We're not in an era of einsteins, fords, Bill Gates', and Gauss' anymore. There is never one genius who solves a problem or designs a cool thing that changes the world. Large discoveries and advances require large teams. Sometimes we choose figureheads like Steve Jobs, or Elon Musk as idols for the work their team has done.

Jobs was actually able to do shit, no joke. He was no wozniak, but still skilled.
He just slipped in the role where it wasn't expected from him, and where he had much more important stuff to do.

He's a rich guy who decided to blow his money on tech he cares about, nothing wrong with that, and it takes some level of persistence/autism to keep risking a ton of money on pipe dream projects like electric cars and commercial space travel. He's basically normie Jow Forums, but I'd take him over some dude who just sees tech as a widget for big bucks and puts his money in politics or parks his profits in some no-name island country.

No, he runs a tour every so often just like every other figurehead CEO, bullshits with upper management about their subordinates and promptly leaves to the Bahamas so his workers can toil away and amass more fortunes for him while being relatively underpaid and overworked.

Meanwhile Musk pilfers millions in subsidies and likely saves huge sums with tax breaks/incentives and pays little of them anyways since he's laundering money overseas. The public blindly regurgitates that Musk is some sort of magnificent and benevolent saint while he fucks them in the ass promising a bunch of moonshot bullshit that will never come to bear fruit.
