What should I do with my raspberry pi now that the only thing I was using it for (pihole) has been moved to a proper server?

NAS
Host a personal server
I actually got my current job due to the latter

Get some wire jumpers, alligator, and pomona clips. Open up electronic devices. Start poking and prodding shit.

why would you use a "proper" server just for pihole? are you wasting 60 W to run a shitty x86 computer just so it looks more professional than your pi?

It's just one of many things on it. It's more of a fileserver than anything.

rewrite templeos and use it

/thread

my $80 router has a fileserver.
why would you need a dedicated server for that?

media server with osmc
emulator station with lakka or retropi
stream steam games to your tv with raspbian + moonlight
block ads with pihole

I have a rpi3 doing the first 3 with dual boot and rpi1 doing the last one

What is this alligator tool/device you speak of?

considering the only 2 practical uses for a pi are pihole and retrobox...

that's a tie clip

it's an alligator clip bro

Wtf how

sell it to normies.

throw away your main computer
use the pi as a main machine instead

or at least wire some leds to the GPIO pins in a matrix and spell out rude words

less botnet-ey chromecast with kodi/plex

Raspberry pis also destroy the SD card. So one day you will wake up without any DNS.

If the Pi had 8+ gig of memory this would be feasible.

24/7 torrent server + NAS

it depends on the port your router has and the samba version it is using. for example my router has usb2 and smb 1. it's faster using wifi with a pi in that case

Generate free money by running a monero node + mine monero on the quad core processor.

how ?

>stream steam games
Does that even work well with a pi?

Build a 萌え robot.

tor middle relay

Guys help please im no coding genius yet. I downloaded some dodgy software from some dodgy fuckin sites / Ended up with malware? Internet explorer opens multiple windows by its self fix?

notice he didn't say what job. prolly just some tier1 help desk shit

Lmao what

Make one of those cool mirrors w/ a HUD

You're $80 router also doesn't have a way to connect non-usb drives, ECC ram, or any kind of integrity checking.

hi Jow Forums, I have a 1st gen b+, which is quite slow to use with recent distros. Any recommendations for what projects this would be good for?

Build a smart mirror.

Garage door opener, Tor relay, remote detonator, public bathroom cam, SDR jammer, forest fire starter

Just search your heart bro, you'll find something

Eh, maybe if you configure it poorly.
I've been running boinc on my Orange Pis for months at a time over the past year and a half and while I've had one or two microSD cards die it hasn't been much of a problem.

Just image your SD card every once in a while for backup so you can restore in a few minutes.

pm'd you the fix bro ;)

make a meme glove

Managed to get that working with a RPi B+. 720p30 was no problem, 1080p30 was its maximum. Computer was accessed through WiFi, pi ethernet. Need to have nVidia shitty software to make it work though

>streaming steam games
what are you, some kind of imbecile? Develop your own raspberry pi only games

Anyone here have an experience batch-ordering rpis? Are they cheaper?

I have a modified HTPC/NAS which does that instead

For what purpose?

I don't use torrents (too many DMCAs) so I use usenet instead.

>remote detonator
wat

>stream steam games
Wouldn't you be better off with a $5 Steam Link?

pi3 works with 1080 @ 60 over ethernet flawlessly

>Wouldn't you be better off with a $5 Steam Link?
$50*

>NAS
>With a shitty USB 2.0 port that shares a controller with the Ethernet.
>Hosting a personal server when he's already got a proper server.

It's like you don't know how to read. Either make it into an emulation box for old games or use it to track aircraft.

They go on sale fairly frequently. At least twice in the last few months
