The one that costs $0

But both are free

sublime
>inb4 muh vscode/sublime is so S O I

>Sublime Text may be downloaded and evaluated for free, however a license must be purchased for continued use.

The all-consuming fire of vim in the background.

The wise man said just walk this way
To the dawn of the light
The wind will blow into your face
As the years pass you by
Hear this voice from deep inside
It's the call of your heart
Close your eyes and your will find
The passage out of the dark

V-I-M
Will you send me an angel
V-I-M
In the land of the morning star

The wise man said just find your place
In the eye of the storm
Seek the roses along the way
Just beware of the thorns

V-I-M
Will you send me an angel
V-I-M
In the land of the morning star

The wise man said just raise your hand
And reach out for the spell
Find the door to the promised land
Just believe in yourself
Hear this voice from deep inside
It's the call of your heart
Close your eyes and your will find
The way out of the dark

V-I-M
Will you send me an angel
V-I-M
In the land of the morning star
V-I-M
Will you send me an angel
V-I-M
In the land of the morning star

One has Microsoft malware, the other has CIA/NSA malware. Neither are good.

What other IDE would you use then?

I use vscode only because sublime keeps insisting that I pay for it with its annoying popup. If it didn't do that I would switch to sublime.

>the other has CIA/NSA malware
Source: Your ass

>The CIA's editor of choice

Emacs

Am I justified in use Sublime if someone else literally paid the licence for me?

geany

Vscode has better plugins. Being able to run powershell in it, pull in my powershell profile. Then things like scriptrunner, python etc I just love in vscode.

I just modified the binary to remove licence checking

obvious answer

So just use a cracked universal license key, user.

VSCode has better extension support, but dang if Sublime Text performs better.

I need an editor with good performance on my Linux laptop. i feel like VSCode and other Electron alternatives are too heavy, but i love VSCode extensions. What's a good option for a brainlet like me who's too dumb to learn Vim? Is IntelliJ more lightweight on Linux than on Windoze?

Notepad++.

vscode

Vim

nano

How can I stop them from revoking it?

VSC is free and open source software you moron.

VSCode is pretty good I have to say.

VSCode is great.
There is a lot of plugin to install from the store.
Used to use sublime a lot, now it feels outdated.

VSC is better. Better plugins, similar editing hotkeys, doesn't nag to purchase after every 5th save.

It doesn't force you to upgrade. A dialog pops up every X amount of starts. You click OK and move on you with your life

PLANTED BY TRUMP'S SO CALLED DEEP STATE WHOMST ARE ALL WORKING FOR DOING HID BIDDING wake up

The one that doesn't use the Electron shit.

70 bucks isnt free faggot
VSC

So what you autistic retard? It's still a botnet. It gathers data and has telemetry. It literally says so on the site and in the privacy policy.

Compile it yourself and turn off all settings that send in data.

>corrupts your projects
>shits on your machine

vim, but unironically
The only people that disagree are either Emacs faggots that use evil mode anyways, or nufags that cant into regexp

Make sure you disable telemetry on vscode

How many times do I gotta post this?

Nano.
10/10, just lets you write the code.

atom

VSCode.

W8 so they're collecting my data regardless?

>comparing an IDE to a text editor

spotted the retard

>put Twitter key
>they revoke it
>it doesn't matter because I never close the editor anyways and it only becomes nagware again after a restart

Me always wins

Padamjit, my son...

any application that you do not compile yourself potentially harvests your data.

tell me user: do you not use any software unless you've inspected the codebase and compiled it yourself? no? congrats you probably have botnet installed. stop being retarded.

>text editor

nigga that's what i'm saying, this guy is talking about eclipse in a thread about VSC and Sublime Text

you can use a cia key from wikileaks for sublime 1 at least.

Don't listen to this guy user, VIM is a meme.
Use all 3 major IDE's like VSCode, Atom and Sublime. See if each use case makes one better than the other for you. Then settle on one. As your needs develop you might want added functionality, thats when you venture out into boutique ones like ninja IDE, Light table, VIM, Emacs, whatever the fuck.

In all honesty, all this shit doesn't matter. Spend that time coding instead. Look at he great Jeff Dean he uses everything stock standard on a single screen PC that hasn't been upgraded since the 90's. He has millions of dollars and doesn't care for the latest water cooled 16 core CPU's and rainbow coloured RAM.

>Used to use sublime a lot, now it feels outdated.
Wait you're talking about Sublime 3?

>github.com/Microsoft/vscode/issues/16131
They mentioned the telemetry data isn't sent but there's still checks through the auto updater and for the extensions. They give instructions to disable those as well.

You can't compile Sublime Text from source. It's proprietary software.

VS Code on the other hand is licensed under the MIT license and the code is available on GitHub.

>VIM is a meme.
Don't listen to this guy.

I bet you bought WinRar too

VIM is very high-maintenance, almost too high-maintenance for my tastes. I like to be up and ready within five minutes of installing a text editor. Getting started with VIM is like learning an entirely new spoken language with all of the manual configuration with .vimrc, the different commands, the plugins and stuff. It's one of those things where you have to keep using it almost everyday or you'll have to relearn it all over again.
