Still says preview release so no, but it might be mature enough for daily use.
Anthony Thompson
I prefer my torrents stalled
Carter Bell
qStalledmeme is bad
Brandon James
no
Noah Hughes
I'm getting an error on the self-update.
Gabriel Mitchell
should I switch from deluge to this?
Jordan James
I'm fine with qbittorrent, a client that actually has features
Samuel Ramirez
How are you supposed to instantly download a ~10GiB move? I don't see your the point of your logic.
Nolan Gutierrez
self update is a meme
Ryan Cox
>rss >worthy feature
Eli Peterson
>implying I meant instant.
Connor Price
install deluge
Tyler Davis
>the absolute state of tripfags
Carson Nguyen
>graph >search with plugins
Ayden Howard
>needing a graph >needing a search plugin >using public trackers at all
Easton Powell
It actually saved me during the Nyaapocalypse. Was panic torrenting 10s of animes and Qbittorrent was showing me the stalled meme despite being a fresh install. I grabbed a Windows build and it just worked desu
>Cant even change file names of torrents. What is this shit?
Owen Sanchez
Why the fuck are you downloading a 10 gigabyte movie?
Alexander Gomez
Uses less ram at least.
Angel Miller
because I'm not a drivelet like you
Jayden Reed
this, most remuxes are bigger than that
Andrew Miller
with qbittorrent you can do this
Joshua Cox
According to my peer list Xunlei numba won.
Jacob Torres
But I already use Deluge, the superior BitTorrent client.
Dylan Peterson
where my transmission-qt niggas at
Nathan Reyes
>idk what remux is obviously. since they aren't re-encoded they're raw from the bluray which they max out.. being 50gb
Jack Reyes
>pre-allocated space for parts that I wasn't downloading >Qbittorrent doesn't do that unless I ask it to. that doesn't make sense. bit torrent pieces may overlap file boundaries, so it's very rare that you can only get one file.
Nicholas Wood
I'll stick with Vuze thanks
Benjamin Jones
the website was breached once and had tainted downloads for Mac for two days. but they didn't have the private key to make a tainted auto-update. too bad auto-updater is broken since 2.92.
protocol: libtransmission is probably bit torrent protocol anno 2008: missing essential BEP-6 libutp integration is an ugly hack (let's find random values where the speed is somewhat constant) that can't even be updated to latest libutp despite security holes.
libtorrent-rasterbar is in theory so much better. supports way more BEPs and dev was once hired by BitTorrent Inc, so did bit-torrent stuff full-time and actually wrote some BEPs. but all library consumers have some weird bugs, especially qbittorrent.
gui: transmission is native on Mac but minimal qbittorent is Qt5, so native on KDE Plasma and not that minimal with lots of settings (tho not all libtorrent-rasterbar ones)
development: transmission is pretty dead and can hardly be arsed to even update for security holes (one of the worst open-source projects in that regard according to google's project zero) qbittorrent looks pretty unprofessional (can't even triage bugs) but active. libtorrent-rasterbar does okay, mostly bug-fixing.
Mason Reed
Vuze has no native support for mainline-DHT but their own incompatible DHT that's worse design and has way less peers.
Dylan Ross
So what is good/best?
Brayden Hall
It still has a serious vulnerability that let anyone take control remotely relatively easily. That wasn't fixed for over 3 months after they were informed.
Alexander Peterson
qbittorrent has a toggle for pre-allocation, and stores extra chunks in a temporary file that is deleted when the torrent is removed
Eli Peterson
rtorent vs transmission?
Ryan Collins
None of them are good, some are just less bad.
Adrian Martinez
bullshit. was fixed in 2.93 and only ever in transmission-daemon when using default settings.
I just realized this probably explains an issue I had with qbittorrent re-checking and re-downloading certain files
Asher Mitchell
Sure they took a long time to do anything, after the bug became public an update was released a week later. It's bad but not what I'd call "pretty dead".
Easton Perry
>Using ancient software to allow random people direct IP access to your network ishiggydiggy
If I upgrade does it keep my previous torrents in the client? I move all my .tor files to the trash and want to make sure I don't have to manually add all the shit I'm supposed to seed.
Parker Martin
What did he mean by this?
Easton Ross
You can get RSS and every other qBT feature with the exception of sequential downloading with a few other programs on Transmission That's awful for any FOSS project
so you are now supposed to download it from their website which in the past was hacked and handed out malware.
how anyone can think that this is not a total dumpster fire is beyond me.
Jayden Wright
>No socks5 proxy support
Nice, how utterly useless.
Luke Wright
>10GB >taking longer than 30 minutes to download Go take a walk or something, then watch your movie. Make some food. Order a pizza and read.
Brandon Rivera
a GiB is more than a GB. I presume people are shilling qb as "smaller" using these metrics.
Levi Moore
fag you dont know shit thats because it has sequential download also there is a patch for sequential download you can use for transmission
Colton Campbell
Yes the team is absolutely incompetent, doesn't change that Transmission is a great client. Though, none of these issues even mattered to me since I install from the distro repos.
qbittorrent is better under linux. just my personal opinion.
John Roberts
Deluge is better
Joshua Cook
no it isn't
Gavin Morales
2.2.1 is not affected, sorry to ruin your FUD. 2.2.1 will remain as the single best GUI torrent client for decades to come.
William King
yes good now notify me when they fix Qt
Andrew Young
I meant about the free part. Free what?
Carter Rodriguez
I completely missed that. No idea. Perhaps it's what the program says is the amount of free space on disk? Dunno.
Carson Adams
>Perhaps it's what the program says is the amount of free space on disk I presumed the same, but I rejected the notion because it's a retarded argument to make. Maybe he's just stupid.
Kevin Perry
It's never ok to display sizes as GB. Competely ruins the whole program.
