Gorilla Glass Screen (and screen protector)

And... yeah. That's pretty much it. Honestly nothing really unreasonable. I just want a decent little x86 based tablet that I can run any OS i damn well please that can connect to a little docking station that adds more USB ports and video out so it's a desktop at my desk, a laptop on the road, tablet in bed, etc..

Bluetooth 5.0 is pretty awesome stuff, I think. Huge bandwidth and maximum range bump. Though only a tiny handful of devices support it yet.

Do both. Glass looks nicer and is less prone to warping. Additionally the switch keeps the glass and screen seperated and not fused.

I ultimately chose the switch as a base design because of its serviceability and os modularity

so, a surface in a thick aluminum case with a fat battery pack and generic usb3 dock with ports and ethernet integrated inside. someone could easily make this, and it would be easily made compatible with surface pro 3 4 2017 and probably the next as they have almost identical casings for all generations after 2
