On which OS?

IE6

From my experience, Firefox handles 2gb systems well I installed it on my T61 with XP SP3 for muh retro gaymen and it was fine.

If you could find a way to get an older version of Chrome to work, I have Chrome 27 on a 2ghz P4 Dell C640 and it uses next to no memory at all compared to today's browsers. No bloat, no botnet, it just works.

suckless surf

Have you tried Otter? Midori is okay for casual stuff, too; I think that it even has an extension adder.

will try, thanks

This. Buy Mintbox Mini 2 when it comes out and sell your current PC. MB Mini Will probably be more power efficient and faster than whatever you're using now.

Firefox works, I suggest you use 32bit OS. I have Firefox + W10 32 on Atom tablet/convertible with 2GB RAM and it works perfectly for browsing (multiples tabs included) and office work. It has eMMC storage, not a HDD though. It is probably worse with HDD.

Lynx.

>Buy Mintbox Mini 2
WTF retard, are you shilling or what? That thing is hardly good deal for the money.

It has it's use. If you're already using a garbage desktop this will be a major improvement. For 350$ you're quadrupling your RAM.

It is kernal

Pale Moon is extremely light on resources, it's snappy on my ancient machine with 1 GiB worth of ram, so I can imagine it being only better with 2 GiB. If Pale Moon seems too "outdated" for your taste (it's not outdated, it's the meme), Basilisk may just about do it for you

Use whatever the fuck you want. Benching for memory is a fucking joke because they never disclose how much memory the test system has since all browsers anymore will cashe the shit out of things and take up as much memory as they can.
FF works fine on 2GB of RAM.

opera light weight as fuck and actually is privacy oriented with a nice amount of settings and customisability

2Gb RAM implies 256MB RAM. Only suitable browser is

it's always poor people that hate capitalism and love communism. maybe get off your ass and do something with your life rather than being a glorified neet.
>hurr i r in school
not an excuse. if you can't work a part time job on the side during the weekends for a few hours how do you think you're going to balance life + work?
>hurr europoor
enjoying that socialism are you?

really, if you can't afford a 8gb, let alone a newer used chinkpad that comes stock with 4-8gb of ram you really need to reevaluate your life.

Vivaldi should work. Uses less RAM than Firefox.

Also upgrade your fucking RAM. I bought 8 GB DDR2 for 20 € recently, DDR3 should be also cheap.

Attached: qutebrowser.png (990x716, 112K)

palememe works for me on 1GB with 20+ open tabs.

Surf, Qutebrowser or Luakit.

My laptop only has 1GB and Pale Moon works quite well, I can even run Audacious and mpv alongside it without getting stuck in swap hell, now that I think about it though I should probably use some kind of command line music player.

Is Waterfox really that better than Ff Quantum in terms of memory usage?

lmao kys ramlet

This

Browsers aren't really the problem. It's the metric fuckton of client side JS that's the problem. Browsers try and be efficient with memory but it's an impossible task when you're running pajeet spaghetti code from 30 different domains all at once

I had 1GB till 2014 and I used firefox. Only twice did windows sperg out due to low memory.

i have 2GiB on my laptop here and it runs firefox fine. try using a light window manager if you're not already. otherwise try pale moon as others have suggested, it's surprisingly good at what it does.

Palemoon + a distro with a basic desktop environment like Xubuntu or Lubuntu.

I have 1.5GB RAM and I'm using Chrome 57
Firefox (even older versions) are very very slow while Chrome gives me a comfortable browsing experience.

Pretty sure its the best option for functionality/updateness/performance balance. Have used on my 2Gb XP box, manages essentially all video, although slow.

Too bad so many sites break when you disable JS

file browser

>For 350$ you're quadrupling your RAM
And for $100 you can get a better PC from ebay, which will be upgradeable and you won'T be screwed when the soldered-on storage fails because cheap TLC emmc shit.

Seriously, if he is poor, you fucking shouldn't try to make him fund your crappy linux distro. There are good causes for charity, radnom free software project (or actually, me too free software) is not one.

Just use whatever and have a big swap partition. If buying more RAM is a big problem for you, then you aren't doing anything particularly productive with your life anyway so you may as well wait.

notepad.exe

>buy a new computer
That's stupid, why not just buy more ram?
buy more ram

MoonchildPM: I'll have to do some research for it once it's clear where exactly the problem lies, but I'm pretty sure it's that damn vs2017 focused rewrite they did in NSS

>Never will have TLS 1.3

>2Gb RAM implies 256MB RAM
What are you the way that you are?

A friend of mine uses Chrome botnet on Windows 7 just fine with 2gb ram. Last I checked his ram usage was 80% with 5 tabs open(one was running YouTube) and 10+ software running in taskbar. If all you do is shit posting it's not much of an issue. Don't try multitasking though if you use latest chrome botnet or firecuck.

Firecuck is definitely out. That shit is insane at RAM usage.
This is just with 5 tabs open

Attached: Firefucks.png (923x106, 15K)

You know what he meant, nerd. Nobody says "I've got 16Gb of RAM lol" and means that they have 128GB of memory.

remote onto another device with more ram, then firefox

speaking of alternative web browsers
trying out qupzilla but it won't play videos from the nhk world site says "this video isn't encoded for your device", any idea qupzillafags?
obviously tried disabling adblock for the site

My shit tier laptop pissed itself when I used Firefox with gnome. KDE is lighter on ram than gnome so now I can use Firefox without slowing the system.

Nonsense, firefox needs less than chromium. Tests actually confirm that, so keep your anecdotal (wrong) opinions.
