Idk, something like 70-80
I never learned to type properly and constantly switch between several different layouts, which kinda prevents me from learning to be proficient with a single one

I fatfinger too much

Attached: Udklip.png (544x131, 13K)

The gibberish is a bit frustrating to type at first but after a few runs I did well enough.

I want to do this but I don't want to give you a hit on your site.

Woah, 238, that's insane!

It's unfair if it's only in English

It's almost always 107-112 wpm on my Model M. I believe I'm faster by a few wpm on my Thinkpad P51's chiclet keyboard for some reason.
I moved around a lot as a kid between elementary and middle school, so I got to experience a different typing class nearly every year until freshman year of highschool. Learned home row and touch typing in like 3rd grade. Spent a lot of time messaging perverts and veterans in Yahoo Pool chatrooms too.

>it's unfair to not use my shitty letters
unless you have some obscure layout it shouldn't give you any trouble, i have all this shit here óüöúőáéí and yet i can do it without a trouble

I use "proper" typing form for my left hand but my right hand I kind of hunt and peck with my index and middle

Bad habit I need to fix

I guess it's okay, my first and probs last try

Attached: typing stuff.png (664x198, 32K)

for some reason I think this is physically impossible

I believe anything up to 900-1000, but close to 1200 is a shit ton, that's like 20 strokes per second
I'm already not typing slow, hitting around 820ish at good times, usually around 650 average because I'm thinking (reading the words) slower than I type

Last I checked I had like 90 in qwerty and 18-20 in workman. I know workman must have improved quite a bit by then, I'd expect 30-35ish, qwerty is most likely unchanged. Can't be bothered to actually test

The world's fastest typist can't even consistently get >210wpm, so yeah - bullshit.

The top typists can keep 160-175wpm, worlds best is around 190wpm.

that seems legit, I hit about 140-150 when I'm doing well

I can do bursts of up to 150wpm, but that's the point where my accuracy is pushed, I usually crack out a sentence or two and then have spam backspace while trying to correct something my stupid brain keeps sending wrong
>tfw I feel like my hands are running away from my thoughts at that speed. I could probably type faster with a little practice, but I don't really read and process stuff fast enough at the moment, and I can't be bothered trying to improve my skim reading skills.

The only people who do >190wpm are stenotypers. I do 150 as my -average- and 165-170 for short, unsustainable periods that highly depend on what kind of material is being typed.

Look up Barbara Blackburn.

yeah that's my issue too, I can type faster than I can read that text and focus on the next words

when I'm typing whatever I want to type and am actually thinking, it's a lot faster I think

I'd agree with this, but I never formulate more than a few sentences in advance, so it's pretty easy to smash down the words and spend the next few minutes staring at a blinking cursor

that's right, unless you're trash chatting or hot on some discussion topic (but even there usually) you think about what words you should probably be picking, or just re-think the topic or whatever

about 100 (slightly less or slightly more), but as I am actually typing it's massively uneven and I make a lot of typos, so it feels as if I deserve to type faster but can't

>Your score: 251 CPM (that is 50 WPM)

Fuck, I'm getting old.

tends to range anywhere from 100-120. this is a new keyboard, though, so still kinda getting used to it.

At least post being over 9000.

If you're going to cheat at least make a meme out of it.

Friendly reminder that typing fast is the less useful feature for anyone, typists included

This was my first try, done while listening to a podcast.
123 wpm, 99.8th percentile - not great, but I could go faster if I really concentrated.

Attached: meh.png (551x130, 22K)

How many Jow Forumsentoo actually type the proper way?
I've started typing like pic related and so far am still a couple WPM below my previous typing (about 42-46, and I seemed to faster when I only used my left hand). How long does it take to git good?

Attached: type.png (602x363, 160K)

Just keep at it, Don't concern yourself with how long it took others.

So, Topre :^)?

Anybody using a dvorak keyboard? Would be interesting to see if there is a difference

I used to hang out in a typing discord room and the general consensus there was that there is no real difference in typing speed, there were 160wpm+ guys there using qwerty

>100 club reporting in
damn, you beat me by 1 cpm
also using a shitty keyboard, pic related

is it time to off myself yet

>site requires JS

What's a foss game (or just free beer) game I can practice typing on?

Learning how to type correctly was one of my better decisions, keep at it.

69

...I challenge you to write a web typing test without using JS.

emacs

Fyi, just keep looking at the next word or two while your fingers execute the last word. Instant speed demon.

Are you?

Attached: 1525917740.png (569x146, 33K)

69, awww yiss

I almost never have the opportunity to type fast since coding is more thinking than typing

77, faster than I thought.

Attached: 1499019640677.jpg (380x253, 52K)

Switch to dvorak and touch typing properly feels natural. There's a bit of a learning curve to figuring out where the letters are, but once you get over that you'll start wondering why anyone would ever use fewer than ten fingers to type.

It's not any faster, but it's much more comfortable and much easier to learn. Two months after switching I was as fast as I had ever been with QWERTY, except that I was typing quickly all the time instead of hunting and pecking 80% of the time and only touch typing when I had to get something out quick.

>33 wpm

haha end me

i have to look at the keyboard

not that you care but im better than you

qwerty

anyone know if colemak or dvorak would increase speed?

Attached: fff.png (895x316, 49K)

Let's thrown down.

Attached: 1525922825-thumbnail.jpg (600x153, 17K)

Colemak btw. Dvorak is a meme and is no better than Qwerty in terms of comfort. Colemak is more comfy and worth learning but isn't any faster or slower than Qwerty. The only reason people see speed gains when switching from Qwerty to Colemak, Workman, Dvorak, etc. is because they finally learned how to type properly. I went from 140wpm on Qwerty to 120~ on Dvorak (before finding it less comfy than Qwerty) and switched to Colemak and now type 140wpm~ on Colemak.

But unless you like to optimize for comfort I wouldn't recommend learning Colemak. I only recommend it to people who haven't yet learn to touch type - so they can be more comfy and learn to type properly. "Unlearning" how to type to learn a new layout is a tedious process that took me months. Switching from Dvorak to Colemak was a bit faster but not by much.

I'm just worried that I'll fuck up on qwerty since I work and have to use others keyboards so much

Highest i've ever hit was 144wpm on typeracer by chance, if you got higher you win

Has anybody else been getting progressively worse at typing and glancing down at the keyboard more and more? I'm too young for this kind of stuff to start getting slower, but my fingers just keep getting slower and clumsier. Shit sucks.

i was my fastest at typing at 18-19 but now i'm 22 and i find myself making more typing mistakes now than ever

it is okay friend

After a bit of warming up I can do 155-160 but can't maintain it for over an hour. 140-145 is my usual pace, so we're about even.

>I'm just worried that I'll fuck up on qwerty since I work and have to use others keyboards so much
I use Qwerty and Colemak at work, as I often need to use coworkers' computers to help them with things. It's a bit like learning a second language. Once you're fluent you can switch between the two easily. Just make sure you use both or you'll forget Qwerty over time. I probably type 90-100wpm in Qwerty now due to lack of practice and having to pause slightly to think from time to time.

Silly human games.

Why did you even save that? That's low-tier compared to everything else on his blog.
