way that /tg/ did, but it also lost a bunch of useful namefags over the years.
Blake Cooper
I came here from 2009-2008ish, brought here by Minecraft classic and assuming that this site was the best way for Notch to communicate his ideas. Nothing needs to be said about what happened to /v/ since then, but I really wish that the sense of community had persisted.
Benjamin Barnes
> that the sense of community had persisted i miss it too, it was fun when each board use to have clans for cosmic break. You couldn't get that past the mods now.
Angel Russell
I came here 2010 around the time WoW tried to push real-ID bullshit and I came to /b/ to try and get those chucklenuts to DDoS them in response. Got told I was a faggot, but it was worth it as I've been hooked on this site ever since. /b/ became a fucking shitpit since, but catalogue has been a godsend.
Jack Campbell
>Unironically expecting /b/ to be your personal army Let me guess, WoW OT board?
I came here around 2006 and left it for Krautchan but then Krautchan died so now I am here again. I don't know what changes happened other than that this is /b/ and /b/ is now porn.
Lucas Bell
WoW OT was the best guy I don't know what you're talking about. It was like if youtube comments didn't suck.
Literally yesterday. I managed to see more non-porn than porn threads on /b/ that day. Was neat, now I'm here.
Charles Russell
April 20th 2007, it was 4 days after the Virginia Tech shooting (I was at the school when it happened but not the building) /b/ was posting a lot of pictures and troll threads and I was "triggered" I have not left since
Alexander Gomez
Welcome to Jow Forums. You will one day wish you never saw this site.
I'm a 2013er who spent most of his time on /v/, and the biggest change I've noticed is how Pepe and Wojak, but mostly Pepe have leaked out out their containment boards and contaminate just about every part of the site. I miss when boards had their own unique culture and people trying to "mix" them got shouted down to lurk moar.
Alexander Ward
Unfortunately no.
Justin Lewis
Do we at least get rid of those hideous porn ads and add spoilers? Get rid of the ads? Anything?
Justin Foster
No, and they've spread to [s4s].
Wyatt Baker
I joined around 2013 when Hispachan lost its steam. I lurked in Jow Forums a bit before deciding to try out /v/, but this place is the calmest for me.
Blake Harris
Not gonna lie, I've only been here since late 2016, but I think I got lucky since the site actually improved a bit when Jow Forums first came out, only to slowly decline which is where we are today.
Showed up on 2014 as a drifter. Jow Forums used to be useful, but now it's just Jow Forums drama half the time or shitposting over video cards.
Parker Sanchez
Did you come here pre- or post hiro?
Tyler Mitchell
Hmm? Looking at it, it's got a few frogs, but nothing that screams it's being buttfugged the same way /tv/ and Jow Forums have.
Daniel Clark
It's pretty during summer, where entire pages worth of greentext blogs take up the board. I browse Jow Forums for vintage electronic information at times.
Luke Butler
2012er here, another reject from the WoW OT forums after Blizz pulled the plug on us so we fucked off to /v/. Naturally, catalogues, /vg/ happening, the generation shift, GG, moot leaving were all major changes on the board, but I like to think out of all the major boards /v/ is the one with Jow Forums's "soul", after /b/ got nuked by porn.
I was here long enough to remember when people posted unironically.
Brandon Ward
/v/ would be better if it didn't have so much self-doubt. For a board that strives of supposedly speaking their mind, they let themselves get shut down the moment someone else calls their project "cringey".
Justin Walker
One thing I love about Jow Forums is the zippy post timer compared to just about everywhere else. It makes this board usable.
Oliver Sanders
Come to think of it, maybe that's why everyone whose still here uses it. It allows you to communicated much faster than /b/.
Joshua Fisher
/b/ is pretty fast, if you'e talking about slow random boards, look no further than Jow Forums and /qa/, which are both a slog to participate in in comparison.
Sebastian Ortiz
That's awful.
Aaron Torres
It is spread to all red boards. It is a matter of course.
Isaiah Ramirez
four months after launch, the ride never ends
Brayden Rodriguez
Four months from the launch of the site?
Connor Roberts
You ever think we're gonna stick around long enough to see the end of Jow Forums? How much longer is this site good for?
Camden Carter
I'll probably be here until the end, there have been times when i thought the end was near but was ultimately proven wrong. And even on the couple occasions where i did take extended breaks from using the site i still felt an urge to come back
Julian Russell
That's truly what I hate about the site and why I hope it does die some day, so all the other image boards could be given a chance. By centralizing image boards, Jow Forums has become in a sense what it hates.
Carson Martin
8ch is next in the line for succession, and if Jow Forums dies you can bet hiro and the staff will migrate there and everyone else will follow suit because even thought it seems everyone hates the moderation they're what makes a site "official".
Camden Lee
While it is true that Jow Forums's death would send its most avid users to other imageboards, remember that they probably wouldn't want a massive influx of people from here given how bad the cancer on the big boards is.
They probably couldn't handle the increase in server traffic
Nathan Green
It says something that in spite of all the unpopular decisions, Jow Forums is still growing. The only way I see the site dying is if hiro or some other high-level staff did something illegal to shut it down, which given what less allegedly shady sites have been allowed to get away with, I see unlikely.
Liam Hughes
People think that, but Jow Forums shrank rather than grew as recently as 2014. It just takes a big enough unpopular decision to get people to recognize there are alternatives, even though some people really are slaved here.
Nathan White
All i really want is for Jow Forums to be out of the lime light or for english chans to no longer be dominated by 1 site
> Jow Forums shrank rather than grew as recently as 2014 Me and everyone who left for 8gag that September were more than offset by all the retarded newfags from social media that came in the following year.
