My own caching nameserver is faster. There's no competing with something running on your own LAN no matter how hard you try to provide a unicast DNS service.

And my own DNS server isn't a botnet that logs and spies on you. I find it very curious and telling that cloudflare's DNS is shilled here on Jow Forums so frequently. You don't hire marketing shills if you're not making a profit. It's a free service which means user data is the product.

Most routers have an inbuilt dns. Try setting it to your local ip and see if it works. It falls back on the secondary dns obviously.
