You have 10 seconds to explain why you aren't using Windows Server 2012 R2 as your desktop
>server tier performance >no bloatware >no botnet (no cortana) >desktop is default interface >gaming ability exactly the same as other Windows distros >boots way faster than any other windows >stability that makes Linux users question their faith >can add IIS and have a decent web server with a couple of mouse clicks >can add Active Directory or convert to a DNS or DHCP server for fun
Except for AD service you pretty much described Win10 LTSB
Also > server tier performance
Gavin Allen
Stop bring retarded. “Server tier performance” focus on I/O operations.
Kevin Smith
Windows 10 has the new security features.
Xavier Cooper
> >windows server tier performance FTFY. > DNS or DHCP server for fun desu DHCP server in Windows is the most weird, disgusting and unneeded part. Did you know you need a CAL license for every DHCP client?
Wyatt Hall
Still fucks HDD as hell, why? Arch rarely does so, gentoo doesn't use HDD until I play FLAC or video.
William Barnes
>no bloatware lies
Luis Bailey
>Did you know you need a CAL license for every DHCP client? hahaha what
> DHCP > static routing Static leases, you mean. DHCP can handle this too.
Benjamin Reyes
Bloatware.
Owen Diaz
In what fucking world does it boot faster
Hunter Gomez
>server as your desktop no thanks, i just use pro which is good enough if not better for playing video gaymes. if i were to want to have a hassle hosting a server, then i'd use it.
Just a thought... everybody is quick to call Cortana a botnet, but isn't it kind of necessary to "train" a voice assistant by throwing ridiculous amounts of samples at it so that it can learn? Obviously, I'm not getting into whether people actually want such an assistant or not (I don't, I find it silly to talk to my devices), but isn't that kind of the price to pay for having a voice assistant that actually understands you most of the time?
Lucas Sanders
I have an old computer running Windows 7 now If I transfer an SSD with Windows 10 already installed there (nothing deleted yet) and place it inside the old computer (after removing the hard disk inside it of course), what'll happen once I start that computer?
Adrian Cox
What else is the purpose of a desktop? Otherwise get a laptop, server, tablet or phone.
Nathan Young
I don't give a flying FUCK about that.
Jace Stewart
Because I use Ubuntu, RHEL, and Alpine on my servers.
Adam Hall
Forgot the follow-up, >and my desktop is only used as an extension of my servers
David Watson
if your IIS website has any kind of user authentication you need CALs for every single user
>a VM Host is probably Winshit 10, filthy normie scum.
Josiah Cox
Because the year is 2018
Jackson Young
I use 2016 version.
Wyatt Butler
bles respong :---DDDD
Easton Price
Because I'm using Windows Server 1803 Core with desktop components from 10 1803 grafted onto it. Hurrah SuperBubble.
Nolan Smith
Because Windows is malware.
Jace Myers
what do i actually give up if i go full server mode?
Benjamin Hughes
>>server tier performance Servers are slower than comparable desktop computers
>>no bloatware If you are using a server OS as a desktop then it is bloated as fuck
>>no botnet (no cortana) Servers are more targetted by malware than desktops
>>desktop is default interface What?
>>gaming ability exactly the same as other Windows distros yeah have you ever run any packet sniffers on a server? hahahahaha the number of ARP and syn ack packets leaving and going to a server are fucking huge.
>>boots way faster than any other windows RUBBISH
>>stability that makes Linux users question their faith until you start messing with the bloat
>>can add IIS and have a decent web server with a couple of mouse clicks Well that's what a server is for yes, but you have now the problem of switching that off everytime you game because it becomes an attack surface
>>can add Active Directory or convert to a DNS or DHCP server for fun yup, that's what it's for
Jose Rivera
i bet that's a dang fine server OS stripped down, top fuel
