I miss high end single slot cards.

8800gt wasn't high-end, you poorfag
and it doesn't even look good

I disagree op. Nothing is quite like a triple slot beast at keeping temps down. Pic related.

You can disagree with OP, but you'd be wrong.

8800GT was high end. It wasn't as good as the 8800GTS but it was pretty close and kept a single slot.
Pretty sure it was the best single slot card of the time by a fair margin and nipped at the heels of dual slot cards.

Best looking board rolling through.

I had one, it was massive long but single slot and ran everything with ease. A lot of them had problems with display artifacts though. Heat/fan issue I think. Mine eventually died cause of it.

Nvidia Tesla G92s were good but the heat did kill a lot of them, especially the mobile 8600M GT GPUs that were in thin Macbook Pros from 2007-2008

Looks neat. Why there aren't any single slot 1060s and 1050s is beyond me, the TDP isn't THAT high. The quadros are so damn expensive, not worth it but a very pretty card. My personal favorite was the Fury Nano, so cute. I heard folks could mod in a mice noctia 90mm fan and get good results

I think that's handsome, but my favorite board looks wise is the x99m WS from Asus. I have one just sitting idly, no CPU, and can't justify buying one now that ryzen basically made all x99 chips obsolete or poor prices performance, even 400 dollar 5960s

The intel enthusiast board are a lot better looking (and performing) than 990FX, but the UD3 is really special to me because it had great VRM and wasn't a black and red board like a lot of them were.

>by a fair margin
there were single-slot 9600GTs that were a lot cheaper and pretty close performance-wise

bery bery aestetik mai fren for a 6 yo.

Yeah, mine died too even after I put an aftermarket on it.

The 9600GT was basically the same card.

mobos can't really be aesthetic

Fuck yeah they can, it's just so overdone wity the whole "look at me i'm a gaming pc!" bullcrap rgb that it's annoying.

How can you miss something that still exists?

Attached: 1070KATANAweb_G_01.png (1130x780, 235K)

I know its blue but its still charismatic

Attached: GA-MA790XT-UD4P.jpg (500x403, 105K)

The 2010 era with the blue X58 UD3/UD5 boards was awesome, AMD was still competitive at the time too.

It exists, but is extremely rare.

And for good reason.

I can never get over all of the stupid buzzword shit they put on the PCB and components.

Mac sucks blah blah. But this thing should be mentioned

That is a cool modular design, The mac mini G4 and later core 2 duo was a superior machine, but it's stupid as hell prying the pre 2010 mac minis open to get at stuff.

8800GT is high end you fag. The mid ranges are the ones X6XX and the X8XX is the high ends, the difference is the price back then was cheaper even after currency deflation/inflation accounted for.

T.8600GT and 9800GTX owner

Is that real?

It's what the trash can Mac pro should have been.

>4000 series
a better time, i want to go back

I'm still using this motherboard for my main computer

I wish you could actually mod one to make it useful. But that goes for any mac I guess..

I reckon recent reference amdizzle radeon are pretty aesthetic but these were pretty nice. I hope someday someone would put one of these coolers onto a Fury or something, and undervolt it to hell so whether it was effective wouldn't matter.

Had this back in the day was awesome.

It's shopped, sadly.

I miss my x1800 XT

Founder's Edition is kino

I always found it weird how my board claims to be Ultra Durable 4 on the box yet it's a 990FX-UD3, and looks exactly the same as the other revisions.

A huge ammount of 8000 series had faulty BGAs.

underage b&

What fucking display port is that.

The the ye olde external Xfire connector.

Not even him but I thought that shit was a SCSI.

>those memory chips are better cooled than those in some modern day gpus

Attached: 1515026121758.jpg (821x869, 88K)

I really do question the longevity of modern graphics cards, we're already seeing 10 year old video cards dying because the BGA process was shitty, the tdp was high, and the cooling was inadequate.

main purpose of today's GPUs, RAMs and motherboards is to resemble retarded alien spacecraft :^)

I like my Hyper T4 but those are some nice looking coolers.

I have one of the originals with fan grills different and logo in more keno place.

very nice pc with no HDD and just SSD in it it weighs basically nothing even fully loaded up.

and you don't need internal fans because body is entirely aluminum and lets the heat out.

Why aren't gpu manufacturers making high end custom blower style cards and always going for the 2-3 side fan design? Modern cases don't have side intakes now, it's all front intake and tempered glass so wouldn't it be better to have the gpu fan blow in line with the intakes? You wouldn't be messing up the airflow of the CPU cooler either with hot air blowing in from the GPU.

Had this one for a long time before buying my new Ryzen system.

your posts have a severe negative effect on the overall quality of this board

I miss high end five slot cards.

Attached: Peter21.png (600x600, 327K)

Just kidding, but the cooler does look fantastic by itself with those slung pipes.

This is your new computer. Go say hi to her!

Those black AMD very minimal looking cards are probably as minimal/aesthetic as it gets with GPU designs, most blower cards have something like that going though, nvidia ruined it for them though.

Anyway, downside for one of the most aesthetic cards are heat and whatever crap people complain about in AMD, which I assume is for the most part valid.

fitting something like this could be problematic in most cases
