>POOLARIS
AMDPOORFAGSHIT

Can you point a driver for power9 novidiot?

I want one.

the Talos bores me to tears but hope it works well for him

>power9
Didn't Phoronix benchmark power9 against Epyc and it lost horribly?

JUST!

FUCK

It needs better optimization. Without even looking at the tests I could bet my dick that anything involving floating point POWER lost hard because the software's taking better advantage of SSE than it is of AltiVec.

MY

UP!

>Be IBM
>Makes progress towards the worlds first 7nm node
>Has to sell fabs and the worlds best 7nm node to glofo to stay alive
>Glofo decides that IBM's future power arch will be a failure that no one will buy
>Because of this AMD gets priority on 7nm from glofo
>Former IBM fabs will be producing 7nm AMD Epyc and Ryzen CPU's and not 7nm power cpus
>Power10 is going to be on the 10nm node
>yfw IBM gets cucked out of its own node by fucking AMD

>secure workstation

>vulnerable to both Meltdown and Spectre.

PowerPC on the desktop space needs to make a comeback

I love it when they claim that amd gpus are good only for that special case.
AMD has released fully functioning closed source drivers for Arm(check embedded), MIPS(embedded here too), AMD64 and x86.
Their fully functioning OSS driver, which is mostly better even that the closed source, runs on anything linux is ported to.

>be ibm
>pollute the world with intel servers
>get intel very powerful
>intel starts lobbying
>intel fucks you and your business
>have to sell nodes, sell laptop business to chinks, sell out in general
>fucking amd, cucked ibm.
no it didn't.... and AMD has nothing to do with glofo. in fact amd it tied by contract to absorb almost all of glofo's production, even if it's good or bad. AMD stayed on 28nm too long for this shitty contract.

Intel cucked their marketshare, amd cucked their production

>amd cucked their production
amd gets fines for not consuming glofo's wafers.
amd cannot do anything about this.
They are under contract.

Old pre zen bullshit, AMD fills glofo to capacity nowadays

How can IBM EVER recover?

At least it is not affected by RYZENFALL I guess

if you're buying a POWER system you'e going to use it for something you can't do on x86

...such as nothing, downtime and incompatibility.

no bs.
AMD is tied to glofo's nodes, even if they are good or bad.
that's the contract.
A few years ago everything was fine for amd because they had to stay on the old 28nm glofo node or the low power 14nm node.
Now that glofo's 7nm node is prolly the best out there, AMD is cucking others.
No that's not how it works.
AMD has nothing to do with IBM or anyone else.
Glofo bought the node from IBM, and now they are obligated to allocate most of it to AMD.
AMD sold over 100million APUs just for playstation and xbox, and that's pre-ryzen.
they could fill the capacity even for old 28nm foundries.

>Glofo bought the node from IBM, and now they are obligated to allocate most of it to AMD.
the way im seeing that is that IBM developed the best 7nm node and because of the glofo amd contract IBM doesnt even get to use it

don't worry, they'll end up using it on POWER10 a few years from now

ummmm power10 is going to be on 10nm not 7

power11 then

thats going to be post 2020, too little to late for 7nm

2020 is too late for 10nm too, but IBM is still doing it

..,like what?

Ibm patched that before release you idiot

'software '''patch''''
30% right from factory

give me examples

I've been thinking of getting one, but spectre is holding me back...

I thought meltdown was intel-only though?

The problem with meltdown/spectre """"patches"""" is in the name- they're a SOFTWARE (firmware) patch to a HARDWARE problem. And new variants of spectre could easily appear (and require new patches ofc, assuming IBM is allowed by the NSA lol)...

...meaning you'll need to keep getting patches (and sending angry emails to IBM if they're late) for your $20,000.00 SUP3R S3KR1T H4XX0R DUL0X0R M3M3STATION 360 just to keep facebook javascript from watching you through your webcam.

I r8 Talos 4/10 try harder

Attached: nR0ZmD3x_400x400.jpg (400x400, 22K)

To be fair, these benchmarks are comparing low-end Power9(albeit in dual-CPU configuration) to two of the best EPYCs and a high-end Xeon(also in dual-CPU configuration).

I can't fucking wait, 7000€ and 5 months later and I almost have my modern RISC machine.

Attached: 1494389780184.jpg (276x285, 27K)

meltdown is intel only
spectre is arm(samsung and qc confirmed) and intel.
Never actually happened on any other manufacturer.
Even the spectre paper speculates that it could be done on AMD, but without any evidence.

can i sign blockchain transactions offline with this thing?

Worth?

>>Has to sell fabs and the worlds best 7nm node to glofo to stay alive
Correct me if I'm wrong but IBM still does fab research even if they don't run any commercial fabs
