This thread is about the appreciation of horology, as well as the micro-engineering and materials engineering that are required to make a fine watch, clock, or other timepiece. Discussion of replica watches is also welcome.
I've changed the batteries of a horrible fake of this watch just last week. The build quality was atrocious, but seeing the general looks and proportions of this watch irl, I can now understand the appeal. These are really neat watches.

Then I want to be a mall dad when I grow up.

Have a real thing for the Reverso and the Tank. They are just different enough to be eye catching while being reserved enough to blend in. I really want a Reverso duo face.
>that looks hideous Objectively one of the best looking watches in recent history and iconic. But I guess it's your incorrect opinion and your free to feel it. >and passes because of the name history, looks, designer, and the fact it saved the Swiss mechanical watch industry. I'm sure you just missed the end of your post and that's fine, it happens sometimes.
The opposite for me. I think the wings on the Nautilus hideous but think they are very interesting from a mechanics point of view. I love the dial, bolts, date window, and bracelet of the RO. I'm not a fan of the hands and markers 2bh. Yeah as soon as you stray from the thin steel base watches it becomes way too much.
I have a DW5600 but I wanna mechanical chrono. I have that, an SKX007 and another G-Shock.

The 7750 is well respected, but also generic as fuck at this point. Sinn has some horological merit, it's definitely a good step above mallwatch tier.
If a chrono is what you want, and your budget is what it is, it's not a bad choice.

Opinions? The strap is not mine, it's from the small stock of natos I keep in the store. Maybe I should get one with gold-plated hardware to match the accents of the watch.
>Me finally finding a watchmaker that I can trust with my watches >Me doxxing the watchmaker so he gets angry and won't fix my watches in the future Nah, I am not a dickhead, but I can send it to you via post or whatever. If that would make you feel safer about it.

Speaking off I'm going to get a new strap for this, what would look best? I'm thinking something "raw leather" looking
So here's something interesting (or not). I keep some Z22 "third party replacements" (i.e. cheap chink knockoffs) in stock as an option for customers that want a cheapo plastic strap.
So here's a pic, the ones in the center are the knockoff strap, while the ones on the sides are the genuine Z-22 that came on my Baby Tuna. The knockoff looks like it's made out of polyurethane, while Seiko Z-22's are rubber I believe.
You'd better take a lot of pics when that thing shows up. The SBGVs are so nice they are seriously tempting me away from the hi-beats.

I get it that they're supposed to be "clones", but was it really necessary to print "Seiko Z-22" on it in shitty text? And apparently these are completely "street-legal" straps, they were legitimately imported by the wholesaler (from PRC, of course) and put up for sale.
Or maybe because the E is a bit different, it's SCIKO instead of Seiko. Also wearing a glove to spare /wt/ from my mangled nails, and chemical dried skin.
I think waffle rubber looks nice. It's also a classic Seiko style but without the accordion folds that I don't like. Or if you want to spend way too much then I think Seiya sells the B22 strap which is the one that comes with some of the higher end Tunas and it's the nicest feeling rubber strap I've handled.
