WE FLUENT IN EVERY LANGUAGE NOW
Landon Gomez
Why? I thought Microsoft was doing away with win32? Or is this like a new theme for already existing programs?
Luis Lopez
they still support vb
its going to be a long ass time before they actually do away with win32 so this is a stopgap
Owen Turner
>Microsoft
>design
Juan Clark
ripping off macos and material design at the same time, bravo
Angel Wood
>fluent
FLOOOOOEEEENSSS
Oliver Harris
Is there even one application out there in fluent design?
Lincoln Phillips
>SOON
What's MS-time soon? 4 years?
Dominic Martinez
Zune,Metro design older that Material design or flat design.
Aiden Cox
Systems developer here for a fortune 500. Just finished my 500MB hello world program. Its the future, man!
David Bell
zune could have turned modern gui design on its head and revolutionized everything, but for some fucking reason they decided to trash it in favor of the clusterfuck metro tile system
Liam White
That's what Hulu looks like on the ps4
John Campbell
I work for a giant enterprise, and the accuracy of this statement is painful.
Gotta use custom-written java clients, and they only work with some specific JRE from 8 years ago. Those clients connect to a backend cluster of 2k3 machines that has been up for 11 years.
Oh, it's too expensive to replace it? I'm sure it's not cheap to employ multiple people basically just to keep the glue-and-string system running.
Jaxon Smith
> With UWP XAML Islands, you can access the more capable, flexible, powerful XAML controls regardless which UI stack you use—whether it’s Windows Forms, WPF, or native Win32.
topkek, this means even more inconsistent garbage
New, additional context menu style coming soon guys
Luis White
that's good, fluent has better window design than what macos has
Bentley Reed
I honestly think had microsoft made the zune HD into phone with that design, it would have turned major heads away from apple.
Evan Hughes
The big splash of the iPhone caused a major "who moved my cheese" moment at Microsoft.
The company was way too confident that desktop/laptop sales+licensing was going to be king forever.
While businesses still fork over money for windows and office, more and more people today are living life without a home PC.
Hudson King
not to mention the current education market is dominated by apple and google
an entire generation is going to grow up accustomed to ipads and chromebooks instead of windows desktops
Josiah Rogers
I worked at a school district for a couple of years, and those chromebooks are awesome for grade/middle school use.
At that point, kids are basically only using the computers for web browsing, writing papers, and making presentations. The chromebooks do all of that just fine, and when the little shits end up destroying them, it's a $200 chromebook and not a $600 laptop. They also require less TLC than full windows boxes.
Teachers have desktops, and the high school is all full fledged PCs because there's all kinds of different software being run.
Jason Flores
thanks ballmer
no it doesn't at all
it literally just means devs can now actually keep up with standards
Robert Mitchell
>turn alpha on
>add a blur filter
>takes a team of 30 pajeets more than a year to accomplish this
>aero already had this feature
>update windows store meme apps so they are finally consistent, should have been like this day 1 but okay
>my windows image doesn't even have the windows store
>yfw pajeets can't into design patterns
>yfw there will probably still be 3+ completely different ui styles littered throughout the os, from 3+ completely different generations of windows
>yfw this will probably be a +10GB install with none of the bloat or previous code removed
>yfw it will almost certainly be broken on day one and wont be remotely stable until it's out on enterprise
meh
James Peterson
>woah!
>the botnet is evolving!!
>omg coool!!!!
Landon Powell
Windows 10 is a fucking disaster. Holy fuck i hate it. Wish my customers had LTSB so I didn't have to fix shit every time M$ fucks you in the ass with the latest unfinished build on the beta state OS they call Windows 10. I miss Windows 7 days, because I had much less shit to fix and shit was stable.
Evan White
I can't find any screenshots but Internet Explorer on Mac OS 8 (1997) had translucent context menus that predate any frosted glass design I've seen on an OS. it was properly gaussian blurred and everything.
Matthew Myers
I associate all of these things with each other, except the fruit loops. You should have used eurocuck/cuckdyes fruit loops.
Nolan Phillips
never forget your meds
Jason Williams
never forget to poo in the loo
Thomas Cook
The Switch, R&M, Fruit Loops, and weed on their own are fine. Why is it, though, that when you combine them you end up getting some sort of insufferable reddit basedboy?
Onions milk and interracial fetish porn are always awful, though.
Gabriel Hughes
is that the gun guy from tremors?
Carter Evans
>microshit
>fluent design
What? Fucking fix edge first, pajeets
Carson Foster
Not really. There are entire labs furnished with windows desktops in unis.
Pic related.
Brandon Wright
Nah, that blur effect is made of like 7 different layers that needed to be fast enough to not show any delay.
This wasn't made by pajeets, they represent less in the microsoft workforce than Apple pajeets. Check their labour stats.
Benjamin Gutierrez
Terrible nutrition. Nothing but sugar and carbs.
Oliver Cooper
The opposite of s o y, which is a complete protein source and totally based.
Isaac Sanders
Microsoft:
>Praise Saturn!
Ian Brooks
DUDE
CUBES
LMAO
Samuel Cruz
Just pour your onions milk (estrogen, thyroid inhibitors) onto your fruit loops (refined sugar, simple carbs).
You'll become feminine and squishy... perfect time to get a Switch!
Jacob Brown
Nice meme, onions doesnt contain estrogen, it contains "phytoestrogens" for which there is less evidence of hormonal activity in us than the pesticides we spray our farms with. If you don't live a plastic-free life eating only organic biodynamic food, you are consuming more estrogen-mimicing compounds than the bigger s o y g u z z l e r around, btfo basedfag.
Angel Wright
scientificamerican.com
best to eat only organic non-GMO basedbeans user
Juan Ross
>non-GMO
So Meriturds are pretty much fucked.
All their food is based on GMOs, I've heard.
Carter Moore
lol
stay obsessed :^)
Lucas Rivera
>tfw when you want to call someone a faggot but "faggot" is too general of an insult on Jow Forums so you have to build this whole mythology around popular things that reddit might like and some stereotypical hippie bullshit just so you can use some word the bulk of this website hates when a simple "faggot" would do
Joshua Wright
>MUH MATERIAL DESIGN
KILL ME NOW!!!!
Jordan Gray
Windows 10 is the only OS I've ever used where uninstalling drivers makes it work better.
Alexander Bennett
What the fuck is Fluent Design
Jacob Cook
Yes, this.
Nathan Davis
there is absolutely nothing wrong with buzz cuts.
Joseph Powell
>without a home PC
boggles my mind how so many people can get through life without doing any kind of document work
Gavin Morgan
just microsoft stealing frosted glass from apple
Joseph Ortiz
sounds like we're in for more inconsistent fly-by-night design that will ultimately hurt an already fatally beaten usability landscape
Jonathan Adams
why couldn't they steal ethereal candy buttons instead? I mean better than they did with XP, those were just comical
Brody Hughes
PC sales have flatlined in the last few years, but they havent really declined much. I think these people are mostly still using PCs in their office/school/whatever but simply don't need them at home anymore. When we talk about phones killing PCs its easy to forget that they havent 'stolen' much market-share, mostly they are capturing new market-share.
Owen Perez
Any document work they do will largely be at school/work, in both places they are given a computer they don't care about.
Thomas Robinson
I honestly can't think of any document work you would need to do on a computer. I haven't had a printer for years and I've managed just fine.
Bills can be set up for payment through the phone, and for things like insurance or whatever, they often send you the pages.
The only time I've had to print out and mail in papers is for things like student aid, and a student has access to a computer at school.
Jason Cox
Probably going to be a fair improvement over the current uninspired flatshit. They'll never make something as aesthetic as Vista or 7 though.
Ian Nguyen
So basically a way to make sets relevant since it means we can use chrome or firefox when using it if they implement it.
Evan Jenkins
vista and 7 aged like absolute shit
Chase Gonzalez
sets would be relevant regardless
the only difference this brings is that chrome and firefox can now look more in line with the rest of the system
Isaiah Gray
When all you do is use faceberg, snapchat, tinder, etc, you don't really need a computer proper. Your entire universe can be serviced by an ipad. It's only a matter of time until you can only do what you need in your basic life using some app from some walled garden.
I mean, when was the last time you used DOS for anything other than playing an old game? Good luck loading your bank's website in Arachne.
Caleb Nguyen
Calculator
Christian Ramirez
It's weird how people complain about windows 10's 1px color border but won't stop praising aero and it's chunky ass fucking glass border.
Bentley Adams
The themes I mean. They don't translate well to a 5" phone screen but they aren't used that way. Similarly, flat phone UIs with everything spaced out so bubba fat fingers can tap them don't translate well to a 30" desktop monitor.
Ethan Walker
And it's beautiful!
Wyatt Martinez
Calculator is fluent design done right. But it's just a fucking calculator.
Tyler Powell
I never griped about that 1px border being there, apart from saying it's too thin. I also don't like how it's actually the same width as Aero's except most of it is transparent - as becomes blatantly obvious when you sleep and resume, only to find your windows that were up against the edge now have an ugly gap around them.
Nathaniel King
Most of the built in apps to varying degrees.
Latest built in app incoming.
Then there are apps like newsflow and grover.
Jaxson Lewis
>I never griped about that 1px border being there
Search 1px in any windows forum and you'll see plenty of people will not stop complaining about it. Kinda funny.
Noah Cook
I don't care. Give me a normal border, not this gimmicky shit that looks like you can click through but can't. For flatshit done right, 8.1 is the way to go. For borderless, MacOS since they actually have no border, even a shitty clear one.
Ryder Phillips
Cool.
Ethan Ramirez
I imagine that 1px border will be transparent in the future.
Asher Morgan
Fuck that, either make it opaque (and keep it that way when the window is unfocused) or make it gone. Invisible but still affecting layout just makes the whole thing looks like a crappy beta.
Kayden Lewis
Your opinion is worth less than shit tho
Austin Bailey
looks like chrome os and mac os fucked
Jordan Cooper
>not to mention the current education market is dominated by apple and google
urg no
Jace Torres
>cannot even make a half a decade design right
>cannot even color it properly.
jesus.
Eli Gray
Brilliant, now we can have three competing designs, thanks Microsoft!
Carson Cooper
and you've been on Jow Forums shitposting for how many years?
maybe it's time you stop attempting to be le critic man and fix your own problems :3
Brayden Campbell
Oh no, an entire generation is going to grow up learning how to Crouton their chromebooks and use Linux applications
Mason Williams
kek, they wish
they just announced that they were opening up the full filesystem to UWP, thus defeating one of the main purposes for UWP
Jack Butler
Hahahahaha what a fucking waste of money. I feel sorry for the poor IT team who had to deploy these.
Ryder Fisher
i suppose that depends where you live. in europe education market is dominated by PCs (microsoft).
Jack Smith
burt
Mason Wood
I've seen it on a friends computer. Is that really it? Microsoft is anouncing this design since about a year, and it looks like shit compared to Aero glass.
All the transparency effects disappear when the window falls to the background, and maximizing it leads to a graphical sperg out. The only nice thing I recognized was the "button press" effect.
