sorry guys, I was running gentoo for a few years between 2008 and 2012 but moved away from it to OpenBSD because I got tired of the meme. any help for my win 10 workstation problem would really be appreciated tho

This isn't a bug you dumb fuck. The file manager opens to 'This PC' which has its own icon/ Same shit happens if you open it to your documents.

I too think you should install gentoo but I also suggest to install KDE plasma on top. This issue you keep asking about is a non-issue if you don't use windows10 as your everyday OS.

I fixed it. in case anyone hates the default behavior too:
the solution is to create a shortcut to explorer.exe, add /n in the command line options and add this new shortcut to the taskbar.

go to taskbar settings and change "combine taskbar buttons" to "always hide labels"
