i think it's pretty good but it needs to be as fast as the old one

It's terrible you swines

I'm trying to see it but the page is loading the classic one, there's some way to change it?

Who cares?

It's terrible. No design should forsake simplicity over "modernization."

Is there a post here that isn't trash? The top post is literally just people upvoting "facts" that make them feel comfortable.

and that is why you should go back and stay there

nu-Jow Forums is at it again

Ah, the dumbing down of the Internet. Bigger buttons! More colors! Mobile-oriented! Let's design things to appeal to children who like shiny colors!

So... you want monochromatic palletes, with barely clickable buttons, and which don't work well on the phones? OK then...

You want to complain about dumbing down of the internet, there are far more worthy targets than the *design language*.

Plus, daily reminder Geocities was a thing. It's not like shitty web design was invented in 2007.

The design is "acceptable", but it's incredibly fucking slow.

>So... you want monochromatic palletes, with barely clickable buttons, and which don't work well on the phones?
I'm 100% fine with all of that when it comes to a site like Reddit, which is fundamentally text content oriented with links to images. Not that I hate colors or anything like that, but colorful stuff just like uncolorful stuff needs to be well designed to appeal to my taste, and I think it's easier to fuck up a colorful design than it is to fuck up an uncolorful design.
>Plus, daily reminder Geocities was a thing. It's not like shitty web design was invented in 2007.
Yeah, but Geocities sites were generally shitty because it was free hosting used by amateurs. Doesn't really make sense to compare it to a hugely popular company like Reddit.

Cont. Oh yeah, I should also mention that small buttons and desktop-oriented design usually don't bother me when browsing on a phone, as long as text is free to wrap. I'm highly accustomed to just zooming when necessary. Mobile-oriented design often makes me feel like the designer thinks I'm a 12 year old.

Reddit was never fast, specially on mobile. They make it slow on purpose so you're forced to use their AIDS-ridden app.

what is reddit even doing

Daily reminder that reddit is open source and 4chom isn't

>reddit is open source
not anymore

Jow Forumsamd wants you back

>laggy scrolling where it used to be smooth because JS bullshit
>infinite scroll, which requires JS, is the only way to view past page one
>JS also needed to collapse the massive bar on the left side of the screen, the only other option is to zoom out significantly
>no dedicated permalink button for linking to posts, is now down by clicking on the time next to the post because that totally makes sense
>now displays large images that can be 200KB or possibly larger each where 140x140 pixel thumbnails used to be, consuming over 50x more bandwidth
>4.5 MB animated GIFs in place of thumbnails to really suck up bandwidth
>on boards where people post a lot of GIFs, this means that pages can exceed 100 MB in size, consuming more bandwidth than videos
>ads now mixed in with articles randomly, not different colors/in boxes/in fixed locations to immediately differentiate them as ads
>all the small forums and imageboards that reddit gobbled up still aren't coming back and this shit is what we're stuck with
And there's probably more issues that people who spend more time on Reddit could point out as well. When will this shit end?

Attached: 1523476496062.jpg (599x1243, 252K)

Ah, thats very nice OP. You should go back to that and continue to enjoy it, since you like it so much. Don't worry about us, we won't miss you.

new.reddit.com

daily reminder that it's not anymore

Sounds like some faggot mod decided to cash out on its userbase by making them watch ads on their own forum

this

everyone in this thread that browse Reddit, regularly, need to go back.

You can use the desktop version with mobile browsers.

I unironically think it's a good redesign.

...too bad the community still stays shit.

It looks like some garbage mobile site, it looks like shit now

>leddit
aside, it's just another disgusting nu-website. The old design was actually good.

I stopped going to Reddit 4 years ago. But I rejoined recently, due to Jow Forums going down so often.

>search google for issues with i3
>click on reddit link of someone with same issue
>now reddit doesn't load for me without JS & Third party JS enabled
Motherfucking faggots, reddit was always full of them, but at least the website was technically fine. Hopefully this at least pulls reddit shit off the front page of every fucking google search.
Not only is it bloated as fuck, it is so inefficient space-wise, you get like 4x less content on-screen at any given time.

Found a couple more issues:
>tab titles are now just "reddit: the front page of the internet" rather than anything telling you what the fuck thread it is unless you have scripts enabled
>no more parent post button to jump to the post that's being replied to
>collapse post button is no longer on the post and is now the line that leads down from the post to indicate which posts are replies to that post, hopefully you don't fuck up and accidentally click it
They should really shoot whoever made these changes.

>plebbit
GTFO

It's called evolution, get with the times. Faggot.

What the shit, just found that board. They closed for a week with the last round of bans.

I fail to see how this design is "dumbing down" reddit. Not only it improves the website usability, in fact it displays MORE information on the frontpage than what the old design did.

If you choose one of the three display options, a Google Reader-like headline menu appears showing hundreds of posts.

They're copying Apple, as everyone else does.

why are there so many redditors on g

Attached: 1523916634992.png (657x527, 44K)

Does it have a dark mode?

Use leddit is fun, much better than the original app.

Or Sync Pro...

>inb4 "lul leddit is for low-t cucks"
just went to go peek at it and the sidebar needs work, CSS of some subreddits will be ruined if this goes through, and there's still advertisement boxes despite using ublock+hosts

the best they could do is have this design as an opt-in after beta testing is over, don't force it on everybody like the profile pages

>Jow Forums4chan
holy shit you're pathetic

reddit is for retards and the reddit mentality and normiefication of Jow Forums is apparent because of you retards flooding the site.
fuck off to your website if you care so much about it

>implying you own this place
Kys

>Wah js is evil
No one cares that you and 10 other autistic fucks block js

This place would be better without your kind

>The old design was actually good
imagine believing this

>hurr you can only use one site, you have to pick a side
Fuck off. Anyone who isn't a complete retard uses multiple sites and that's how it's been since before Jow Forums existed. Since you retards likely haven't noticed, Reddit has pretty much killed smaller forums, and I'm not going to attempt to get in depth discussion of a more niche topic by spamming yet another general thread here.

>>>/reddit/

Needs moar javashit

Killing off forums is a bad thing
Making discussion just a popularity contest is a bad thing
A voting system is a bad thing
We aren’t very good but at least people can say whatever they want and their replies are the same weight as everyone else.

HOW CAN YOU POSSIBLY STAND TO USE REDDIT

all js is malware.
old reddit: content+ads
new reddit: content+malware+ads

>We aren’t very good but at least people can say whatever they want and their replies are the same weight as everyone else.
That's nice but, if you haven't noticed, there isn't enough room here to drag all the decent discussion from elsewhere along with the knowledgeable people who participate in those discussions. Quit insisting on having everything on one website, that's the exact reason why Reddit is the cancer it is today.

Because occasionally there's no where else that has decent information and active discussion on a topic. The choice isn't whether or not to use Reddit, it's whether to have something in a less than optimal form or to not have it at all.

>discussing
>anything
>on reddit

Serious genuine question:
Why would you use reddit? Any good reasons?
Literally the only thing reddit has of value is that it has some niche and specific subreddit that is useful to you or it has good resources, but apart from that I can't think of any other reason to use reddit

>some niche and specific subreddits

This is exactly why it's used. Too many great resources for learning and it's free news for the city I live in.

It's absolute dog shit for entertainment though

You can put makeup on a dogs anus but it's still a shithole.

You must go back then

desu the older design was much better
i cant remember the last time i used it, but im sure it's that design when it doesn't look like a mobile clone
>inb4 reddit

im so baka i forgot the filter

Are you trying to stay 'hip' by calling reddit leddit? I mean what's the point if you want to stay there, just stay there

If you like it so much you should go back

i don't know why these sites are so hellbent on pushing their user base away

and my porn aggregator sources from reddit so ... .i don't need to use it anymore

The absolute state of this shithole.

Kek, I'm better asking quantum physics questions on /b/ than leddit, let alone /sci/. You have to go back.

Looks like they've just copied material design from google

Wouldn't reddit push leftist news and censor """""fake news"""""?

did they also improve censorship and shadow banning too?
fucking shithead.... KYS for visiting that shithole and for having an account there. just fuck off and die.

>cats and porn
Is it good for at least one of those two things?

you can at least subscribe to NOT complete garbage

go back there

The CSS for most subreddit is so bad I don't even care

>multis don't work properly
>buggy without logging in
>loads slowly
>trash latency for everything
>left bar floating is buggy
>no contrast meme
>slow transition when resizing

It went to trash since they started to track every outgoing link and wrapped every media element into 3 layers of analytic gateway JS.

oh also singlepage opening of posts, holy shit what they were smoking?

>what is reddit even doing
Trying to become FB

this is bait right

reddit was timeless because they barely cared about web design

now they just want to pander to normalfags fleeing from the fb empire even more

it's okay but I couldn't care less to be honest

imagine actually spending all your time treating Jow Forums and reddit as some 'tribes' you have to fight for
imagine actually sperging out when someone uses a site different than you

Imagine going to Jow Forums to discuss Reddit.

I have yet to see this design, I see people everywhere shitting on it but I can't find a (working) way to force active it.

reading traditional forums after reddit's invention feels like a huge waste of time. I'm always looking for an informative post
>thanks!
>wow ill try this out!
